A class 5-A playoff nugget that may only interest me...

Not sure if this is of interest to anyone or not...

But as I was combing through the various match-ups this weekend, I noticed a lot of familiar names.

That's not a surprise...

But 18 of the 64 Class 5-A teams left, just over 1/4th have won a state championship at one time or another.

Twelve are playing each other this Saturday:

Euless-Trinity vs. Plano
Garland vs. Tyler Lee
Lake Highlands vs. John Tyler
Cedar Hill vs. Southlake Carroll
Dickinson vs. Beaumont West Brook
Lewisville Hebron vs. Wylie


And others who have won at least one championship at any level include:

Lufkin
Galena Park North Shore
Houston Lamar
Austin Westlake
Katy
Odessa Permian
