Much congratulations to Clark, their offensive line dominated the football game. Pushed the smaller Mavs around almost at will all night.

Question for Ex-Mavs players. Someone told me tonight that the quarterback is not allowed to check off to secondary receivers. Once a pass play is called they throw to the primer receiver or nothing.

Numerous times tonight secondary receivers were wide open and the QB only throw to the primary reciever. On the last play #81 was running free down the middle and the QB stayed locked on the primary. Happened more then once tonight.

this is somewhat false and somewhat true. this is joey boyd from last years madison team. now i do not stay that informed with play calling and there is a new OC since rittiman left to johnson so things could be a little bit different but i doubt it. last year we would call a play like gun right 70 z comeback. all the recievers run a go route except for the z who runs a 18 yard comeback. he is obviously the primary target and should be able to get open at will but if the qb doesnt like it pre snap during his drop or even when the wr is at the top of the route he can check off to another wr that is spliting the safties for instance. that didnt happen to offten last year cus me and bryan were always on the same page and had good timing and feel for what we were each going to do befor we did it.
goodluck to clark and well played and coached tonight. the mavs do have something to look forward to next year and that is all the talent coming back. look for the mavs to make it all the way to state next year with green and williams running askew catching passes from anyone who can throw and saunders n caitlin anchoring the D. great year mavs.

mavs were overrated and clark was underrated..madison looked ahead to the next game and got skunked...they basically had two fluke scores..one on a botched FG and the other on a long gainer on a no catch..clark o-line dominated #67, #71, didnt catch the others..bulled the unprepared (mentally and physically) defensive mav line..they showed little endurance and no penetration.. on the defensive side the clark line penetrated every play and exposed the QB's skills for the mavs...poor play calling by the mavs not to air it up more to #8 and more cutback runs with #2...#87 is basically a little jason witten and made the mavs d-backs look like rag dolls...what game..I think I called clark to win by less but I will take this win knowing that the mavs would look ahead and have poor planning on offense and no gumption on the d-side..great job clark..too bad mavs didnt want this one..it might have been a game (considering the 3 fumbles by clark and the gimme touchdowns)..this could have been pretty lopsided...wow

Very impressed with Clark. Their O-Line and D-Line won this game. That was just old fashion smash mouth football. I sat in the endzone and could see the formations - I was very surprised Madison never seemed to adjust to the unbalanced line Clark was running. Madison's D-Line and LB's played on their heels most of the night. The defensive play calling never attacked the line of scrimmage.

Madison will be very good next year, but they really need to work on the D. Clark had the ball almost the entire second half - 10 plays on O for Madison in the second half.

You would think on the 5A level that coaches would have at least 1 man shift to the unbalance.

Clark had a great plan on D - attack the line of scrimmage and make Green bounce it outside - double Askew on the outside.

A sign of bad coaching - taking a delay of game penalty on the opening kick-off of the second half.

Adair Campbell. He's actually been improving every game. When we played Taft, he dropped two wide open passes. I think he made All-State as a punter last year.

Hayden was by far the player of the game. The key match up was him playing defense against the Madison wide receiver. Clark doesn't have anyone in that position that is tall or fast enough that could match up with him. I honestly don't know how he played both ways (quarterback/running back on offense & safety on defense) plus kickoff return for an entire game.

Hats off to Madison and their fans. You put up a good fight, and I was impressed with how the fans tried to fire the team up at the end.

To be truthful, this is probably one of the few years Clark will have a chance to go this deep in the playoffs. This is Jock's senior year, and Hayden will be a senior next year. Not sure whose coming up behind them. Does anyone in San Antonio really know that much about the Valley teams? PSJA's record doesn't look that impressive. Can't argue that. You guys better win tomorrow!! I've got to have something positive to report this week.

Honestly though, after seeing our coaches accept the loss with 6 minutes left, Clark deserves to move on. They really were the better team tonight. Just came out and hit us hard. Didn't look like they cared who they were playing against. Better game plan, bigger lines, better execution= victory in any game.

I'm not a coach. That has never been my ambition in life. But, I'm very familiar with the Madison program. It seemed this year was a divergence from Madison's game plan. Maybe we had too many new coaches to consolidate an effective strategy, but at some point I would expect the head coach to step in and make a final decision, for better or worse.

Too many people directing traffic at every level of offense and defense. I've never seen it work before.

Do not underestimate Warren. They tried playing the running game the first part of the season, and the Northeast teams trounced them. They changed to a passing, and they're a completely different team. Their two wide receivers are fast, and must be 6'2" or taller. If Reagan can contain them, or better yet, pound them when they go up high for a catch, they should win that game.

