I looked for somebody else in blue tonight on the visitor side, but never saw you. SP D was the best I have seen them tonight.

They are very well coached. Not a good thing with the mic being left on by the ref after the offsetting unsportsmanlikes, but why the need for the F-bombs? I never understand the need to cuss around kids when you expect them to not do so. I like what coach Chessher has done, but don't love the F-bombs. Wonder if he will be reprimanded for that?

As for TW, I have now seen the two worst acts of sportsmanship by a HS kid, and both have come from TW kids. Kyle Drabek a few years ago was the worst example as he would cuss out opposing coaches. Punk. The kid tonight needs some consequences for his actions towards the SP sideline.

I was on the lookout for you guys, but in a sea of blue.. yeah, no luck.. Thanks for coming out and supporting us, means a lot. I was a nervous nelly the entire game, couldn't sit down. Had to cover bass for one of my sick kids. Reading music and keeping track of a game is a biatch!!

Congrats to the Woodlands. I understand that emotions can run high, and in the heat of the moment bad decisions can be made. I'm just glad that, as far as I could tell, most everyone on both teams made it out healthy. In all sincerity I hope that your visit to the Centroplex was an enjoyable one, and that all the travelers make it home safe and sound.

I'm still waiting for that offense that came out for the G-town game to rear its ugly head. When you guys had us down by ten in the third, I witnessed an offense that I had never seen before, nor have I seen since. Methinks Coach Chessher is one sneaky tactician, not giving any future opponents too much to look at.

great game played by SP tonight. TW could not stop our d-line which contained there RB and sacked there QB at least 6 times tonight. QB did not look like a D-1 player as he threw 3 picks and looked scared most of the game. Offense played well enough to win but still need to improve if we're to advance a long ways.

TW had probably the worst sportsmanship i've seen this year and we've seen some pretty squirrly teams(cedar park). There was the aforementioned giving the bird instance as well as when a kid hit one of our players in the back after which our coaches started yelling then the kid turned around and started cussing directly at a coach right near a ref who didn't call anything!!! they also instigated a fight near the end of the game where the tried to gang up on #17 and start something. IF your gona lose at least lose with a LITTLE class.

Finallly i have to take a shot at the cocky Woodlands poster who've been spewing crap about how there team is god and the Green Bay Packers couldn't beat there team. don't start making excuses our trying to spin things in a false direction. you got beat by a better team and you just have to accept it

I have to say that this was a great game for Stony Point! Our defense dominated and our offense performed!

The Woodlands fan that made all those ridiculous claims needs to go home and watch the game film...The TIGERS were more than ready for the Highlanders and you were warned but you had to learn the hard way.

I said we would win by 20 and we won by 14, so I was much closer on my prediction than he was...

Coach Chessher and his staff had the Tigers well prepared and we will continue on our quest for a STATE TITLE!!!!!

Of course they are. Chessher is a former North Shore coach and I believe Mark Hopkins is also working in their program. I love to see our folks do well, it says something about the quality of coaches that Aymond has in NS.

Congrate SP! I picked TW to go all the way in D1. When they beat us, I was very impressed. You have got to perform in the playoffs. If what is being said about TW's sportsmanship is true, I am glad they are out. I just wish it was Katy smacking them down.

Congrats SP! Looks like the Woodlands peaked in week 2 against Katy this year and that isn't a good time to peak.

It's also the inability to grind out a win. No lessons were learned from the Lufkin game. Why not bring in a TE and a FB for extra protection for McCloud. The SP DBs were playing lights out against the deep ball. Little screen passes to the FB or dump passes to the TE would have been the way to go. It just seemed to me that the coaches were intent on getting it done with big plays on both sides of the ball. What they needed to do was to be patient, dial it down a little and put on time consuming drives. The over aggressive pursuit resulted in several good hits on the SP QB. Unfortunately it also resulted in 174 yds for the SP RB. The Woodlands could have gone all the way playing the way they do. And I thought they would. But they do not seem to have a plan B if somebody gets anywhere close to offsetting their explosiveness. Lasco has amazing physical gifts. But somebody should have been spending more time teaching him the fundamentals. Either that or simplify things for him a little by running option and setting him up outside. Did it once against Westfield with great success but never did it again in that game

In hindsight, the Katy game was the worst thing that could have happened to The Woodlands. Gave everybody, including myself, a false sense of how they could manhandle everybody. At this point, I'm not even sure they are that much better than last year's 3-8 team, considering the level of competition each team was faced with.

