If both teams win, where will the game be in a few weeks. Waco again, Tyler or up in Dallas.

I don't think it's been determined yet. Baylor's Floyd Casey Stadium was the chosen site last year, but supposedly it will be unavailable that week. Of all the other potential neutral sites, College Station makes the most sense to me. The commute to CS from Southlake and Lufkin is roughly the same, it's in a neutral area (unlike Tyler, for instance, which might favor Lufkin), and Kyle Field is more than large enough to meet the demand for seats. Let's look at the alternatives:

1) Waco ISD -- They played there in the 2002 semis, but the stadium only holds 11,500 people. That's nowhere near large enough to meet demand. Each side could easily bring 14,000 people.

2) Tyler -- Like Waco ISD, Tyler's stadium isn't large enough. Furthermore, Lufkin is familiar with Tyler and it could draw a lot of East Texas fans who will generally favor Lufkin. I imagine that Tyler would be objectionable to SLC.

3) Houston -- Less neutral than CS. Lufkin might prefer it, but not SLC.

4) Austin -- Less neutral than CS. Lufkin wouldn't go for it.

5) Huntsville -- Not nearly large enough.

I think College Station would be perfect, and here's hoping that that's where it's played should this game occur. For that matter, Collge Station would probably make sense for SLC vs. Copperas Cove, Plano vs. Lufkin, or Plano vs. Copperas Cove.

Calm down, dawg. He asked a hypothetical question and I gave him a hypothetical answer (notice that both of us used the word "if"). I'm not assuming anything.

Potential sites are usually decided more than a week in advance anyway, so maybe you should accuse the coaches of looking ahead as well.

It will probably be in Mesquite, if not Texas Stadium or A&M.

Mesquite isn't much farther away from Southlake than Irving (about 20 minutes more). It wouldn't be very neutral. If Lufkin is going to drive over three hours, they might as well make SLC drive the same distance.

Besides, how many people does Mesquite's stadium hold? If they're going to play in an undersized stadium, it will almost certainly be Waco ISD.

Assuming SLC wins (not too much of a stretch at this point) - either way would be interesting. Maybe Lufkin shakes it up and rules out Waco again - but that's doubtful. A&M would then be a good selection - but not so for SLC.

But, if I'm SLC no way do I agree to play CCove at Waco - but, maybe I'm wrong. Floyd Casey and Waco have been kind to SLC.

A&M would be less favorable to SLC than Waco in terms of travel, but if Floyd Casey is unavailable, I'm not sure either coach would want to play at Waco ISD again. It's just wayyyy too small.

To be honest, I'm not quite sure why Lufkin has been so willing to play in Waco in the past. Doesn't it take about 4.5 hours to get there? It's a much easier commute for SLC. A&M would be an equal commute for both teams.

I'd like for the game to be played either in Austin or in the DFW area. If it's in Austin, I can make a way to go. If it's in DFW area, it would be easier for me to "stop by" on my way back to Austin from Shreveport.

I have a feeling if this game does go down, something will happen and I will not be able to attend.

Waco is just under 3 hours from Lufkin - driving somewhere near the speed limit:). So, yes, geographically A&M would be 45 minutes shorter for Lufkin - and, what, 1.5 - 2 hours longer for SLC? Agree totally on the ISD stadium -that never happens again in a semi-final match. If SLC plays CCove - I would assume that happens at Floyd Casey.

In terms of this year - I think Lufkin has lost two coin flips - played in Waco both times (including this game) and A&M was not available for Hays Consol - so Waco was agreed to as a neutral site.

Actually, College Station is only 3 hours for SLC.... maybe 3 1/4 if you drive closer to the limits.

Lufkin folks need to not talk about this just yet, not that I don't have confidence. It is just not something you talk about when you still need to play a top rated team like Copperas Cove.

Then again some people will talk about what they may do in the playoffs next year. This is a wasted topic until it actually happens.

If it happens I see a repeat of last year. SLC will most likely come out on top with a last second win, although right now it doesn't look like they will win with a FG.

actually, our fg and xp kicker is a pretty fair hs kicker. as a soph he has a ways to go, but how many hs's have a soph kicker who's already made one from 42. we have been so used to drop dead terrific kicking that average doesn't look too appealing.

good lord no!! La Marque played 1 5a team this year and that was Galveston Ball and La Marque only won 20-19. I think Marshall or Highland Park in div1 is the best 4a team's though. I would put La Marque as the 3rd best. I think Marshall will do it this year after losing in the finals by 1 point to Ennis last year. Marshall's only loss was to 5a power Longview by double digits. La Marque should be happy they are in 4a div2 this year.

Whoever Lufkin plays - it is going to be a coin toss for texas Stadium or SFA in Nacogdoches.

Can any Lufkin Fan tell me about SFA Stadium. Capacity? - Real Grass or Artifical?

Says capacity is 14,575 and has Momentum 51 surface. That would be a full stadium...

The Lufkin paper says the Plano/SLC winner will be a home/home flip with Lufkin - Texas Stadium or SFA at Nacogdoches. SFA is a good field, but well below average stadium. With grass seating (not bad sitting on the grass) - it will hold 24,000 pretty handily. I'm assuming Lufkin loses another coin toss - I think John is 1-5 on coin tosses this year. I was hoping for a Kyle Field venue - obviously no one shared that view.

Instead of trying to figure out "How will be beat Carroll?" opposing coaches need to figure out "How do we hold Carroll to under 40?" then the question becomes "How do we score points in the first half on Carroll?"

I'll say 3.75 to 4 hours. Nac to Dallas is about 3 and change - so add 45 minutes to SL? It's not an easy drive - no direct freeway.

I see. Here is the mapquest link for the drive:

It is 206 miles and about 3.5 hours using this route.

Probably 3.5-4 hours. I would leave the house early if it's at TS. And I would allow time to go to the ATM for the extra cash you'll need when you get raped by Jerry at TS.

I know when my son went to SFA in Nac we drove it in 3 hours and I am west of SL.... I guess that makes sense from Lufkin to expect 3.5 hours. On a weekend the drive from TS to SL is only 20-25 minutes and the traffic is not bad. Around the stadium however it may be a different story.

I could once again mettle in some Xs and Os, however the main thing is just not to play outside of yourself especially on offense. One thing I sense from the Plano players is the right mindset, their's a QUIET CONFIDENCE. The key to actually keeping Carroll's points down is matching their execution in all 3 phases of the game. People who don't watch Southlake dont realize how much points they get from their defense and excellent special teams play. Its not often I provide a score, this game personally reminds me of 2005 ND/USC in honor of that my score is 35-31....O yeah who wins..........SOUTHLAKE