Madison has to many good athletes to be as bad as they were on D tonight. It has to be the coaching. The middle LB could be a complete stud, but someone needs to teach him how to get off a block. His pad level is to high and the guards were getting leverage on him all night. The coaches also aren't teaching assignment football. How many times did Clark run the bootleg for big gains? Stay home!

Thats what they do. No fancy stuff. Just grind it out/keep the ball away from the other teams offense.

I played against them in my high school days and their o-line is ridiculously well disciplined

Stay home!

I've got no answer. Hoards of Madison fans have been saying the same things. A lot of people will come to the coaching staff's defense, and admittedly it must be a harder job than most people think it is.

But when mistakes such as the ones committed tonight have been recurring over and over all season long, then to make the adjustments, then to return to the failed plan is just awful.

I'm starting to hear Obama in my head now..."TIME FOR A CHANGE!"

well ole clark beat down my madison mavericks and it makes me sick but hats off to the better team tonight no doubt...im pissed and have some bad things to say about my coaching staff getting dominated one more time...however i am going to refrain from speaking too ill of the staff...instead im going to focus on what i thought in my head all year and didnt want to admit but our team is young...offensively we were a young squad at the play making positions and didnt really have a true leader offensively...extremely talented no doubt and not sure anybody would doubt that..but hopefully next year we will develop that...kudos again to clark and best of luck making it too the finals...i do think you will win next week no matter who you play...

longhorn3
11-22-2008, 04:27 AM
this is somewhat false and somewhat true. this is joey boyd from last years madison team. now i do not stay that informed with play calling and there is a new OC since rittiman left to johnson so things could be a little bit different but i doubt it. last year we would call a play like gun right 70 z comeback. all the recievers run a go route except for the z who runs a 18 yard comeback. he is obviously the primary target and should be able to get open at will but if the qb doesnt like it pre snap during his drop or even when the wr is at the top of the route he can check off to another wr that is spliting the safties for instance. that didnt happen to offten last year cus me and bryan were always on the same page and had good timing and feel for what we were each going to do befor we did it.
goodluck to clark and well played and coached tonight. the mavs do have something to look forward to next year and that is all the talent coming back. look for the mavs to make it all the way to state next year with green and williams running askew catching passes from anyone who can throw and saunders n caitlin anchoring the D. great year mavs.
your a class act joey always loved you...you little terd..lol

longhorn3

mavs were overrated and clark was underrated..madison looked ahead to the next game and got skunked...they basically had two fluke scores..one on a botched FG and the other on a long gainer on a no catch..clark o-line dominated #67, #71, didnt catch the others..bulled the unprepared (mentally and physically) defensive mav line..they showed little endurance and no penetration.. on the defensive side the clark line penetrated every play and exposed the QB's skills for the mavs...poor play calling by the mavs not to air it up more to #8 and more cutback runs with #2...#87 is basically a little jason witten and made the mavs d-backs look like rag dolls...what game..I think I called clark to win by less but I will take this win knowing that the mavs would look ahead and have poor planning on offense and no gumption on the d-side..great job clark..too bad mavs didnt want this one..it might have been a game (considering the 3 fumbles by clark and the gimme touchdowns)..this could have been pretty lopsided...wow

talk about tools..this guy tops the list...your such a great picker by taking clark..or were you just a knob like most people think...you shoudl get all the credit for clark winning..the players or coaches had nothing to do with it right? all praise to rattlerfan..he is the man.....what a tool is an understatement...give credit where credit is due..clark played a great game and madison came with a bad game...all too many times this year we made bad coaching decisions..that happens and we deal with it and move on...but rattlerfan your lucky your behind a computer screen or id punch you square in the chops..you jack off

Yeah, that's the way, arm chair qb's and front runners. You are a perfect example of both. Were you calling for change last year? I personally have been saying Madison needs to move on with their coaching staff. Seems like every year at this time Madison fans are scratching their heads and saying "What the hell just happened?" or "I can't believe Streety just did that."
Maybe, just maybe the game has passed him by and it is a time for a change. Too many times he is questioned on his decisions, not only by Madison fans but others who watch the games.

The other thing that surprised me is that the Express News reported that Madison ran on 11 offensive plays in the second half. Talk about domination by Clark.

Oh yeah, I have to agree with longhorn3 and say that Rattlerfan is a real tool. I hope you lose today, karma has a strange way of coming back to bite people in the end. Good luck Warren.