Where are all the Highlander fans now? Not too many coming in to post................................

I posted last week(or earlier this week) that in the end, the best team would win. That definitely was the case. I also said the game would come down to turnovers and special teams. Turnovers proved to kill us. I'm sure a lot of Highlander fans will say, "if" this and "if" that, but the bottom line is that Stoney Point beat us soundly and are a better team. The result of last nights game would be the same 9 out of 10 times. Glasgow Martin is a bad :Censor:. I can only hope Daniel Lasco is that good as a senior. Great coaching too.

Congrats to you all, and I'm out.................. Time to hit the MOJO threads, and hope for a matchup with SP..........

Don't get on your high horse SP. Your team is no bunch of saints -- every conflict has two a minimum of two contributors and two storylines. If you think your team’s a bunch of saints then more power to you when you get some refs who can actually keep a that crap from both sides under control.

Hey, smw358 if you have a problem with Kyle Drabek go post that crap on the Phillies board somewhere. He has nothing to with my son or the kids playing last night. Historically, your Oakes are no saints I’ve seen it first hand and posters here do pile on your team as well, so thanks for the drive by. I’ll keep that in mind following your team. As for soccer and sportsmanship I didn’t know the two were compatible.

Football wise it’s pretty simple
Your team had a better game plan.

Our team from the Katy game has relied on the big play to get it done and has not sustained drives all year. Woodz defense was flat worn out.

When this coaching staff can say “I could have done some things differently” then they will be able to go deep in to the playoffs.

twcpfan1 nailed the Woodz never had a plan B that included a system for grinding out yards and eating up the clock.

Hats off to Stony Point you’re a very good team and you should be proud your accomplishments.

Nice win for Stony Point. SP defense really rocks. However, I think it was a closer game than it appears on the surface. TW was fortunate to only be down 14 at half. In the 3rd quarter, it seemed that the TW was getting their act together. They executed some explosive plays and got some good stops. When TW drove the ball deep into SP territory trailing 14-7 it seemed the momentum was changing, but TW failed to score. It was around this time that Lasco started limping. I think Lasco's ankle bothered him the rest of the game. He was not the same threat to run and TW never got in a rythum after that.

Stony showed maturity and discipline by not loosing focus. Earlier this year, this kind of game would have caused SP to get baited into personal fouls and bone headed mistakes. Good job maintaining control.

Congrats to both teams on a fine year. Let's not forget where the Highlanders were in early August.

The Woodz 2008 sounds like Lufkin 2006 - too much reliance on the big play to bail you out - recipe for PO disaster for sure.

Congrats Stony Point - definitely a "put us on the radar" win!

We had an original and innovative game plan against Katy. Surprised the crap out of you guys -- No one had ever seen the Woodz play that way. By now we're just another spread offense with a good defense that likes to gamble. With some tweaks and two more years of Daniel Lasco this Offense could be deadly with those Katy style innovations on a game by game basis.

Stony Point was the better team last night best of luck the rest of the way. #5 and #4 are big time on D as well as #7 on O.

Give TW fans time to wake up or drive back before whining about them not showing up...it was a long night.

Anyone thinks the extracurricular was one-sided is ignorant. It was an emotional hard hitting game. The F bombs that broadcast on the ref's mike by SP's coach were part and parcel of some emotional language used by SP coaches on the sideline directly to some TW players during the game. The true sign of sportsmanship was how everyone lined up and exchanged congrats and hugs after the game. The conflict ended when the game ended and SP is on to the 3rd round, congratulations.

I said something about Kyle Drabek, too, because the most disturbing thing about both his actions against Georgetown and the kid last night flipping the SP side off, is that the coaches didn't do a thing about it. That makes them related to me. I see it as a pattern of behavior that is condoned.

With some tweaks and two more years of Daniel Lasco this Offense could be deadly with those Katy style innovations on a game by game basis.

Thank you for the Katy props ... way cool.

Man, give em some time to drive back from Austin. A lot of them are probably still there. The rest of them probably got home real late last night and wasn't up at 5am like I was.

What does Oak know about traveling out of their backyard in the playoffs? After I grab a couple of more hours of sleep I might start a new thread about all time records between TW/Klein/Oak for the crybabies venting in this thread.

