Why does nobody use it anymore?

Our pass blocking is sort of a gap control scheme. So we slide to get to the gap that we block, though it's not to create a roll out. Most teams do still slide on sprintouts and boots though. It's not as dead as you think.

I have a question but didn't want to create a new thread. On the offensive line you have the center, a couple of guards and a couple of tackles. Maybe a tight end. Why is the offensive tackle called a tackle? It may be a stupid question but I have no idea why they call that position a tackle.

Plenty of people still use it. I went up against it a couple times this past season.
