I'll say what others have nibbled around the edges at in several threads. What a whacky year! I've never seen so many "unkowns" on the radar screen this late in the playoffs. And I'll just step right out there and roll a bomb in here like a lot of others do in other threads....A lot of these teams have no business breathing this good fine playoff air this late in November..must be something to do with the economy or Obama.:p And another thing...can Smithson Valley please play somebody at some point in the playoffs?

I didn't say anyone was a "nobody" I said unknown's and it still stands...And I'm sticking to my SV comment...I've never seen a path to the semi's like theirs...but hey, I'm just calling it like I see it. Just wish the Dragons were there to meet them, but it wasn't out year. And we don't underestimate anyone...

I'm sorry, but it looks like one of the easiest paths they've ever had and they've had it easy in the early rounds in past years...IMO:D

D2 is so wide open, it really kind of seems all paths are very do-able. Heck, Klein Oak beat Oak Ridge in Round 1 by a very uncomfortable margin and now they're in a regional final - go figure.
Makes very little sense - but congrats to all still in it.

Actually this post make you look like a fool. It's one thing to call a team a "nobody" (and you didn't). But anyone that would call a team a "nobody" would be insulting the team. By calling a team "unknown" make you look lazy and foolish. It's your fault they are unknown, Each team plays basically the same amount of games each year (minus IKE games). It's your own fault that you can't keep up with all of the teams or at least look them up and learn yourself a little something about them when your sitting at home on Friday and Saturday's now that your team is playing a lot of basketball. Maybe it's a little telling that you are calling teams "unknown" when it's Southlake Carroll that is becoming the ancient history trivia question around the water cooler at work.
We are right here in front of you drgnbkr if you want to know who we are put in a little effort and come out of your southlake shell and learn you some High School football!

Well said.
Have you heard the old Chinese Proverb about the "Monkey Tree"? Well they are just not at the top of the Monkey Tree anymore, unknown territory.
They will get beyond it. It really just seems to get back to the question of how many teams should come from each district.

So this is what SLC fans do when they are not a factor in the playoffs...try to find an excuse for other teams success

We/I don't live in a shell.. Heard of some of these teams that are getting a chance on the big stage...just a bit unusual don't ya think? We just sit back and watch what goes on around the state and comment on it. Sorry if you don't like what I have to say. See drgnbkr before CKE asked how basketball was going I did not know, but instead of making myself look Foolish and "Above Every One Else" I simply did some quick research and learned about Southlake Carroll basketball. I also learned they are running a new offense this year as well . Maybe i will go look up some Girls hoops stats now....

You need to check out Katy's bracket if you think SV's had it easy.
I was thinking about this on the way home from the Katy Game tonight. I think it is obvious that moving District 15 (Cy-Fair ISD) from Region III to Region II made the path out of Houston easier. Cy-Fair ISD always produces at least a couple quality teams in the Div. I and II playoffs. That is one thing that is different this year in Region III. And, I'm not complaining other than it did eliminate some good games to watch in Region III Post Season Play.

its not katy's fault that the teams with testicles lose to teams without testicles in their bracket. <- Ya you're going to need to read that 3 times:)

I get your drift. I was looking at the right side of the bracket today, or what's left of it and noticed a distinct lack of the usual suspects. Judson and Pearland I've heard of, but I didn't realize Katy had so many high schools. And before you get onto me I'm really not familiar with anything south of Mansfield. If your team is still hanging around in the quarters there must be something special there.

Region 4 D2 has some decent teams.
R4 D1 and R3 D2 - Look at Westlake's and Katy's opponents this late in the fray. For all the whining we do about the BCS and subjective judging in Figure Skating and Gymnastics, a playoff system has just as many if not more flaws as evidenced by this year's 5a playoffs.
Yeah yeah yeah, it all works out it the end blah blah blah. But guess what. Teams who have more time to rest their starters have a definite advantage when they eventually play the teams who had to go through a meat grinder to get to the same place. No such luxury in Region 1.
Not WL or Katy hating here but holy crap. Look at the draw for both teams.

That would seem to be at least a bit premature. True, the Dragons have appeared in but 5 playoff games in the past two seasons, as compared to 80 in the previous five years to those, but unless your definition of "ancient" is three years, the Dragons deserve a bit more slack than that.

Not WL or Katy hating here but holy crap. Look at the draw for both teams.
Katy set up some of the most competitive, non district games they could with a team that returned two starters. They met everyone in front of them and lost to some very good teams. They also beat some very good teams.
North Shore deserved the win, but even they will tell you it could have gone either way. Woodlands was a complete blow out with a very dynamic team, where Katy's youth killed us. After that game Katy made adjustments, moved people to different postions and came out ready to play.
Cinco deserved the win in overtime, they played smash mouth football with Katy in a way they never have and in my opinion was a very good football team.
Katy schedule may be playing untraditional playoff teams but they only play who is in front of them and I am assuming those that are in front of them got there by beating other teams. I think it is a diservice and nothing more then envy to belittle any of the teams that remain, this far in.
Next week it is La Porte. I have listened to their play on TSRN and they have an explosive offesense that can move the ball on you if you don't play good, defensive ball. They are in the forth round because the earned it on the field of play and I won't over look them.
Many of the Katy faithful wanted to go D1 in order to settle up some scores from earlier in the year. Whether they could have done it or not, we will never know, but the road to any championship will never be a cake walk.

Katy's path has by far been the easiest, and they know it and admit it.
Now everyone go blame that great program because everyone else in Region III is not a powerhouse this year.

the two words in my post "is becoming" were carefully placed for that very reason.
playing in 5 playoff games in 2 years mean you have just 3 playoff victories in two years. Would you like for me to list the schools that have more playoff wins over that same time frame or would you like WOS87 to do it?

There are 6 each 5A schools in Katy. Only 1 of them; 7 Lakes, a first year 5A team, had a losing season. 7 Lakes took both DI regional semi finalist teams Katy Taylor and Cinco Ranch into the final minute or so before losing. They play pretty good football in that city.
