8 of our top 9 preseason...

Of course, one can never be too sure about how the playoff pairings will shake out, but I think it's pretty cool that 8 of the top 9 teams in our Preseason Rankings (http://www.5atexasfootball.com/2005_preseason_top25.htm) are still playing in Week 14!

Plano, Cy Falls, and SA Madison are the only three teams remaining who weren't ranked coming into the season...although, we did designate Plano as a preseason darkhorse. Last year, we had Judson and Westfield as darkhorses.

Congratulations to all of the final 12 teams! To be playing December football is an outstanding accomplishment. Good luck this week.

Back in May when we were finalizing the rankings, we thought we had a clearly defined top tier of teams this year. However, we felt like things got pretty cloudy outside of the top 7 or 8.

First of all PH they have every right to bragg. The old standby Dave Campbell has missed the mark so many times in the last few years it is still a wonder they publish a magazine at all. These guys are very knowledgeable and work hard at making their site as great as it is. It is not as easy as it looks. Now if that was a joke I also understand and let me say my apoligies now. This site has an 80% mark on top ten teams still in the playoffs, and Dave has a 60% mark. His misses were Tyler Lee, Longview, Westlake, and Churchill.

Somebody with more time on their hands should do a top25 breakdown of the two prognosticaters. I am sure they would both tell you picking slots 11-25 is a lot harder than 1-10.
