When all the "experts" make their predictions next week nine out of ten will have COVE as the underdog in this game and rightfully so. Lufkin has been here and done this before and this is the first time for COVE. Until they are beat they have to be the favorite coming out of Region II.

I think Cove wins, but they are the underdog in the public eye.

Ok, well SV may have beat Madison earlier, but i think that we are a much better team than we were 5 weeks ago, and we will still put up a fight. chris caflisch and tony green have had INCREDIBLE games the past three weeks, and our defense has proven to be very solid. we have had some tough games (clemens and clark) and we came through stronger than ever. it will be hard, but i think we can beat SV. We will not have a repeat of 2002!!!

I would - but I really don't think they have a snowball's chance. :D

Lets go Cove. :)

well what do you call a defense that stopped PSJA from scoring until the 4th quarter? There were many times that they could have scored, but we stopped them every time. PSJA was not a bad team at all, but they just couldn't handle our defense.

I think Cove is the underdog becasue this is their first time this far and first time playing Lufkin.
The only people (press and news staff) picking Cove will be those trying to pick the upset pick and taking a big chance with their percentages. The fans of course will pick their team to win and then we get the other teams fans picking who they think will win.
Both teams are pretty evenly matched in my opinion so this should be one of the best games this year or at least this week.

I say Lufkin has the edge with the press / news and maybe fan picks.

GO CYPRESS FALLS!!!!! WHOOP UP ON KATY!!!!! ;)

This is the way I see it...

Either this is a terrible pick (99% likely) or I'm going to look like a genius (1% likely). However, you must admit that I've probably just given Cypress Falls more positive comments that anyone else on this site. :D Go Golden Eagles!!!

1% is what you gave yourself. I believe any team can win on just the right day. I can say that we in Katy are not going to take you guys lightly. You have made it this far and you might win one game with luck, but not 3. So bring your "A" game because we are. I can't wish you luck, but I will hope for no injuries.

Honestly, Cypress Falls deserves much more than a 1% chance for victory. I was exaggerating to get the point across. I don't attend Cypress Falls and don't have much of a preference for this game, but it's definitely more exciting when the underdog puts up a good fight (win?). Of course, good luck to everyone.

F.Y.I.- I stand by my pick.

I see that you are from Richardson. Are you an SLC fan and picking against us. ha ha I must say that Plano has just as good a shot as Cy-Falls to win if not better. Good Luck to All.

Not necessarily. I'm obviously a Berkner fan first, but I support others as well. I actually don't prefer Plano or SLC. The only reason I'd want SLC to lose is to see the chaos on the forum...it might be a bit comical. haha Good luck to Katy if you play them. I'd definitely love to see that game live.

You have to admire the 26-5 district sweep scenario. Could have been same for 13-5 but some team from Lufkin (tic) managed to get by Harker Heights (Dist 13 3rd place team) in overtime.

How did 26-5A teams do against 13-5A teams they played this year?

Anybody know?

Still 13-5A proud

Wouldn't you expect that from a neophite "Scout Teamer" with two posts?

No disrespect for Lufkin here, or Conv Judson or RocketTRN for that matter...Just ribbing the "All American" a bit for posting everything he does with an excuse for CJ losing to Cove. The Converse Judson legacy speaks for itself.....no need for excuses. We've suffered from a Dawg bite or two ourselves, but they heel...oops, I mean heal.

You have to admit the Knights had you on the edge of your seat. Heights had Consol beat and then they gave us an open window. Ross knows how to get kids fired up! Had a pretty good 4A legacy @ Consol to show for it.

I will agree with you that Madison is playing better. They are doing great. The only problem with that is SV is not at the same level as they were 5 weeks ago...they are much better. SV also knows how to beat Madison, whereas Madison doesn't know how to beat SV. If they did, they would have won. SV took the first half to figure it out. This time, they won't need a half, and Hill will have picked out weaknesses to target in his gameplan that the Madison coaches possibly don't even know about. I want a good game on Saturday, but I expect a 2-3 TD win by SV

whoa whoa whao.....hold up. u call clemens a definsive strugle? they averaged about 38 points a game and we SHUT THEM UP and alowed 19 (12 on the first string) i say thats pretty good for a team that usually ran at will. clark was bad but when you see a big running back for the first time all year its different. yea we have gotten better these last 5 weeks but you have to realize so has sv. we r gonna have to work our a$$e$ off this week and i think itll be a dog fight. that 2009 must meen ur a freshman huh?

Cove 20
Judson 19

2 missed extra points, a missed FG, and a late Cove score did the Rockets in.

Of course i'm going with Madison. Mainly because i dont know enough about the other "underdogs" but also because the Mavericks DO know what they need to do to beat SV.

Just because they didn't beat them doesn't mean they don't know how to do it. The whole "mavericks have improved" reason doesn't go so far when it's obvious that the rangers prosper in the playoffs year in and year out,but neither does the reason of "the rangers already beat them". You guys say it ALL the time....forget the regular season, anything can happen in the playoffs. The guys have put the loss to SV in the back of their minds and are looking forward to the rematch.

SV knows how to beat Madison, right? Well, the Madison that played 5 weeks ago is obviously not the same team. They knew how to beat the old Madison...so if they focus on how to beat us the same way they did 5 weeks ago you better believe Streety is preparing to play a different game to mix things up.

I dont know if all that made sense, but it's just how i take things.

In order to beat SV, Streety will have to outcoach Hill. Do you seriously think he can do that?

Your right, they might have known how, but they couldn't excecute there gameplan well enough to do it. There is a difference between knowing and doing.

If the Rangers already beat the Mavs, that puts them ahead in the race, and Streety and his boys are going to have to sprint to catch up. The fact that the Rangers won the 1st time says that they not only know how, but they did beat Madsion. They have a gameplan that they know works, and with some adjustments they can start to work on much more specific details. Madison is going to be looking at the overall plan while SV is working on finding even more weaknesses.

A team doesn't change that much in 5 weeks. Don't get me wrong, they do change, but not enough to secure the team a win over a team that already beat them.

Even if Streety does mix it up, he can't change anything drastically. That would be stupid this deep in the playoffs. If Streety doesn't stick to what his team is good at, SV is going to have a field day. I am going to assume that SV saw everything at the 1st game

Very true but remember SV did it to westlake in 2002 (regular season Westlake won 28-7, Playoffs SV won 41-7)but i think it was like 7 or 8 weeks in between both games, I agree with the rest of your statement though. Cmon SV lets finally take state.
