I say 05..Mc is a more disciplined thrower..Daniel a more threatening runner, the wide receiver depth is incredible & the defense is flat out better....

I am not too sure, I just want to wait and see in State Championship if they win. If 05' team never been close than I would say they were better than 04 Team. 04' Team had a better QB but seems like 05 has alot better defense. Thats all I know for right now so I will tell you some more once they get to Final if they WIN.

I agree with Drgnbkr with one exception. The running game is still a concern. Not like it was but, I still say Luna was a better all around back than Newton is now when comparing 04 to 05. I still believe Newton has great upside.....Might had started last week with 138 yards on the ground!!

From the last half of the season and so far through the playoffs, I would say '05. I think the offense is on par with last year and while the running game is not as durable, the defense more than makes up for any other deficiency compared to the 04 team.

mcelroy is by far a better thrower, but daniel was able to scramble adding another dimension to his game

the defense of 05 is a ton better than 04

special teams is IMO better this year, but with ortega hurt its kind of iffy

running game goes to the 04, luna was just amazingly good and tre i have a feeling will be able to fill this role better each year, remember hes only a soph

Obviously not one SLC backer evens thinks or cares about Saturdays game. You fill if you show up you win without even working up a sweat.

I hope that is the attitude of the entire SL community from the parents to the students to the players and coaching staff.

I am a plano homer and I feel that SLC should win easily by 50. As soon as you get the lead our team will roll over and die.

Haha...I hope SV and SLC play again. They can make it a close game and force SLC to kick a 50 yarder in the last seconds when they are behind by 2.

Not one? I know a hell of a lot of people who care about EVERY game. I know from hearing from my lil bro, who plays on JV and stands the sidelines during the game, that Dodge and pretty much all the players care about EVERY game . . .

I care enough to stay another week here in TX mainly to watch the Plano SLC game Live . . . and I'm sure the alumni would have to care a lot to drive back as often as they do, any weekend they can. Crap dude - I have friends flyin from philly this weekend who are gunna b at that game cuz they listen on the radio every week - not that they are coming here exclusively for that purpose, but when they heard there was an SLC / PLANO game they jumped at the chance to go . . .

I think the "Dragon Nation" cares a lot - and I have no reason to believe that most the fanclub (definitely ALL the players) would underestimate any team.

Good luck 2 both the Dragons and Plano . . . I can't wait till Saturday!

Man, Pawelek had his way with Daniel a few times. It has been wierd seeing him in the stands at SV games. He constantly has a look that says he wants to be in the game smashing some QBs.

So far at this stage of the season 2005 is better than 2004, just look at the 3 play-off games so far. That thrashing of Abilene was simply outstanding - but the 2005 still need to win a State Title and until than 2004 is better.

If this Carroll team continues to dominate through the playoffs as they have in the first 3 games, there is no doubt in my mind that this is better than the 2004 team. If Carroll somehow does lose between now and the championship, then this argument will not mean anything

Dennison, Waxahachie, Sherman, aren't Midland Lee, Coppell, and Plano East. 02 had a soph running back who was good, but comparable to the 05 back. The 04 team had the best running back easily. The top QB goes to the 04 team as well. He was just such a dual threat. The OL for 02 was good, but not in the same category as 04 and 05. Nod to 04. Receivers for 02 were good. 04 were good until Jake got hurt. 05 head and shoulders better. Defense is clearly the difference. 05 has it all. 02 front 4 was good and linebackers were good. The 04 line and backers were better than 02. The 05 line and backers are better than 04 and 02. The dbs are especially better for 05 than 04 and 02. 05 benefits from the experience of the players who were underclassmen in 04. Tough comparison to make but fun to speculate. :)

WOW!!! I dont think so! First off 02 played 7 playoff teams in their ten regular season games, three being district champs. the 02 line had the best football player to come through carroll. Wasson was also a dual threat runner. he did rush for over 1000 yards. He set single season records for yards and TD's. The 02 recievers were three of a kind! all had over 1000 yrds recieveing and broke the TD record. the 02 defense was by far better! just look at the numbers! they only gave up 100 points in thier first ten games! They had two all state DB's.

Its easy to follow but hard to lead! 02 head into uncharted terriotry! and came out champs!

Agreed, the 02 teams was the best yet in 5A. The WR's were also better IMO. One went on to play at Iowa, and the others were very good too. The defense was also good in 02, just as good as this one seems to be. You really cant use schedule to debate this. The opposing teams are different every year. Like last years Abilene team was a lot better than this one. If SLC played last years Abilene team, they would not have beat them like they did this year. If SLC fans think otherwise, then they would have to expect SLC to win out the rest of the year with 50+ - 0 scores. Not going to happen. In order I would say 02, 04, 05 personally, but if 05 wins out, and takes the championship easily, I would put them ahead of 04, but not 02

That honestly has nothing to do with anything. Contrary to what you might think, at Carroll Senior High the students, coaches and players dont constantly engage in conversations about which year was/is the best team. This is a high school football message board. We discuss these things. Just because we are comparing some teams has nothing to do with not thinking about an upcoming game. If anything it is passing the time.

there's a morbid and highly predictable method of preparing, as slc's foe, for these games as we've experienced for 3 years. this week has gone as almost every other one. confidence is built up thru this behavior.
