once upon a time in the land of 5a texas football there was a a little bulldog that wanted to play with all of the big animals. he got a chance to play with the mighty East Texas Panther, but he was a little scared. first, the Collie at A&M said the Panther and the puppy could play at his house known as Kyle field, but, the puppy thought that was to far from home. so, he wanted to play where the Bears live known as Floyd Casey field. then he was scared to play in the day time, even though all the other big animals like Tigers, Dragons, ect. came out to play during the day. he thought the Panther could play better on saturdays and that on saturday the Panther could bring more fans than on friday. he forgot that felines can see better at night and that the fans will come no matter what!
for the end of this story turn the page to friday the 2nd of 2005 and read how the Mighty PANTHER plays with the little bulldog and then sends him home with his tail between his legs!

Don't worry LP Mom - these folks don't see the obvious humor in this one - and they've only been on the forum 3 days so they don't know who you are. I thought it was funny. Coach Welch clearly wants as few LP fans as possible at this one - thus his site/time selection.

It is so amazing that each year and year out that so many fans from other teams come here to talk crap about there team when there team finally makes it to the 4th round. one thing is for sure no matter what has happned. there has always been Lufkin fans, katy, woodlands, garland, tyler lee and SLC, and many others on this board this is the first time i see the mighty Cove fans on here and they are treating Lufkin like we just suck and play in a weak district and all of that stuff. again lets look at history we been there done that and we are doing it again. so to all the cove fans and band wagon fans because they are from the centex area and you feel it is your right to jump on there bandwagon that is find go ahead and show up at waco and cheer for them but just know that your team is at home not playing and you are cheering for a cove team that beat your team and you would just like to see the panthers get beat. hey that is cool.
ONE THING is for sure equipment turn in will be that monday after the game the team no one knows yet.

thanks son and favpac for having my back. there is nothing wrong with a healthy dose of a little of the right kind of trash talking. way back in the day we had a lot of stories like this on the board. remember when that fire breathing dragon burned all of the panthers fur off and they found a little piece of it on the judson rocket and they saved it and genetically engineered to grow its fur back thicker and stonger! (and bulldog proof)

hey mr. wood just went to the website and looked at yalls roster and stats and thing.
this game is going to coem down to whoever makes the least turnover and who's coach can make the second half adjustments i am sure that yall will do some things that we have not seen like harker heights did to us they had us confused. so which ever side makes the best adjustments and withstands that opening kickoff rush and shakes off the big plays.
I would like to have lufkin make yall throw the ball. i think our DB's can matchup and have some sucess if we get some pressure on your QB. which ever team can make the other depend on one thing or the other will win this game i thing it is going to take a balance attack for this game to be won on either side.
GO PANTHERS.
I am going with the pack by 7.

i think it matters how yall o-line plays....we are small and quick....we have a 5'4" kid at DE....our d-line changed the leander game by makin the QB run round....hopefully well do the same to yall

we had a young o line to start the season they have got better each game.. the thing thati think will help us is that we practice against small quck d-line everyday inour own so that will help but it helps your o-line to practicing against yall so again another grat matchup across the board i dont see any thing bad about both teams except for Lufkin has got lots of peanalties and that can play a big factor in field position we have to cut that out.
just like today the redskins got a holdign call that took them out of FG range and they missed a 53 yarder and lost in OT. mistakes can kill a football team so bad.

this has all the makings of one of the best highschool games in the state of texas. just hope it lives up to they hype. i mean SLC and Abaline was suppose to be a good game and SLC looked like the U of TExas just beating everyone bad.
i dont see that here. anyway have a good week of practice i am for sure the pack will. i like the Friday night game gives the kids something to lookforward to on a friday besdies staying up to late on friday and driving on a sat morning and playing a game i like the night games. that is the way football is suppose to be played UNDER THE LIGHTS.
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS IN TEXAS THE BEST THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a question about how the sites are picked for these games. I understand if they can't agree on a neutral site, and if they don't want to flip for a home and home, then they flip to see which one chooses the neutral site. Am I correct in that? And it sounds like that's what happened in this case with Welch picking Floyd Casey. I don't blame him, its the most logical one for Cove fans. I understand if Lufkin won, they would have chosen Kyle Field. What I don't understand is it seems like Welch chose the day also, picking Friday. Am I correct in this? If so, why was he the one picking it? I wondered why Cove and Garland played on Friday. To me it seemed like it gave Garland an extra day to prepare since they played the preceeding Friday. Just like how this week's game time gives Cove an extra day to prepare/rest. I'm just curious about the process on how game sites and game times are determined. I know there's someone out there that knows the answers.
Thanks in advance.

I heard this today at church, and this is just rumor and hearsay. The reason that Lufkin is playing friday night is because we have a Christmas parade on saturday, so I,m guessing that that want the band for the parade, don,t make much sense to me......but this is what I heard. Now won,t this be funny if this were to be a lie......being told to me at church...

Why do you suit up 100 kids only 11 can play at a time? Lufkin only brought up only about 10 kids from the JV, they will suit out about 75 or so.
I am glad we don't sit in the stands and growl like Panthers, I have heard the Dawgpound bark and it is loud, but insane. Imitating a dog bark or Panther growl is not my thing.
This game will be high energy for sure. Forget the Puppy and the Panther story. This will be two big boys getting after it on Friday night.

We only brought up about 45-50 or so. The entire JV Gold and some from the JV blue and the good freshman. It gets them to feel what a varsity game is like from the sidelines

Mom,
Where have you been? We've been missing your bedside stories this year. Don't let a few non-stayers discourage you from writing a few more. Now, tell me how the Rocket is going to scorch the Tiger from West Field. I'm sure the script is written. If you don't want to do it on this Lufkin/Cove thread I understand. There are a few on our teams so you can come on over. We'll take you anytime. Did you make your lemon pie for thanksgiving this year? :toke:toke:toke, man I miss that little guy!

The kids that get brought up are the ones that will be Sr's. next year, and the rest are some of the underclassmen that have a good shot at making the varsity program. In the game vs. Klein Forest some of the Jv bring ups even got playing time (don't expect them to get in much more this season but who knows). It does them good to have a feel for the game at this level and the atmosphere of the playoffs.
Yall bring yours and we'll bring ours, and lets all make some noise for all these kids.
Good luck, safe travels, see you in Waco
