I got a full bred Yorkee.
Best dog my entire family has ever had. House trained and always craps in the garden where no one can step on it.
His name is Isaac (IDK how my Aunt got the name)
We were joking about naming it pillow cuz it always slept on our pillows and whenever we were going to lay down he runs under your head and lays there so you can lay on him....
I think he is suicidal!

Why don't you let your kids name him?
My suggestion is Bentley. We have a English bulldog named Bentley

Why don't you let your kids name him?
File this under "Been there, done that."
The last time I let my kids name a pet, my oldest looked up at me with his 5-year old baby blues and innocently asked, "Is it a girl cat or a boy cat?" "Why, it's a girl, son. You should pick a girl's name."
"Okay," he said. "Girl."
I said, "Yes, she's a girl."
He said, "No, that's her name. Girl."
Girl, the Siamese is now 13 years old.
Remember, if you do decide to let the kids name the critter, you have to accept their choice. :)

I like the odd name for a dog. Naming a Yorkie Scottie, or a German Shepherd Otto, is just plain old uninaginative to me.
How about Bruno, Brutus, Biff, or Duke.
You could go Redneck with Cooter or Jimbo.
You could go Cajun with Fido, spelled PHIDEAUX. :D
I like to have someone ask me my dogs name and when I tell them, I get that surprised look.
My dogs, that I named, are Poo Poo, Cooter Belle, Twofer, Phideaux, and Heifer.
The dogs that my wife or kids named are Mimi, Gizmo, Roxy, Kilo, Blue, Sassy, and Stubby.
Now which set of names gets the most interest?

No, I'm actually taking him home with me after work today. We're getting him from some friends of ours and the only one that's seen him in person is the baby (she'll be two in Feb.). They had a blast with each other. It's a very friendly dog, loves children, and most importantly is house trained. I've been totally resistant to the idea for the longest time, but with my oldest seven, I've decided we'll use the dog as a tool to teach responsibility. They're good kids and deserve it. Besides, if it doesn't work out, I can always post a thread entitled "Take My Yorkie."
Thanks for everyones help. I'm sure we'll have a family meeting tonight when I get home and I'll bring all the name suggestions with me. I'll let you guys know what we pick.

Thats the one I was concerned about she always seems to wander off. I guess she will be ok as long as she doesn't try to eat the dog's food while the dog is.
But your kids are the right age where having a dog could be entertainment.

I didn't think about that. As you know, she eats everything.

I always thought the best part about a dog was that they sat under the supper table and kept the floor clean.
When I was about 12 or so I remember seeing a small child try to eat the dogfood at the same time as the dog, and from the same bowl, and they got a little nip.
I haven't heard anything about that kid in a while so I don't know how they turned out, but as long as you give her her own bowl of dog food she should turn out ok, it won't kill her.

Thank you all for your input. I've given all of the names to my family and the vote was for "Bentley." Thanks to Grlslvftball2 and the rest of you for your suggestions.:D
