DALLAS MORNING NEWS SLC PLANO ARTICLE bias

[Plano Wildcat Fan]

The article "Reliving History" by Tim Macmahon was a nice read. However, the layout of the article was really tilted toward SLC.

SLC gets a nice 5 x 7 picture of Agnew and Benoist arms crossed flexing their muscle with their state and national championship banners behind their shoulders. Nicely staged. Their was attention to detail before the picture was taken. The perfect picture for the perfect team.

Then at the bottom of the Article you have this small little picture maybe 1/5 the size of SL. This picture has Plano's Jordan and Sowell. Looks like they grabbed the two players in the hallway between lunch and 4th period and took one shot. They couldn't even get Justin Jordans full head in the shot! It's cutoff at the forehead.

Very disapppointing. No respect for Plano at least when it comes to Publicity headshots!:D

They had a huge pic of Butch Fifield of Plano standing back to back with Rob Moerschell of HP.

If Plano can return to their former glory, no doubt the size of the pictures in the newspaper will be adjusted accordingly.

They had a huge pic of Butch Fifield of Plano standing back to back with Rob Moerschell of HP.

i find it hard to believe that the dmn puts more emphasis on a town one tenth the population of the second. the dmn has pretty much ignored slc up til now. the startle gram is a different story all together.

I had to send him an email and remind that Carroll still had to play Plano on Saturday!

He responded to my email and was pretty cool!!

I read the on-line article and there are thre pictures of equal size one of them having equal time with JJ running the ball.

I felt the story was fair I don't think you can read into having more print time to SLC in one story.

It doesn't matter anyway because all the columnist are going to pick SLC across the board this Thursday anyway.

I think if Plano does win state this year it would make a better movie than others. Everyone likes a good underdog story especially against a giant.

the b*stard child that was the 0-10 season has certainly grown into the swan, and would be a heck of a story were it to complete the metamorphosis. this week wouldn't be the last hurdle either, for either team.

You are right this game is a 30 ft hurdle followed by two other hurdles not as tall but tall none the less.

All I am hoping for is a close game this week. If we loose we will deal with it, but I just hope we can keep it close to make for an exciting game!

I have to agree with you about the pictures. I hadn't really looked closely at the pictures when I read the article this morning, but looked at them again after your post. The SLC looked like a professionally posed portrait. One boy precisely behind the other and probably less than a millimeter off center between their two banners.

I think the professional photographer sent out to SLC spent so much time out there trying to get the perfect shot that he just called the office manager at Plano Sr and asked if someone could just borrow a digital camera from the multimedia class and just e-mail a picture to the DMN. There is no way the same person took both pictures. The Plano one was really bad. Shame on DMN!

I agree this has been a great week. Its kind of fun when you have nothing to loose and everything to gain.

I'm going to be honest. At the beginning of this week I though..."Plano...pshh, lets get ready for Lufkin." but now im starting to think this could be one of those games that very sneakily ends up being a tight game. It soundsl ike the buzz at Plano SH surrounding this game is huge, and that they are really pumped for it. They definitely got the 'nothing to lose' attitude going for them.

there are the usual worry warts who thought we'd surely lose several games this year, but i don't think there are many. some would admit it's just bad luck to think otherwise. most adults are as confident as they sound. it is a confidence founded in a fairly strong probability. the kids are getting ready for the biggest game of the year as are the wildcats.
