Yeah, but they just moved into Texas this year. There are two in the Metroplex, one in Austin and one in Conroe. I ate at the one in the Galleria tonight (the other Metroplex location is Southlake Town Square). My favorite burger is still Casino el Camino, but Five Guys holds it owns quite well.

I had a friend (Houston native living in DC) reluctantly admit to me that Five Guys was better than Prince's. He felt a lot of reluctance in saying that the best burger in the nation was not from his hometown. I'll have to hit it up.

ZAGAT has rated it the best burger in the nation twice.

The one in Conroe is out by the lake on Hwy 105 by the new CVS.
Haven't tried it yet, but now I might.

I'll give it a try when I am in Austin in a few weeks (or Dallas in two weeks).
I've never heard of this chain, though.

we have alot of Five Guys in Georgia. It's alright. I still love the Royal Red Robin Burger at Red Robin. By far the best burger.

I stopped by the Steak n Shake in Plano the other night. Not bad. Helluva lot better than Burger King, but that's not saying much. Kinda small, but you can get a double meat combo for $4.

Burger House between Abrams and Skillman on Mockingbird in Dallas, or by SMU on Hillcrest.
Great seasoned burgers and the best chili cheese fries you have ever had.
I like Jake's on Skillman for their mushroom burger.....excellent.

Okay. Apparently I am the only poster here who has regularly eaten at a Five Guys Burger Joint.
First, they are good. BUT, you must like grease. Lots of it.
The Fries are of the "dirty" sort. Excellent, natural fries.
Chances are your local Burger Joint will be a far cry better than Five Guys but for some of you, it WILL BE your local Burger Joint. It was for us in Northern Virginia. We frequented the "new" one on Route 1 near Fort Belvoir most often. The "original" place behind the big hotels near the intersection of I-95 and The Beltway is still the best.
Do not go to a Five Guys if peanut shells on the floor type places bother you.
Get the jalapenos on a burger. They used to chop fresh ones and grill them for burgers. Maybe they still do.
Above all, remember that a visit to Five Guys is like going to see the Soup Nazi in that YOU MUST BE READY TO ORDER WHEN YOU GET TO THE COUNTER!!!!! The menu is large and can be read from the door. Do so, your fellow patrons will thank you for that. DO NOT ask "what is good?" today! It is all good. Every day. Duh.
Have fun and enjoy Five Guys. And, just in case you may not know it, they are every bit as proud of their burgers as Red Robin. Take lots of money.

If you don't, then why the hell are you eating a hamburger?

Honest injun, please. Tell me you did not notice how greasy their burgers are...
I did not say they are not good. Just gave a friendly warning to those for whom a "juicy" burger signifies "bad for you."

Of course I noticed. Greasy hamburgers are like the pink smoke ring on brisket... it's a sign of quality. The greasier the better. If you don't like greasy burgers, then follow slorch and the other Coloradans to the PETA Cafe for vegan burgers on recycled wheat buns.

All stainless steel. And if it makes you feel any better, my dishwasher was made in Colorado and is certified "green".

Dang son ya hit a nerve. Princes Drive In (the original) stood on sacred ground. As did Bill Williams Drive In, both in Houston. They should have been enshrined. After saying that..... Casino El Camino, Dirty's and Huts are Hamburger Heaven. I will try your Johnny come lately, but I gotta tell ya, CHAINS are rarley, if ever on par with a good, local mom and pop, heavy emphasis on GOOD. Steak and Shake is an ok burger, but a terrible value.
