What's the closest distance between 2A and 5A schools both winning the state title in the same year?
Blanco (2A) and Smithson Valley (5A) are 20 miles apart. Both are playing in the quarterfinals this weekend. Back in 2001, each played in the finals in their respective classifications. SV was 4A Div I that year, losing to Denton Ryan in OT. Blanco won the nightcap for the 2A Div I title.
I know the Dallas metroplex has had lots of champions, just curious if any were this close.

I got this one.
5.10 miles between Roosevelt and Judson. The only time that 2 schools from the same district won the 5a D1 and D2 championship. That would be the 265 (aka the little Big 12 south)
15.8 mi Katy 5A, Lamar 4A
Celina and Southlake Carrol are ABOUT the same distance apart, aren't they?

Celina and Southlake are 44 miles apart, so that's still > 20 miles between Blanco and Smithson Valley.
I know about the 5A/5A and 5A/4A proximities. I was curious about 5A/2A, because that should dramatize the difference between the city and country. That said, Smithson Valley isn't exactly "city".
At this point, the overall cluster probably goes to the Austin area. In 5A, RR Stony Point and Pflugerville Hendrickson are about 8 miles apart, with Westlake in the mix. 4A: Lake Travis. 3A: Liberty Hill. 2A: Blanco.

I would say the closest is Wylie and Allen, all you have to do is go up 1378 and you hit Allen within 15 miles.

I was interested in distances between big (5A) and little schools (2A).
But in 5A alone I'm thinking it's Pflugerville Hendrickson and Round Rock Stony Point (8 miles).

4A Stephenville, 6-man Gordon (26 miles) in 1999 is the closest big school/small school match I can think of from my area (though calling Stephenville a big school is a stretch... still 4A).