Time here is better served giving the sTp's the props they well deserve.

I did not post it I quoted it! Looking back to after the Katy game ya'll were going to be State Champeens! Don't get yourself in a tussy because of what I quote .....that was the opinons of fans all across the state! I just happen to remember TW's smuggness after the Katy game and Look at ya nnnnowwww! As far as what other poster's say or not say about KO, who gives a flyin crap? We can handle it. And by the way....a drive by is when you don't know who done it.....I came at you heads up! ;)

Every team's goal should be to win state! Confidence according to your standard is something only one team in each division can afford. Had the Woodz continued to play at that Katy game level there would be a different story today, but alias the best team won last night.

Driveby is when you have no dog in the hunt - Just taking pot shots for fun.

I may be wrong because I couldn't see everything happening on the SP sideline from the far stands, but I'm pretty sure that the kid you are talking about was removed by the coaches did not return to the field after that incident.

Thanks for pointing that out. Good to hear.

Thank you....there was a lot of taunting going on towards the end of the game including after the game. SP coaches could have avoided a lot of what happened at the end of the game by just taking a knee instead of continuing to run #7 until the clock ran out.

Anyway, SP has a very good defense and that could take them a long ways in the playoffs. It was a fun season for The Woodlands and hopefully it will be something to build on for the future. SP was the better team last night. The early turnovers killed TWH and they just couldn't recover. TWH defeated a lot of teams this year by dominating the turnover margain and that went against them last night. I will say that my next son that is coming through the program really enjoyed going to the varsity games this year and is more excited about playing football now than ever before. Once the dust settles, I hope these players can appreciate that they brought the football excitement back to The Woodlands after last year's disappontment. I know my son and his friends are looking forward to continuing what they've started.

Good luck to SP the rest of the way

It is intresting to see that TWHS fans post and talk smack ALL SEASON LONG and then it takes to post #30 to show after getting your arse kicked !

Typical Woods stuff talk the talk but never walk the walk -- see ya next yearhttp://www.clipartof.com/images/emoticons/xsmall2/2129_waving_goodbye.gif (http://www.clipartof.com)

First and most important regarding this thread is congratulations to Stony Point for winning the game last night. They played a very good game.
I have enjoyed this forum all year but it is sad to see all the bashing that is going on. NOT ALL fans from The Woodlands talked smack all year long. I didn't put down other teams and their fans when they lost to TW.

As far as not not putting up a post until #30, like most TWHS fans, I did not get home until early this morning. I can't speak for anyone else but I do have a life other than this forum. So I apologize for not setting my alarm clock and putting other family responsibilites on hold so I can start participating on these threads.

On two other points and I mean these with as much seriousness as I can convery typing:
1. SP fans, players and coaches, congratulations I wish we could have given you more of a game, but you guys beat us like a drum.

2. I'm not very proud to be part of a program that would be talked about as you've described on the sporstmanship or lack of it. I apologize, we should be above all of that.

No excuses, no blaming, we walk away having tried and hats off to SP!!
This shows that poor sportsmanship is not across the board at TW. Good post.

I think it was #46 on the defense that got pulled out at the end of the game for his antics.

Anyways, Great game to watch. Congrats to the Woodlands on a good game and best of luck in the upcoming years.

Stony Point won this game because of their defense. Plain and simple. The offense for SP was bad. They scored their first TD on a Woodland Fumble inside the two yard line( great catch and reach out by the receiver for the TD BTW). The other two TD's were set up by two Statue of Liberty plays that resulted in a TD and the other one that went inside the redzone.

Bottom line, SP needs to work on thier O if they want to get past the next round. I know that teams may come out flat, thats football.

I hope that everyone made it home ok.

Great game SP and good luck next week.

They did do a good job with the O somewhat. The coaches were calling some bad plays in my O. The only reason why they got the 2nd and 3rd TD's were on somewhat trick plays. They weren't consistantly driving the ball to score. They did a good job with clock manangement.

Congrate SP! I picked TW to go all the way in D1. When they beat us, I was very impressed. You have got to perform in the playoffs. If what is being said about TW's sportsmanship is true, I am glad they are out. I just wish it was Katy smacking them down.

Do you play for Katy? Were you down on the field with them? If so, what was your personal experience? If you weren't down there with them, why don't you ask some players you might know what their experience against TW was like.

