I think Lufkin will win... The Dline will manhandle Ridges weak O line... And the Ridge defense is special by Cy-Fair standards meaning its a little less than average by everyone elses... So I see Lufkin winning this one

I like us being the underdog. We have enjoyed being favored in a lot of games over last several years. I believe the underdog roll will serve these guys better. It just seem like they are playing a litter harder to regain that swagger and respect that the program has lost over the last few years.
I just wanna take it one game at a time, and enjoy the ride. Anything can happen in the playoffs. Hopefully our guys come out and play hard and execute the game plan, and we will see if that is enough to get the W.

Just wanted to clear something up about Lufkin. They have had a darn good program for awhile now, they had plenty of swagger, as you said until Round Rock upset them in '06, finishing 11-1. In 2007 the team went 9-1 before losing to Klein Forest in the 1st round. This year they are 7-4, but have played a much tougher schedule against teams like Tyler Lee, Longview, North Shore, The Woodlands and John Tyler, all of them are still playing in the second round. So they are 27-7 since 2006 and we talk about the program getting back on it's feet and losing "swagger" because of early round exits the last two years. By Lufkin standards they haven't done as well, but are still good program. There are just a bunch of other great programs out there right now as well. Texas high School football is some of the most competitive in the country.
The Lufkin coaching staff has taken this program to a State Championship and 4 semifinals since 2001, they know how to coach in the playoffs.
Looking forward to Saturday, should be a good game.

????
Have you checked out the poll on the other thread? Last I looked, it was 65% in favor of Lufkin; so at least for posters here, you ain't the underdog.

In case you haven't noticed, the poll on this forum has many homer picks. Lufkin just happens to have more posters on here than Ridge it appears. A lot of the other votes are from people in the same district or people who used to be in our district. The forum admins and other media have Lufkin as the underdog. How could you not know that? Are you really following this upcoming game? If so you would have read more about it to know that Lufkin is considered the underdog everywhere else but in Lufkin.

According to the Houston Chronicle - Shepard, I mean Ridge, will win going away. Sounds like it won't even be close since Shepard will elevate his game to the size of the stadium.

Lufkin always has tricks up their sleeves, and it seems like they always catch their opponent on their heels at the right moment. Hell in '01, we started the game with a (double?) reverse that ended up back in Reggie's hands and went for a huge gain (thanks to a great catch by T.Parks). Also, the fake punt that pretty much sealed the game caught Westlake totally by surprise. First play of the year against Katy in '03 is another trick play that sticks out in my mind. You always have to watch out for Lufkin running a trick play..

Actually it was like a triple reverse!
The ball went from a hand-off to Holeman, to Watts, then back to McNeal, and finally a bomb back to a wide-open Holeman (IMO the fastest WR LP has had, that I've seen) for the TD.

I don't think it was a touchdown? It was a big gain to a leaping T.Parks on the first play of the game.

Are you talking about the first playoff game in 2001 against Dallas Carter or the state game against Westlake?

Sorry, but I had us losing to the woodz also, that was not to much of a reach, considering how we had been playing up to that point.
