A nice win for the Oilers against Katy Taylor making a statement after the close game against Lake last week.

Besides the fluke on defense where the Db misjudged the ball trying to go for the pick it would have been a shutout without a doubt :D

The Oilers take on Hightower next Sat. at Tully Stadium. 2pm....I can't see there being any room in the stands on the PL side considering in the game today it was comepletely filled up....why it isn't at Rice? Who knows.

But oh yes on another note...that Katy Taylor band was somethin. They had to have played almost the ENTIRE game!! Or at least it seemed like it, they seemed to have really got the crowd into it as well...even when they were down. Congrats on Taylor for the great season though. :)

Sorry to go off topic on this thread. I know Cinco Ranch and JE Taylor lost in the third round and the Tigers are still playing.

With that said I wanted to congratulate our 175a brethren for the best seasons both have ever put together.

First off Cinco Ranch. I believe they finished with the best record in their history. They traveled to San Antonio and Dallas this year and played very good football. They got their first ever win against Katy. They won the District Championship for the first time in their school's history and they finished as Regional semis finalist. Great job

Second JE Taylor. You are the Tiger's oldest adversary in KISD. You and Cinco Ranch are the only ones in our district to hand Katy a loss. Your playoff run started before the playoffs even started. You got in and represented our district extremely well. 175a is all the better because of the heart and determination you demonstrated in the playoffs. Your best run ever. Congrats regional semis finalist.

Well yeah, personally I loved how the stadium...but with the game of this magnitude it should probably be held somewhere such as Rice, there isn't much seating a Tully...I mean our fanbase can grow pretty dang fast in Pearland's playoff runs. But the parking/traffic and concession lines were the only problems I had with Tully.

I liked the way our defense played today. Hightower runs basically the same offense as K.T. but with more speed. I think our guys will be able to handle it...

The following are some of things that I've been saying leading up to the game against Katy Taylor. Of course I continue to believe that the Oilers will go as far as the defense takes them. If they continue to improve as a unit which I believe they are, it'll get harder and harder to put the ball in the endzone against this group

The time is near for our Oilers to step it up a notch similar to what the Longhorns did last night. I still say that it's going to take the defense for this team to continue on in the playoffs. Defense, read my lips, you've got to bring it from the very first snap and play every play like it's your last. Don't give up on a play until you hear the whistle, if your on the opposite side of the field from where the play is taking place, don't watch and expect your teammates to bring the opposing player down, head on over there as fast as you can assuming the opposing player may get away from the tackler!

Jarrad, Jordan and the rest of the Oiler "D", you've got to get each other ready and step it up a notch for this game. Sometimes you run into a big boy that doesn't go down easy, you can't try and over power or manhandle a runner like that every play while he's getting 5 and 6 yards before he goes down, get him down low, I can assure you they'll go down!

For the secondary, if the other team is throwing a lot, you've got to locate the ball prior to it arriving in the receiver hands. I see all to often some of the players looking at the receiver and never even trying to locate the ball. The reason that Nick did so well last year and received a scholarship was because he could locate the ball while covering the receiver, therefore giving himself an opportunity to either knock the ball down or better yet, intercept the pass.

Remember "D", if they can't score against you, they can't beat you!! It's easy to say, I agree, however, if you have the athletes/players that the Oilers have, this can be a reality!!

I'm getting excited like I know the players are, how do you sleep? Sleep or not I will be at the game to support the boys who are trying to make a little history for themselves, their coaches, their friends, their families and the city of Pearland, go boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brogdon and Stewart are the leaders of the defense and ya'll need to have everyone playing each and every play like it may be your last. This team can go a long way and defense will ultimately determine how far this team goes. Everyone knows the offense can put points on the board, they've been very effective on offense minus the last minute and a half in regulation against Clear Lake last week.

I saw three blow up dolls yesterday (Pearland, Taylor, Dickenson) and they were all TERRIBLE!
