Plano vs SLC next week. plano's dream all year has been to play SLC. Plano has to bring their A game to compete on the same level as SLC. If plano cant do that say goodbye to the state championship hopes. besides in my book i think any team who can beat SLC should be the state champ.

what does Plano need to do to win? Honest predictions only. be realistic.

tejasnole dont bring your weak smack talk in here. only classy discussion

Jordan needs to have one of his best games of the year (along with Sfikas) and the Plano defense needs to play the game of their collective lives. Oh, and don't make any big mistakes. That's as simple as I can think to put it.

basically nobody has given plano the respect we think ti deserves. and to be the best you have to beat the best. even if we lose to them at least we will go out fighting. Plano was the old powerhouse and SlC is the new one. Plano needs to prove to its self that it is still part of te elite. we arent afriad of SLC. bring it on :D

It is new school vs old school
its black pants and blonde hair vs traditional white helmets and maroon uniforms
Its option football vs the spread
Its a 7x state champ vs a 5x state champ
Its a battle of two great defenses
It is what high school football fans dream of.
From a fan stand point it is as close to a dream matchup as you can get.

Sorry guys, but when I think of dream matchups, I think of SLC/Katy, SLC/Lufkin, and SLC/SV. I would never have thought of SLC/PLANO as a dream matchup before the season started. However, you have had a great year. If this is a dual like the Abilene/SLC game was last year, then next year I will call this one a dream matchup. See you saturday.

Its a dream because of the history of both programs. Back in the late 80's and early 90's when Southlake was dominating 3A football, Plano and others were winning on the 5A level. The Southlake team of 92 was good enough to play on the 5A level and wanted a shot at the big boys. I still think that the 92 Dragons would have beat the 92 Farmers who finished 10-2-1. Now that Southlake is in 5A it is great to see the storied program of Plano go up against the current day king that is Southlake. So to us traditionalist who enjoy the pagentry of Texas high school football this is indeed a dream matchup.

i dont think for a second that plano will upset SLC. but you could expect that from me....still, i've heard how plano talks about waiting for this matchup for a while but who doesnt look forward to their game w/ SLC? everyone treats it like their superbowl and SLC's used to it...the hype of this game will be no different than any other in the past 4 years

To be the best you have to beat the best!! Thats why Plano wants to play SLC nothing more nothing less. It's the fans talking like that, not the players or coaches. Plano's coaching staff knows how to prepare for big hype game. Plano will come prepared and ready to play. Abilene is the one that got overhyped and Superbowled out for SLC and it killed them in the first quarter. That's because their coaching staff did not prepare them mentally to play. That won't happen with Plano.

SLC should treat this like any other game. Plano has no chance against mighty SL. In fact you should be able to leave at Halftime to continue your Saturday afternoon shopping. I say SLC by at least 3 touchdowns.:D

Here is my take on this game..........

SLC's offense is excellent and will beat Plano's "bend but don't break defense". SLC beats that defense for 2 years now. I do not think Brence will let coach Smith get as aggressive as he needs to with his defense. I am not sure we have the DB's to cover SLC's WR's. And please do not say about teams we played so far---they scored passing and SLC is far better than anyone we have played. Plano can stop SLC on a few drives, but SLC will score.
Plano's offense will be able to move the ball. JJ needs to find his heart and determination. If he can get determined the way SFikas was vs MHS, They will move and score. The big thing that hurts Plano is they never practice against a pass rush, and it shows when SFikas is rushed. If they would work with the QB's pass decision making instead of running all the time he would be better. I think the play calling will have to be super, not like other games. If we need six yards, pass for 6 yards not 30 all the time. After the fight between JJ and MS at the FMM game, JJ has steady went down hill from then on. If they find the chemistry they had the first 7 seven games, they can win this.
this is my opinion from all 13 games i've seen this year. I will be in my maroon and white hollering loud.

AS always with SLC. The opposing d-line needs to put pressure on the qb, or they will pick you apart. You can't depend on 17 yr olds to play pass coverage for an entire game. You have to force McElroy throw before he wants to. Easier said than done so far.
