Someone forgot to tell these guys they were not suposed to get this far in the play offs. They play like there is no tomorrow. I have seen two of thier games and was very impressed with them. They also have a great bunch of fans. Good luck to you guys I hope you get to play in houston.

I am not surprised. They lost 2 games by a combined 10 points....by 7 to Plano and by 3 to Allen.
They are my pick for Division 2. Only time will tell.

You summed them up right there.
I know it was the final game of the season and the playoffs were already determined, but right here in Eagle Stadium they gave Allen all they wanted. Based on what I've seen this year, except for Trinity and Permian, I believe Wylie is the best team we faced this year, including Plano.
Go, Pirates!!!

I saw every 8-5A team this season with the exception of Allen and I am good friends with a Jesuit coach. I wouold agree with his assessment of the district and as it pertains to this thread of Wylie: the most talented team is Allen, whose only loss this season was to Trinity, the most explosive offensive team is Plano, who lost a high scoring playoff game to Trinity, and the best defense is Wylie, who is not that big or that fast but plays so very hard on defense.
Wylie has a nose tackle who plays hard every snap. He is considered too small, but he plays like a human wrecking ball. And, his defensive teammates play hard, too. Offensively, Wylie's QB looks like a TE but throws like an NFL QB, and he has some talented skill kids around him.
For those who think 8-5A was not a tough district, look at what has happened in the playoffs: Wylie beat Hebron, who won their district, Plano would still be in the playoffs if they were matched up against anyone besides Trinity, my pick to win it all, and Allen won against an undefeated Permian with their backup QB playing in place of their starting QB who was their leading rusher and passer. And, Plano West took Cedar Hill to overtime, and Cedar Hill is still in the playoffs.
I hope the Trinity-Allen game is as good or better than the Allen-Permian game. I think the Wylie-Cedar Hill game will be a great one, too. Good luck to both 8-5A teams.

My brother-in-law is a teach at Killeen High. He was giving me some insight into Cove while sitting at the deer lease this weekend. Could be a very interesting matchup should Cove meet Wylie!

I had Wylie as a sleeper way back in August thanks to klh here - very astute poster with Lufkin ties.
Only two losses to two very stout teams.

I agree with you, Clark. I thought Wylie was indeed the 2nd best team Allen played this season, behind Trinity. So, it's been no surprise to me to see how well they've done in the playoffs this year. More power to the Pirates!
