I'm on board with playoffs and changing how the Big 12 does the title game, but I also know things sometimes go in cycles and change isn't always needed. In the case of the Big 12, I think the money from the South will lead to an inbalance for the foreseeable future, though.
Anyway, since somebody had to go to KC, it should be OU.
Round Robin:
OU 35-45 and 65-21 is +34
UT 45-35 and 33-39 is +6
Tech 39-33 and 21-65 is -38
Common games:
Okie Lite at Tech +36
OU at Okie Lite +20
Okie Lite at UT +4
Tech at KU +42
UT at KU +28
KU at OU +14
OU at Baylor +32
Baylor at UT +24
Baylor at Tech +7
A&M at UT +40
OU at A&M +38
Tech at A&M +18
OU +104
Tech +103
UT +96
Total common/round robin:
OU +138
UT +102
Tech +65
Other Big 12:
OU at K-State +23, Nebraska +34 (+57)
UT at Colorado +24, Mizzou +25 (+49)
Tech at K-State +30, Nebraska +6 (+36)
Total Big 12:
OU +195
UT +151
Tech +101
Non-conference:
OU Chattanooga +55, Cincinnati +26, at Washington +41, TCU +25 (+147)
UT Florida Atlantic +42, at UTEP +29, Rice +42, Arkansas +42 (+155)
Tech Eastern Washington +25, at Nevada +16, Southern Methodist +36, Massachusetts +42 (+119)
Total:
OU +342
UT +306
Tech +220
1. OU won the total margin battle, but the big one was best in round robin. 2. The common Big 12 games were an almost even draw.
3. The other Big 12 games are a slight advantage to OU and Mizzou losing to KU takes away the feather in UT's cap and that makes that win not really much better than Tech and OU beating Nebraska.
4. You've got to give OU the competitive edge in non-conference, too.
Here's how the individual trump game works:
vs. OU- Texas
vs. UT- Tech
vs. Tech- OU
vs. OSU- Tech
vs. KU- Tech
vs. Baylor- OU
vs. A&M- OU (38 on road is better than 40 at home)
Other Big 12 games:
1. UT Mizzou +25
2. OU Nebraska +34
3. Tech at K-State +30
4. OU at K-State +23
5. UT at Colorado +24
6. Tech Nebraska +6
That's an almost dead heat for me and I'll give UT a tiebreaker edge.