It's incredible that all of you will take one or two incidents that may very well have been caused by provocation and label an entire team and/or community as unsportsmanlike. It's very narrow minded and uneducated.

I am talking about when the kid flipped off the SP side. Something like that is visible to everyone, just as Coach Chessher poor choice of words to the officials was heard by everyone. There is no way that kid should have been allowed to continue playing by the coaches, and coach Chessher should, and I would assume probably will, be reprimanded for that kind of language. However, there are tons of coaches who think it's alright to cuss like that in the "heat of battle". I think they are hypocrites.

Ok. Here goes:

1. First and foremost, congratulations to SP on a good win.

2. TW defense did exactly what they were expected to do. If you go check all the pre-game posts, all signs pointed to limiting SP to 21 points. Done.
2a. The first SP score came after a TW fumble inside the 5 yard line. Kudos to SP for being able to punch it in...but it was practically a gimmee.
2b. The two big run plays from SP on 3rd/18 and 3rd/20 were a direct result the crappiest coaching decision ever. Why would TW call for a blitz in that situation? It's absolutely mind boggling.

3. The TW offense did not do their job...at all. They would have had a better shot at scoring with a super model than scoring in that game.
3a. Turnovers were the key to the game. Period. TW turned over the ball more in this one game than they have in all other games combined. Props to those instances where SP forced the turnover...but there were just as many unforced fumbles and interceptions. It was sickening to watch.
3b. When it was obvious that SP was blitzing from the outside (both sides), why wouldn't you change the offensive scheme? Especially after the same thing happened against Lufkin. Add a TE!. Get the TE and RB to pass block to give the QB a chance to get rid of the ball. If the long ball isn't open, either one of those guys is open for a screen pass.

Summary: TW got their butts handed to them. End of story. However, even after the extreme whipping on the field, SP is not a scoring team and, as someone suggested, they cannot score at will. They will get stopped in their tracks by the next team who has a defense similar to TW but with the added ability to score some points. The SP defense did what they were supposed to do against a clumsy, suffering offense. Hats off to some aggressive, well coached defensive sets.

Overall, with the exception of very few players, SP is undersized. TW had them outsized in every category but, as was proven last night, as with statistics, size doesn't matter.

My dad was a coach for 16 years and a teacher for 33. My brother is a coach and teacher now. I understand it goes on, but that doesn't make it right. Neither my dad nor my brother use(d) that kind of language, especially toward the kids!

I would agree with your statement about separating what is seen and done, but if...if...the SP coaches were saying anything to TW kids on their sideline, then that needs to be dealt with by the officials and the school eventually. No call anywhere for that. However, still doesn't justify the action of the kid by flipping off the SP side.

You're really holding on to that incident, Shamu? Did you have some extremely negative personal experience that would cause you to put such emphasis on this? Granted, if it did happen (can't see it on film), it shouldn't have happened but I'm pretty sure it's not the worst thing that happened by either team that night.

My discussion is with the kid from SP, btw, and that's why the converation continued, but it's about accountability. There seems to be none. I could never imagine a kid from Georgetown ever doing that and getting away with it. I have now seen something similar happen from a TW kid twice without repercussions. Surely not all the parents and coaches in TW allow this kind of behavior from their kids? Maybe I'm just old fashioned and naive, but it bothers me as to what is acceptable in society these days.

How many times did SP turn the ball over. Was it 3? I can't remember.
the only actual turnovers we had was when Glasco fumbled but we did have 2 turniver on downs if you want to count thise we would've had 3

Ok. Here goes:

We were limited to 21 points because of TW D. To say SP is not a scoring team yet put 21 on TW makes your D look weak.

I said something about Kyle Drabek, too, because the most disturbing thing about both his actions against Georgetown and the kid last night flipping the SP side off, is that the coaches didn't do a thing about it. That makes them related to me. I see it as a pattern of behavior that is condoned.

You obviously don't know Coach Schmid. It must have gone un-noticed by our bench. I certainly never saw it, but I did hear the SP coaches dropping F bombs when the ref accidentally left his wireless mic on.

As for the SP turnovers, they forced 1 fumble and also recovered the mishandled punt return. So that's 2. Andy McCloud had 4, but honestly I don't blame him for the 3rd. He threw a deep pass to Logan Rowe that was intercepted only because Logan misplayed the ball. That wasn't Andy's fault.

