I have read this on this site already.
About a new high school coming in the future to relieve Reagan and Johnson.
It's not happening. There is no more land. NEISD is maxed out for high schools.

What about NISD? We don't need anymore schools either. Sure we have the land and money but we don't need anymore schools to water down the talent pool of upcoming high schools.

its not about watering down the talent. its about proper planning. and functionability.

Thats just too many schools. Someone made a point a while ago that the NISD doesn't make high school to hold more anymore than 2,500. Thats just BS in my book, they need to start making schools capable of holding more students and stop a new high school every single freakin year.

They will probably have to do some major realigning of the attendance zones then. I think Reagan is still overcrowde, isn't it?

More schools = more teachers, more admins, more staff. Works out good for a lot of people.

And believe it or not, having a large talent pool to have good athletics is not a top priority.

the district will be realigned i figure. they have to be.

mac, lee, churchill and velt will be gaining students from the obvious south shift.

Isn't Reagan and Johnson barely hitting 2200 kids a piece?

I saw both schools recently, and they are pretty large schools...don't they have room to cram at least 1000 each comfortably?

yes

butttttttttttttttttt the area out there is still growing.
im talking about 2012...2013ish

when those schools get maxed the boundaries will have to shift south and will result in more kids at mac, churchill, lee and roosevelt.

The Reagan homepage says they are at 2415 - sounds about right. Probably will grow to 3000 or so by 2012-2013.

Johnson homepage says they are at 1816 - that number will go up fast since they have a very small senior class.

Good thing now they can start up a good feeder program with the middle schools.

I doubt that the resort with golf course will drive any HS enrollment issues.

It's the housing around it that is impressive.

That would do it assuming that families move in.

Sorry t-long, the NISD is never going to allow for bigger schools. I attended a Northside school when there were only 2 in the district. We couldn't compete back then and were just barely in 4-A, (highest classification at the time)

The only way a NISD school will ever be a contender is by luck of the draw that among those 2500 kids, the right number of athletes just happens to be there at the same time. It has happened a couple of times but never in football. Jay won a B-B title and Marshall a Baseball I think in 3-A.

I hate to say it but football just isn't going to happen on a consistent basis.

Do not agree with no more schools in the NEISD. If they need them they will find a place to build them, even if they have to tear someting down, until total build out for the District takes place; ie no more space to build housing.

Some of that housing out by the new golf course is JISD teritory.

Contrary to popular belief school districts don't build new high schools thinking what it will do to their football teams. Believe it or not it is about the kids and the education they receive. Many studys have been done showing that the larger the school the more students will slip through the cracks. It suprises me to find out how many students in San Antonio don't finish high school that start there in the ninth grade. Obviously NISD feels that 2500 is the magic number for students to get a quality education, not slip through the cracks and still be competitive in sports. I am sure sports is their last thought, if they think of it at all. :)

You are right although I doubt that thinking will gain a lot of support on a football message board. :D

Middleton has already said at a border adjustment meeting, moths ago, that 7 high schools is where NEISD maxes out. There is landavailable in their district for another middle school that would serve Roosevelt HS but that is it. No more land available in their district for another 4 year high school. I know Shooter was involved actively in NEISD activities and I am sure he has heard that as well. Hes a smart guy.
