out coach todd dodge
if lufkin happens to win this friday against cove they will probably play slc
lufkin is more athletic than slc but it is the coach that makes the team so good if you out coach dodge you will win

It is a little deeper then that. If it only mattered about coaching, then there would be no players.

they are young kids only 16,17,18 athletic ability will only go so far you have to be well coached and dodge is a very good coach probably the best in the hs coach in the country. John owtlaw is perfectly capable of out coaching dodge, but he will most defanantly have to do his home work.

Who is SLC's Defensive Coordinator... is he different from last year? I only ask because I have been impressed with how the defense stepped up this year and the couple of games I saw, the schemes looked a little different from the past couple of years.

I think Coach Dodge is better than Coach Outlaw but the players seem to be the same for Lufkin and Southlake Carroll.

the defensive coordinator, I think, is still learning. He stepped into the roll full time last year after the previous defensive coordinator passed away. I think that he has matured a lot and has really gotten better throughout this season.

coach mendoza. he was last year too. last year we all knew coach stalcup probably wouldn't be doing much if anything, but when he died right before the season, it was a great source of incentive to the kids. coach mendoza has done a bang up job both years as dc.

Oh yeah, I remember... Stalcup was the gentleman who fought a courageous battle with cancer.

Do exactly what SV did last year with only one difference: Do not give up 40 yards on defense setting up a Kevin Ortega feild goal to win the game.

except that would have ended in a tie ball game and overtime.

Carroll would have had the advantage in overtime as there would be no punting or kicking off which was the weakest part of their game and the part that Smithson Valley really capitalized off of.

but in overtime, anything could have happened, and I am happy that I did not have to see what was going to happen

Have an offensive line good enough to dominate the line of scrimmage, a stong dominating running back, play ball control to keep their offense off the field and come up with one more big play than they do...Katy 2003
Have an offense potent enough to go heads up with theirs and a defense that makes one more stop than they do. Very possibly Katy 2005.
Not attempting to look past Cy-Falls, SV or Madison but I believe this team could be as good or better than 2000 if the defense can rise to the occaision.
