Got to disagree on Region 1 Player of the week. Nance at Trinity had a Great game but against a inferior opponent in El Paso Frankin. Everyone knew Trinity would win and put up huge numbers and they did playing a home game at Texas Stadium against a team just thankful to be around in the 3rd round.
Plano goes on the road and Sfikas rolls up more yards on less carries against a far more superior team in Midland and doesn't get Region 1 honors. Bad pick
Comparison of Nance vs Sfikas
Nance 269 yards on 27 carries 10 yard average 4 TD
Sfikas 274 yards on 21 carries 1 TD almost 14 yard average
Who had a bigger game? SFIKAS

I've chosen Sfikas about three times this season (at least twice) and haven't recognized Nance in a while, so I went with him this time.

Yeah, that's funny - the Plano qb has lived on that spot. Please, KT -- whatever you do - don't jinx Lufkin and pick the Panthers or a player on your selections this year - we're doing just fine without your accolades;)
Just messing with you - I complained once - but not again my friend. YOu did pick us to take the region - and that's all that matters.

you could have flipped a coin between the two.
i do think Sfikas' performance was probably more impressive and important to the Plano win.
not to mention 3 or 4 of his carries were kneeldowns at the end of the game that just drug down his per carry average.
the one thing is he didn't get the ball in the endzone as much as Nance.

He's good ball player and if he deserves it that week then you should give it to that week. I don't think you should pick a player just because he hasn't been on their in a while.
That's OK. You do a great job on this site. Is this a full time job for you?

:D :D Geez!!!!!!!! What's a kid got to do???? Nance could have broken 300 with eaze. He didn't play like the last 6 minutes of the game. I know we don't play nobody, and that kind of stuff along with over 3/4 of the people on here are just waiting for us to lose. That kid at Plano is very good. Nance is the best back in the state and is very deserving of 5A player of the year consideration. He won't get it because of the Trinity hatred out there, but he would get alot of votes from around here.

ha ha. best in the state? i dont know about that. He is certainly very good. Clearly in the top 10 in the state. But i don't know how you can think he is the best. He is as much a product of his huge dominant offensive line as he is good. The guy's got skill- but he isnt the best. Put him behind an average o-line and let's see how he does- about average i bet.

You are just like the rest of these non believers. Granted we have a big line ,but how the DB'S abd LB'S he fakes out of their shoes. Having a very good OLINE is part of the game isn't it? In closing I've defended this kid all season and if there is another back in the state as good let me know! PEACE!

Completely unbiased observer here: Nance is the best RB in the state. He and the FB are both absolute studs and workhorses.

Thank you Nate I finally have some support. He might break 3000 yds. (playoffs included) and 40 tds. That's not enough though I bet because he's from Trinity he'll be looked down upon.

I hope you're joking. Nance is clearly in the top 3 backs in the best rb state there is. I'm not saying he's better than McGee, but he's in the top 3. Gimmee a break.

how does that work ? I mean where does it end ? so Mcelroy from SLC is good but put him on a team with no receivers and how will he do ? average ? or put him on a team with no line where he gets no protection and how will he do ? - average ? - put him on a running team - say Katy or Judson and how will he do ? average ? - how about Mckay and Renfro - put them on a team with a terrible QB or a team that throws 10 times a game - how will they do ? average ? I guess if you put Plano's QB on a team with a weaker line than the one he has he will do --- AVERAGE Right ? they must have a pretty decent line out there in Plano for him to get the results he did or was he doing the blocking too ?

How many all state lineman is Nance running behind? Probably none. Just because the line is big doesn't always mean its good. Look at Carter's line...Big but not very good. He can play on my team any day!
