69 slow it down cause the only opponent Westfield has is Judson.

However, if they see the dance they'll probably ignore it like they did last year when Judson came to the Dome with all that pre game whistling they were doing during warm ups.

Stinger, you are right so I'll holdback most of what I want to post.
I'll put something bluntly. You guys are ignorant. The Haka is not done in view of the other team. It is done in front of the Trojan fans. So most of the time the other team will only see the post game Haka. Also, before you post; do some research on the history, origin and meaning of the Haka.
Sorry Stinger, I'll save more for after the game. Just had to get that part out.

I've seen many of the Haka threads, posts, video, history, translation, etc.

If they get the opportunity, Westfield will still ignore it - pregame, postgame, or whenever.

hakacrap... Geez. That silly little dance does nothing except make people smile. Kind of like a little puppy dog. You may not like animals, but when you see a puppy chewing on the ear of another puppy, you smile.
The haka has the same effect on people. They'd be better off doing the cabbage patch or something. The results would be the same.

Actually it energizes both the Trojan fans and the team towards the same goal among other things ;) .....

If you dont like it, go get a drink/get something to eat before and after a game and guess what? You wont see it! ;)

Maybe for every other school, but the Trinity faithful is different. Not everybody is big on changing one's pant color and hair color but its what somebody else believes in.

I'm just giving y'all a hard time. Personally, I don't care for it. But I don't really count where things are considered for ET. As long as the team is down with it, that's all that really matters.
Good luck Trinity this weekend.

Most teams(including ours) just ignore it. We were stretching as they did it, and we had our backs to it the whole time. Anyone who turned around had to do push ups, not given out by the coaches but by the leaders of our team. No one did though.

SLC can do blonde hair....we do the haka...same thing....Frankly I don't want my boy to bleach his hair ...I would rather he dance. Just my preference.

there u go again BH....I saw them watching at the end. You weren't on the field when we did it before the game. I am wondering if you were even there. Your recollections are a bit muffled. Your team was in the locker room when we did it before the Bell game started. We never do it when any team is stretching.

speaking of ignorance...

the haka is simply a symbol of tradition, diversity, and overall, true to the words, strength. its more or less a prayer.

This was about the haka and Trinity. It does not have anything to do with Carroll, but if you want to go down that road

Bleach hair in 5A is 14-1 (2 state championships)
Haka in 5A is 12-1 (no outright district championships)

I remember as clear as day. It wasn't exactly stretching, it was more like loosening up by jogging and high knee run and such. We could hear it going on and our whole team was saying "Don't turn around" and the like.

Your remark was I thought the fight song got the fans and team going...
So we do the haka to get the team going ...yours use bleach....just responding to your comments. Plus I don't care if you have a million championships with bleached hair...I care about ET and that is what we do and you shouldn't care about that.

I never said well bleached hair isn't something to bring a team together it is what a fight song is for. Just don't comment on other team's things to do we didn't start that you did.

you are the one that brought Carroll into it, I did not. I feel that the haka is ridiculous. If there is a discussion about the haka then shouldn't you be able to comment on it. There are a lot of threads about Carroll's bleached hair, if you want to post about it go into those threads or start a new one.

Dragonfan....you need to stay on the site and talk with Plano...they have what you are wanting to hear. Unfortunately...Trinity and SLC will not meet this year, so there are no questions to answer. Team unit is achieved any way that is successful for the team. The haka works for Trinity...and I am sure your works for SLC. I played rugby for several years. We had members from all over the world. We did a version of the haka for the same reasons as Trinity. We played against teams from all over the world and the haka was recognized and done by 99% of the teams. It is a fun and unifying ceremony. Let the kids have fun and don't let others try and bring it down.

I'm from SLC and I personally think the Haka is awesome. The bottomline is that it helps energize the team AND fans for ET. Who cares if some people think it looks silly/funny. Also to think the Haka OR bleaching hair wins state championships is just plain stupid. I'm pretty dang sure SLC would have won state 2 of the last 3 years with "regular" hair too. Besides neither of these two "traditions" impact anyone else...now Allen's obnoxiously loud band is a whole other story. ;)

then why did it originate from New Zealand when their players are of Tongan heritage? Why is this the first year that they did it? Your quote and these two questions do not fit

traditionally, yeah. but, really...one could manipulate the purpose in order to pray to whoever they want. :p

or ya know...just not bring religion into it. lol.

Not all New Zealanders are of English descent. It's the natives that started it. Obviously, the Tongans do it, too.