These teams work so hard and it is SO disappointing when things just don't go right and you know your team is better. Madison has a really good team and will be back next year. Unfortunately, I don't think they ever see our teams play, so their picks are off of the paper "appearance" and the posters. If you notice, the squeaky wheel gets the grease (or attention). So of those ten, we've got left: Reagan, SV, Westlake, Warren, and Clark after 1 and 1/2 weeks. Plus the unranked Stevens, O'Connor, and Southwest (from the SA/Austin area--none of the South Texas/Valley teams were ranked). And at least three more of us (ranked or unranked) will be gone after today.

Well, you are a real DA too. So let me get this straight, if Madison doesn't win a championship every year, Streety needs to go?

So what would you have done differently last night? How would you have beat a much bigger, stronger DL and OL from Clark. It's funny when Madison wins its the kids, but as soon a better team beats them, its the coaches fault.

Im not a big Warren fan but I would rather see them on top then Reagan but then I want 265 to do well! AHH too many choices! ;)

I'm happy Clark won, I had them picked all along... Now they will get the winner of Sharyland-PSJA. I don't really beleive that either team has a legit chance against Clark, but Sharyland is MY TEAM. IF Sharyland can get past PSJA, Clark can look foward to a very balanced attack, no one has really been able to stop Sharyland, but then again we havent played San Antonio yet. I will say this, Clark and maybe the rest of SA shouldnt take the Valley teams too lightly, Taft made that mistake in 1999 when they played 7-3 Edinburg High. Edinburg came out and WHOOPED em', it has happened before, it doesnt mean it can't happen again. Good luck Clark, I hope for a good game, in the event of a blowout, which is what most expect, just know that we the Valley fans are just happy to be where we are and we just wanna play football too....

Like I said, coaching isn't my ambition. But you don't have to be a coach to see the formation mistakes we had on defense. There are a couple former Madison defenders on this board and I'm sure they'll back me up when I say that this year was unlike any defensive formation Madison has ever seen. It just wasn't suited to play to our strengths.

Why would I have called for a change last year? The defensive set was perfect, not to mention the fact that our guys on the field played out of this world.

Part of being a good coach, indeed being a good person, is recognizing a mistake and fixing it rather than being prideful and hoping for the best. Had you been to more games this year, perhaps you'd agree. We had awesome players on the field and more often than not they were misused.

I'm not going to defend some of the :Censor: rattler fans on this board, but believe me when I tell you this, all Rattler fans are of like mind when it comes to SV - we can't stand the school or team!

Nice job of your players talking smack to Reagan players in the tunnel after your win today. I know, you'll deny it as usual, but I see no reason for several Reagan varsity players to lie.

LMAO Im playing an online video game right now with your starting deep snapper right now and he is saying nothing like that happened...you are the tool that other posters claimed

The bridesmaid is always envious of the bride...While most of the city respects us reagan seems to be hated by many...wonder why that is?

Envy isn't a word we use when it comes to SV - hate maybe, but certainly not envy. SV is the only place in the district I can't stand to vist. Cars keyed, racial slurs, some redneck taking a punch at you because you looked his way, you name it, it's all happend at Smithson "Redneck" Valley.

As for bridesmaid vs. bride - how many football state titles has each school won? None! So when you win one, we'll call you a bride!

For now - we'll call Reagan the 2008 26-5A champion and we'll call you a bridesmaid!

I would say that there is a difference between being respected as good people as opposed to being a good team. You said people and a lot of the people I spoke to, view both our schools in an unfavorable light. And hasn't Reagan also been picked twice for the football classic? I don't know what the shootout is. And for Florida, I don't know what being good people has to do with that. I'd correlate that more with being a good football team.

Let's build a couple teams and settle this for real. Rattler, you build a team to come and play against CKE's team. No pads. Full contact tackle. This way, it's legal when y'all hit each other.

I still think you guys should have a punt pass and kick contest..then play a no contact flag football game..and then finish it off with some good ole' texas hold em'...

Full contact football at the very least. If y'all are going to be idiots, at least be idiots legally. Hell, if rattler can't get a team together, i'll loan him a couple of my guys.

first of all I am not involved in this high noon thing, second if I did decide to join in a full contact no pads thing..the whole city would come out to watch me play again creating too much of a distraction to me and might affect my play...third..I would rather play texas holdem and watch NFL on TV while eating costillas..I think you guys are silly..be safe out there

I make them with orange pepper, lime, minced onions, salt, pepper, garlic powder..marinated for about an hour and then cooked over mesquite coals..engish cut ribs..slice the meat off and then put them in corn tortillas..

that's for free dude..the next recipe will cost you

Not likely. You're not Marcus Wright. He's the only player worth anything to come out of Reagan. Nobody could name a player from Reagan's 9 year history outside the Reagan community.
