okay, first off SLC is way overated by everybody. SEcond, there is only one team in the whole state of texas that can compete with them and that team is SMITHSON VALLEY. year in and year out they are always underated, but let me tell you i went to one of their practices last week and I can honestly say they have the players and the coaches to ACTUALLY win it all this year over SLC. Not only do they have the most talented wide recievers in the state of Texas in beyer and fuller, but all the other WR's could easily be studs except for one lol and I dont know his name but it was #38 who looked like a RB not a WR. They Also the have the best high school coach in texas with Larry Hill. It will be SLC vs. SV in the D2 title game, but I think it will be a nailbiter for SV these next two weeks.

you should probably change the title of this thread to "Why SV will beat SLC"

In response to the title's initial question? I imagine you'll receiver the same old answers being:

SLC
Lufkin
Katy
SV

then followed by Cove and maybe Plano.

Not to mention the other 12 teams SLC has beaten this season, as well as all those who have fallen in the 5A record of 60-1. I can now see why everyone would think SLC is over-rated. 3 consecutive State Championship appearances, 2 State Titles and 1 National Title. Yes - I see it now SLC are way over-rated. Katy must be the only rated team in the state of Texas - they are the only team to beat SLC.

SV will be playing in the title game, to good to lose to Katy, they have already beaten them once in the past 4 years.

Wow, you're right! Beating three playoff teams with a 30-3 record by a combined 145-36, really does qualify for overrated. Thank you for pointing out that this SLC team really doesn't deserve any hype or credit for a season where they have blown out every single opponent. But no! They almost lost to Grapevine! This SLC team must have a chink in its armor! They're going to come out unfocused and lose! They won't be expecting the heart and intensity of (next team)! They're one dimensional! They're finesse, soft! The run game is terrible! They only rushed for 350+ yards in 3 straight games when Tre Newton was in the whole game, and a measly 178 last night! McElroy hasn't had to come from behind yet! Where's his experience?! They haven't played anyone good yet! Their playoff road of Irving MacArthur, Allen, and then Abilene has nothing on the fearsome (Region 2, 3, or 4) bracket! They haven't seen a good team all year! Wait until (poster's team) gets a shot, they have a bullseye on SLC's chest, and SLC's never had that before!

Thank you, 5atexasfootball.com for your increasing silliness, expert analysis, and key predictions.

I,m a realist and as much as I love my "PACK" I don,t think anyone can match SLC this year. Just to many weapons on Offense and their defense is playing better than the other teams of 2004and 2002.In the past teams like us could score on them , but this year the D has stepped up for them.

You are so confident that SV will win over SLC, but the next two weeks prior to them meeting are going to be "nailbiters"?? Doesn't really make sence. You said it, they have the best WR's and the best Coach so if thats all it takes in your book - you should be "Golden" the next two weeks . . . shouldn't you?

Thanks, D08.

I think every one of the "Elite 8" left standing in D2 has a little something special in the tank, or they wouldn't be playing December football.

We're halfway to the finish line, and it'll be interesting to see how each of the teams left attacks the home stretch.

I think Southlake Carroll, Katy, Copperas Cove and Smithson Valley have been the most impressive of the eight teams left so far.

first things first slc is not overrated with a record like they have sure not overrated and also sv is a very good contender for beating slc but the truth is slc does not have wht they had last year and so a huge possiblity of them being beaton by another great team from reg 1 or 2 and in reg 3 and reg 4 sv and katy
are your contenders

I would disagree with them not having what they had last year, but for the most part you hit the nail on the head.
