The Plano nation believes in each and everyone of thes 2005 Wildcats. Believe in your teammates, they wlll rise to the occassion on Saturday. Believe in our coaching staff, their is no one better in Texas. They believe in you and your ability to win. You have overcome obstacles larger than SLC. You have moved mountains this year and surpassed every goal but one.

Live every moment on Saturday. Every play counts form the opening kickoff to the last snap. The little things add up, from using the correct technique in sealing the DE to not getting flustered when momentum shifts back and forth during the game.

Everyone of the 15,000 Plano fans on Saturday believe you have it in you to put the upset and win. LEAVE EVERYTHING ON THE FIELD!!

When you win, this will be the greatest victory in Plano History. It will out shine every state championship Plano has won and every other of the 675 + victories plan has it its history!

You will remember this game for the rest of your life. Trust me I know. The emotion & bond you have with your teammates on the field you will never forget. Seize the day!!

Other than the day I was married and the birth of my child my greates memories of my life is being with my teammates at Plano and winning state. Those 6 weeks surpass all but those two days of my life. If can be for you.

as an ex-plano player, i've got my doubts as to whether this would be the biggest win in plano history.

where were you on that frigid big country night in vernon when the only thing keeping these fingers from falling off as icicycles was the hot dr pepper booth. phillips was the opponent and beating them in a semifinal put us into the state title game for the 2nd time in 3 years?

what about the cold, rainy night in austin when an upstart plano team, still grieving the season ending and paralyzation-causing injury of one of their own the week before in a win over 2nd ranked iowa park, took care of business mostly due to the gutty play of qb billy don fondren and a great break after a purposeful safety when the top ranked edna team let the punt roll around untouched until we recovered and ran out the clock for a first ever state title?

everyone has read about the outcome of the 77 hp game, but it had all the hype and except for the internet would have been this game.

no, this is a big game, but certainly debateable as the biggest ever. don't confuse your excitement for today as the end all for plano football history. good luck to both teams.

I know about those games and all were impact games that defined Plano Football and opened the door for some great years of football domination. I was at the HP game. It was amazing. But honestly, you don't beleive if Plano wins on Saturday against SLC that wouldn't be considered, the single greatest Plano victory in its history? Or is about how they could win that defines the greatest of the game?

it would be in the top 3-5 imo. i go back to the start, and though i've missed the intervening non title years(94-04), i'm not willing to look thru very myopic glasses that magnify the present, and discard what happened in the dark ages.

Dont kid yourself....Players and COACHES read these boards all the time...they enjoy being fans of their teams as much as we do. Why wouldnt they be the best fans around, they have a lot more invested than we do. Coaches talk about what they read on these boards more often than you think. TRUST ME!!!!!

Although this is Plano's first significant rodeo in a while, it's certainly not their first rodeo. It would be a huge win for the Wildcats and certainly an big upset, but more significant than seven state championships? I don't agree.

I sure do appreciate the post, however, Plano has not faced a team of SLC caliber in a long long time. I really think they will be shocked at the level SLC asks their opponents to play at. Most can not play there. Best of luck to both teams and great job o the season. It was said before, the sad thing is that one 13-0 team will be done; when we still have a 9-4 team on the other side of the bracket.

As a fan I must say this game will be big but not as big as a state championship past, present or future.

Trust me if Plano can manage to get past SLC, Lufkin and Katy to win State I doubt those boys will be thinking too much about the SLC game when holding the trophy.

Big Game Yes....The Game NO!!!!

It is THE game for this year, at this moment. If they win, then Lufkin or Cove will be THE game. The boys on this Plano team had nothing to do with the past championships. They want one and they HAVE to win THIS game in order to keep trying to get it. Remember, win or go home

while completely true, the seeming do or die, biggest game in plano history pressure packer letter just doesn't hold up to scrutiny, and places undue pressure on this fine group of athletes. i'm sure coach brence isn't couching it as such.

I disagree. I have spoken to members of the 2002 State Champion Carroll team and they always think back to the game against Lufkin. At that time Lufkin was the defending state champion and the team with a collision course to the championship, just like Carroll is this year. Carroll pulled out a victory in a very close game and that is the game the players talk about. They mention that game, before they mention the blowout in the championship. If Plano beats Carroll this week and then goes on to win the championship, I bet that they think of the game with Carroll more than any other game this year

After some thought I could see some truth to that I guess it would compare to when the US played the Russians in 80' Winter Olympics as you know that game wasn't the gold medal round it was the next game against Findland or Norway I can't remember off the top of my head.

All we remember is the win against the Soviets.

When Plano won state in 1977. The game people remember is Highland Park in the quarterfinals 29-28.

This will be the same thing if Plano can run the table the next 3 weeks.:)

yes, it was a very nice post.

though allow me to be the voice of reality.

you're going against a team that is 60-1 since its introduction as a 5-A school and that one loss was by a point from katy in the playoffs in 2003.

you reign from a school that went scoreless two years ago.

historically speaking these last few years, southlake should beat the pants off of you.

First off we didn't win a game 2 years ago. We did score but not very much:(

Yep, there are a LOT of numbers that say we oughta get creamed. And there are a few numbers that say we might do okay. The open letter just says we believe in our boys and we're proud of them and we believe they have a chance. That okay with you?

personally i dont think that the players are playing for the fans. Where were all the fans two years ago?? there were a few of those faithful but other then that nobody was there for that 0-10 season. like it touched on in the dallas morning new article, pepole that used to tell us how much we sucked are now pating the players on the back. Play for the 1,000 out of the 15,000that were faithfull and F**k the rest. trust me its enuf fuel to play for themselves and the plano wildcat faithful. Go cats, you deserve it.

I was there for every game in the 0-10 season and the 4-6 season afterward. Plano still had crowds larger than almost any school we played those two years. Plano East being the only exception. The crowds were not as large as what Plano is used to, but most teams would have killed to have that level of fan support. Perhaps Plano's expectations reflect being a little spoiled by the fans over the years.

Taken from “Plano Tradition” at: http://www.planowildcats.org

"To a Plano Wildcat

There are little eyes upon you,
And they're watching night and day;
There are little ears that quickly
Take in every word you say;
There are little hands all eager
To do everything you do;
And a little boy who's dreaming
Of the day he'll be a Wildcat - just like you!

You're the little guy's idol,
You're the wisest of the wise,
In his little mind about you,
No suspicions ever rise.
He believes in you devoutly,

Vows that all you say and do,
He'll do and say the same thing
When he becomes a Wildcat - just like you!

Now this starry-eyed little fellow,
Thinks you do everything just right,
And his heart is always pounding
As he watches you on Friday night;
You are setting an example
Your life is put to the test it's true -
By the little boy who's longing
To be a Plano Wildcat - just like you!"

For alot of kids this is still true. I have neighbor kid who plays in PSA. Wildcats are his idols and he can not wait to play for Plano. I also saw some of the kids getting autographs from the players at the game a few weeks ago. At the middle school in my neighborhood the kids have been putting up signs on the street to remind fans where the Plano game is each week. The school of course feeds into Plano.