Now, for the meat............. If you look at the 2 losses that TW had this year, they were against legit teams with very good defenses. They scored a combined 20 points in those games. My question is this: If you're a good spread offense team, shouldn't those teams have to beat you in a scoring battle, not a defensive one? Just a thought........... I don't think Lasco is a spread running back. When he exploded on to the scene last year against Westfield, he did it out of the I. He's not the type of runner(yet) that's gonna explode through the line and create yardage for himself. He needs space or lead blockers. I think had TW learned from the Lufkin game and mixed in some I formation stuff, the result could have been different. But it seems they got this attitude of thinking they're a high flying, high octane scoring team no matter who the opponent is, and that couldn't be further from the truth.

I'm not condoning any bush league behavior from TW players and I don't want to take away from a great SP win but my son personally took verbal abuse from SP coaches on the sidelines that rivaled what was heard on the ref's mike. Again, I think it is ridiculous for you to believe that the TWH coaches approve of bad behavior. I never saw the situation where one of our players gestured towards the crowd so I don't know who was responsible. But I truly believe that the TWH coaches would have removed that player if they were aware of it. In every instance that I saw last night of a TWH player being unsportsmanlike, the coaches immediately removed that player from the game. What else do you want at that time? Are they supposed to stop the game and make a public apology? The coaches removed the players and I'm sure will take appropriate action at a later time. How on earth would you know if there are repurcussions or not once they get back to school the next week? I know my older son was punished once by these same coaches for an unsportsmanlike penalty during a game. It wasn't typical of my son but everyone gets a little fired up every once in a while during competition. The coaches were sure to remind him the next week that what he did hurt the team and wasn't acceptable behavior.

well that i was 10ft away when that incident happened. The coach in question was yelling at the ref that it was a block in the back. as he was walkng off our sideline the kid turned around and started yelling directly at our coach pounding his chest and saying that it was legal and did throw some cussing in there. Our coach promptl yelled at the kid to get back on the field and then ask the ref that was also 10 ft away and saw the whole thing why it was an unsportsmanlike penalty which IMO was warranted

That's what is sad to me,that you think it's funny when a teenager feels brazen enough to flip off an adult, in front of lots of other adults, no less. The acceptance of this kind of language is what concerns me. I guarantee if an adult or kid either one is cussing like that around me at a football game with my children around, they will hear about it from me. Great pic! Thanks for sharing. Although we may tend to focus on the negative, high emotion part of this game, I think we can agree that the majority of the kids out there are great kids playing their heart out. SP, congrats on the win. Highlander defense did some great things last night--and you had to play alot. Highlanders, thank you for a fun, exciting season. It was a pleasure to watch. And to the seniors, best of luck in future endeavors.

Just curious, what's a "pooch" kick? I was unable to attend the game last night and the radio announcers kept call the SP kicks that. Also, does the HC have the option, at any time, to call up JV players to play in a varsity game?

Go Highlanders!

i was really impressed with TW QB and RB shaking all he players hands and telling them good luck, good for them after the emotion of the last couple minutes. to answer your question a poock kick is when the kicker kicks it high in the air about 20-30 yards to try to get a fair catch or a fumble from someone not used to feilding the ball. gives up field position to not get a long kick return. And yes Sp pulled up about 10 JV guys to be on varsity but alot of teams pull up more

Ok let's get off that moral high horse for a second. I was not at the game but it's safe to assume that it was a hard fought emotional game. Unfortunately, sometimes it manifests itself into bad manners and foul language by the coaches and players in the heat of the moment. Not condoning it. But I do understand how it can happen. I played team sports in the 70's. Played for different coaches. Some would use the F bomb just about every sentence. Some dont cuss at all. Just different styles. I would do the same thing you would if somebody in the crowd was using inappropriate language around women and little children. But players and coaches are out on the field. It aint Wimbledon out there. Everybody is trying to hit the snot out of each other. No time to think about people's sensitivities in the crowd.

For CP

We get our QB Parsons (plus a very good backup) and starting backfield back including a much improved Soph. A lot of confidence in returning players. If we keep chunking the ball like we did against Conroe, and have our fastest guys playing on defense, we should be ok. It will open lanes up for our very good running game.

Woodz.

They get Lasco, Lindsey and Knust back. JV was also very good from what I saw. They're not going away. Probably still should be favored to beat us. Expect a closer game though.
