What a fun season this was. From the opening pounding of Plano East all the way to the dissapointing loss to Copperas Cove, this team led all of us Owl fans on a thrill ride all year long. We'll never forget: Dante's third down scamper in Ennis. Voss running all over the Colonels. Ryan's TD agaisnt Naaman. Brandon's dominating game against Rowlett. 5 OT's in DeSoto. A packed HBJ to watch Carter/ Garland I. Rolling down the hills after the district title is secured. Johnny busting one against Lakeview. Star Wars? Three helpings of "Olympia". Voss crossing the goal line vs. JT, and the defensive swarm that followed. John getting hit to seal the win at Texas Stadium, which followed four quarters of defensive swarms. The "gaters" and their cans! Coach J celebrating the area title. Owl fans making a deafening clammor.

And we'll never forget watching you walk off the field, broken hearted, at Waco ISD. Knowing that, for many, your playing days are over, but your lives are still to come. Thanks for thrilling this Owl fan all year long. Take what you learned on the field and apply it to your lives, and I am sure we'll hear about your succcesses and accomplishments for years to come. You'll be Owls forever, and we'll never forget you.

What a ride it has been.

GIG 'EM OWLS!!!

District champs!

I was about to post something about the entire GISD. The district was great this year, and swept the always good "East Teaxs" teams in the first round. One team went to round two, and two went to round three. That says something for Homer Johnson, his staff, and all the coaching. Great year GISD!

Congrats to the Owls on another fine season. I was pulling for you guys the whole way. No cakewalk draw for Garland, that's for sure.

I wonder what realignment will bring this time around? I hope our playoff drought will end soon - that really makes you appreciate the playoffs!

Great memories for not only this season, but for me as a senior, the last four. 36 wins and 11 lossses in the last four years with exciting victories over North Mesquite (24-12 in '02), Lufkin in '03, Ennis and Carter in '04, and Ennis, South, Rowlett, TJT, and Carter in '05. Getting to see players such as Jackson, Rawls, Richardson, Tapps, Thompson, Quinn, Chalk, Hughes, Crane, Herford, Greider, Fodge, McCoy, Weiss, Sloan, McDowell, Murphy, Antwine, Crosby, Williams, and many others who gave me something to do on Friday nights. What a great four years!

Yep it is respect. I know that the Garland district would rather not play East in the first round, and it is a measure of success to get by that first tough test, BTW, better check your records, the east has not swept us constantly, as you say. Dont want to start talking records and stats, but the old
East Texas district, Longview, Tyler, Lufkin, Has I believe two State Championships in about the last ten years, and the old Garland Mesquite district has two. I may be wrong, JTs last ring may have come within 10 years. Also BTW, its good to hear some of yall trying to end the "Bad ref", stuff.

After the "constantly swept" comment, I looked at some records," sweeping". For the last ten years, playoffs, Garland Owls vs, "East Texas"
97. John Tyler 14-Garland 7, 2nd round
99. Garland 26-Lufkin 20, 2nd round (Garland, State Champions)
02. Longview 45-Garland 0, 1st. round
03. Garland 19-Lufkin 10, 1st round
04. Tyler Lee 28-Garland 10 (Lee, State Champions)
05. Garland 21-John Tyler 20
Great high school football played in east Texas and we just do our best.

I think I'm getting choked up...:p

But seriously. This season was freaking great. Next year will be better I'm sure. Good luck to all the seniors in tehir future endeavors and I'm proud to be an Owl fan. The final loss may have been a bit disappointing but it was the ending to a really memorable season. How long till next season?

yea, i'm with you, grayowl--good football being played in both areas.....the metroplex teams have always had my respect...hell, gotta give it to SG--we're 0-2 against them in the last 3 years!!!

Great! Then you won't mind forfeiting your 1999 season so we can add another title to the list...;)

the coaching staffs and adminastration, would question being "Metroplex". Except in non district games, the Garlamd district is isolated, and then plays east in the first round. Even our old rivals, the Mesquite teams are now "east Texas". With the NEW DEAL in Feburay, the uil may put in ten team districts, half the Garland schools could be part of the east Teaxs district, and half in the Plano Allen district. Then all seven GISD schools could make the playoffs! LOL:D
