Not many said that. Most people believed Oklahoma would jump Texas in the polls but the BCS numbers would keep Texas ahead. After last night I'm not sure that will still happen but not many Horns fans thought the polls wouldn't favor Oklahoma.

Yeah, I thought the exact same thing. Had they won by 7 to 10, they'd still be behind Texas. When they started ****kicking them and were up by 50 points, I knew OU was going to pass Texas. A lot of Horn fans I know really wanted Texas to be ahead but in their hearts knew OU would pass them.

Now, Texas fans have to be cheering for Ok State.

How will that help?

How will that help?

If Baylor wins Texas plays in the Big XII championship game. Oklahoma may be slightly ahead in the BCS but if we play and win the Big XII we will pass them up again. Its unlikely (very, very, very, very unlikely) but still a possibility.

I never even thought about that... That would break the three-way tie...

And it would effectively silence every argument as to which team deserves the Big XII title. Thus improving my life considerably.

Wouldn't an OU loss put Tech into the BigXII championship? Texas fans should be cheering for a huge upset in Baylor... but Im not holding my breath.

Why does Texas fans want OSu to beat OU?? That would create a UT vs TT head-to-head consideration scenario. And there wouldn't be any argument, seeing as Tech beat Texas. Tech would then (without a doubt) go on to play for the Big XII Title.

Why avoid the 3-way tie??

Yes, but here's how that situation COULD play out.

At worst, Texas falls to No. 4 in the BCS.

Let's just go with
1. Bama
2. OU
3. Florida
4. Texas

Tech is landing consistently at No. 7 in the human polls, so we'll put them there in the BCS.

If OU loses to Okie Lite, that bumps them from No. 2. You'd move Texas to No. 3 behind Bama and Florida.

Florida and Bama still have to play for the SEC title. Assuming Bama wins against Auburn, they'll both hold their rankings going into that game. I'm picking Florida to win, which will knock Bama down from No. 1, again moving Texas up a spot to No. 2.

Tech, then, should move up two spots, but I doubt Bama or OU fall below them in the BCS. Tech will likely stay put in the rankings regardless of what anyone else in the top 5 does.

Now you have No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Texas, with Tech earning a bid in the Big 12 title game against No. 13 Missouri. Even if Tech wins that game, beating a two loss Missouri team won't generate enough BCS strength to jump over the likes of Penn State, USC, OU, Bama, and Texas or Florida. Tech winning the conference will earn them a berth in a BCS bowl, but it will not earn them a spot in the NC game.

The National Championship game would then be No. 1 Florida versus No. 2 Texas.

That's UT's safest option, although it places a lot of assumptions in motion. OU going to Stillwater and winning won't do the Horns any favors in the rankings.

Tech would play for the Big XII title but it would guarantee Texas a spot in the BCS title game. NCG > Big XII CG in my opinion...

Realistically the only way for Texas to play for the Big XII title is if Baylor beats Tech or Oklahoma plays awful against Okie Lite, still wins, and drops in the polls because of it. Both seem very unlikely so the best outcome for Texas would be an Oklahoma loss.

Yeah, sorry. I completely forgot that an OU loss to OSU would cause that tiebreaker scenario instead of a 3-way tie.

I can't believe you would care what the worthless AP says. Besides, I didn't hear and I certainly didn't suggest the trailer trash would jump Texas in the human polls. In fact, I said they would. That is why I said all that matters is the computer polls where Texas still has a pretty substantial lead which is why Texas is ahead of Mobilhoma in the BCS.

Take that Sooner. You got BEAT on a neutral site by Texas. Quit your crying and deal with it. You beat Tech at home - congrats - you should have beaten Texas on a neutral site - but you didn't.

I hope it stays like that - and it should - Texas should stay No. 2.

If you beat Mizzou? Big Whoop. Don't let Visor Bobby be a hypocrite. Remember his words when Little Game Bob choked it up to K-State a few years back. Oh, wait, maybe he changes his tune.
