Matt Brown will play, according to head coach Westerburg- http://varsity.oaoa.com/articles/leija_2962___article.html/speed_injury.html

That doesn't say he will play.

"
>> FROM THE RUMOR MILL: Speculation has been flying on high school football message boards about the status of Allen quarterback Matt Brown, who received an apparent shoulder injury in the Eagles' win over Coppell on Saturday.
A Dallas Morning News article reported Brown was scheduled to have X-rays on his non-throwing shoulder on Sunday.
And that speculation has Permian fans wondering if Brown will play Friday, but Allen head coach Tom Westerberg didn't acknowledge an injury to his starting quarterback Tuesday.
"He's fine," Westerberg said. "We sat him down because we were up big at the end of the first half.""

Which part of that does imply he will play?

"Tom Westerberg didn't acknowledge an injury to his starting quarterback Tuesday."

Certainly not.

"We sat him down because we were up big at the end of the first half.""

That could be because they don't want to give any more info out about his injury, if he has one.

I believe that Tucker will be doing his thing @ QB.

It's tough the injury bug. Especially to such a key player like Brown. Allen is a great team tho, they looked pretty effective running the ball with #3 when they wanted to.

You gotta remember Westerberg is being real foxy like this year. See, I've said it before and daw gone it! The fellow is being downright diabolical. Like the way he sandbagged that Trinity game and you couldn't even hardly tell. Westerberg and that wirey, spunky, smart as a whip coach Fleener.

Dang boy you can smell something cookin up there on the second floor of the Athletic Complex and it ain't that wonderful Mrs. Curtis and Mrs. Calton workin on a batch of cookies!! It's Westerberg and Fleener plotting some kinda diabolical plan.

I'm tellin you the rest of the coaching staff won't even get near them the smell is so pungent.

Whew! I'm gettin kinda woozy just talking about it.

I was one of those commenting on how poorly Matt played in that game.

He is NOT the same QB NOW that he was in the ET game.

He has grown quite a bit. I think he has grown into his "pads" so to speak.
A rematch would have been a sight to see, alas . . . . . .

You're correct there were some Allen fans ready to through him under the bus or to bench Matt for his play with the INT's as was the major difference in the game. Once he could have thrown it out of the back of endzone instead trying to force it in between two Trinity defenders and got picked off. Trinity won the game either way.

I thought TSUP summed it up best that both coaches were holding back knowing a possibility of a rematch in the playoffs. If you check the preseason picks it had that set at round 2 but since we verily beat Plano with all their starters out of the game and only had 11 players who were forced to play both offense and defense it switched Allen and Plano around in the playoffs.

I agree that Allen is more than one player and will respond very well to any change in their starting lineup. Good teams may have a small fall off at the loss of one player. But it would take an injury to several key players to completely derail the team, imho.

Yep, I totally agree....

If a "key" player is hurt, it certainly hurts the team. However, when you are a passing team and your QB gets hurt, you put 9 guys in the box and dare him to throw. You can't run, so you have to pass. If you don't have the experience and you put a lot of pressure with 9 guys, you probably aren't going to be very successful passing. Oh boy, it was a good season, maybe next year....

KattTx

But they - Allen specifically - sound like a solid team with a promising back up for that one position. So, I suspect they will come to play at close to the same level.

MOJO94

From what I have seen on the video clips Allen has some great players along with a very good O line. If this backup QB has the talent that the Allen posters say, then this will still be a coin flip IMO. These two teams are alot alike, also IMO. I will also say no matter who starts for Allen if the panthers can not get a pass rush they will have a long day and a sad drive home.

We will be fine, Tucker can beat anyone with the pass better than Matt probably could. We still have a running threat in Williams who went for over 200 yards and 4 TD's last week. Eazy had 2 TD catches last week. Don't doubt it, Tucker is very capable of doing the job.

Don't forget....#89 has been pretty quiet these last couple of games, too. I'm looking for a breakout performance from him. He's made some amazing catches this year, so here's hoping #11 can get the ball to him a few times (preferably in the end zone).

That boy is a man amoung kids and it will be very very different without his legs on the field. Allen is not a dsicplined running team, Brown got his yards sending his recievers down field then makong the d line look like there stuck in the sand

lol so we all think because matt was in a sling last week it wasnt more for roleplay and precatuion than a real injury. i think it was just a stinger and that he will play. our training staff keeps all our players (especailly our good ones) in pretty good shape. i think its just a setup. and he will play. but i could be wrong

We just have too many weapons in the arsenal to use them all. Crying shame I say. :D

Permian Will throw the kitchen sink at us and regardless of the outcome things will be fine. The best team will have won. Just no more injuries on either side please.

One of our teams will have a rough game coming up next week and will need all the boys healthy.

~Permian has many weapons on the O as well. The D on the other hand does not have a complete stand out....they play well as a team. Can they shut Allen down? I think not. With the O for Permian clicking, then D just has to make a few big stops...... we will see on Friday if they can.

Someone ask about what to expect with starting QB out for Allen and get normal response from you. All I have to say is How about those Eagles! 10-1 and done. :D

Now I know why they call it Turkey day.:p

Have not seen either Allen or Permian play. With a healthy Brown Allen should win, maybe easily. Permian is an unknown. Great record, margin of victory very impressive, but strength of schedule is questionable. Allen has played the best Texas can offer, and has peaked for the playoffs. Hopefully, Brown is healthy. In that case the real best team would have to go through Trinity to win the state champoionship. Don't care which team wins, just don't want any what if's? after all is done.
