View Full Version : The teams with the most appearances at Texas Stadium

Since everyone is predicting Plano's demise and with that the possiblity it will be the Wildcats last in a long successful history of Playing in Texas Stadium for over 35 years.

I was thinking Plano has played more games at TS than any other team in any classification except the Cowboys & maybe SMU.

Saturday's appearacne will be Plano's 48th time to play in that sacred place.. IMO will finish with a 50 appearance but that is for other threads to be discussed.

In recognition of their record appearance I give you Plano's Greatest Victories & Toughest defeats

Greatest
1. Plano vs HP 77 region 2 final 29-28 Miracle comeback back in the day when passing was a 4 letter word.

2. Plano vs PNG 77 4A state title game 13-10 Largest attended game of all time of 49,905. Please no TT's or SLC fans saying theirs were bigger, it wasn't) You can't count tickets for the 2nd game that came after)

3. Plano 28-LD Bell 21 State semifinals sending Plano back to the state titel game after a 9 year absence.

4. Plano vs Temple 78 area round 15-14. Cardiac Cat's pull the upset against #1 Temple in a shocker that propelled Plano to the title game that year.

5. Plano vs Trinity 93 semifinals- 10-0 (I believe). An Underdog Plano team that finished 3rd in district had mulitple goalline stands to keep Trinity out of the endzone all game.. Defensive battle galore. Prelude for things to come.

Worst games

Plano vs Tyler Lee 91 area round. Kimbroughs final game as HC Plano blows a 14-3 lead in the 2nd half after a apparent 50 yard TD run by RB Curtis Jackson was called back for holding. I believe it was 23-20 loss.

Plano vs HP 1980 region 2 final. 23-21. HP pulls their comeback after trailing 21-3 mid-way through the 3rd. Coach Kimbrough gets an unsportsmanlike 15 yard penalty. You knew the fix was in.

Plano vs Trinity 07. We know why.

Plano vs SLC 05 Tough loss especially being up 11 midway through the 3rd.

All Plano all the time!:p And to call TS a "sacred place" is in Sarah Palin's words, putting lipstick on a pig...But we are fortunate to have a large stadium, that is centrally located, to play the postseason games in.

You are no doubt correct that Plano has the most appearances of any high school at Texas Stadium in the playoffs. But spin it all you want, we are all well aware that the Trinity- Carroll game outdrew the Plano -PNG game by a few thousand at TS. If it makes you feel better to believe your version, then by all means feel free to do so.

This.

So many people showed up late because of HORRIBLE traffic, as well as poor planning by TS officials.

This is evident by the ET band showing up late...

The bands PLAN, factoring in traffic and time to get dressed etc, to be in stands roughly an hour before game time. Obviously TRAFFIC was THAT bad. They showed up when, late 1st q?

Even the Belles showed up late for Carroll too.

PWF= Fail.

Is no one counting the 1999 4A Stephenville/Port-Neches Grove championship? Over 55,000 in the Astrodome... guess what, that was for one game.

And for anyone to think people showed up to Texas Stadium that day not intending to see the Trinity/Carroll game, but just getting to their game early or being stuck after their game, is ridiculous.

Texas Stadium has only been arond 37. What's your point? Southlake does have the most appearances their in the 2000's. Had they not insisted playing at Pennington field so much in the 80's & 90's they could of Challenged Plano's record.

The overwhelming majority were at Texas Stadium for the Carroll-Trinity game, as you well know. But if this continues to be important to some of the Plano fans and if you believe the situations are not comparable, then the largest crowd ever to witness a Texas Stadium high school playoff game on a single game card belongs to Plano-PNG. The largest crowd ever to witness a high school playoff game at Texas Stadium on a multi-game program belongs to Carroll-Trinity.

I don't know how official this is, but here are some stats on game attendance that lend credence to Plano's claim. They may have come up earlier in this thread...

hm.

it appears I was mis-informed.

I thought legal age was 17 as long as its within 3 years of age i.e. 16-19, 17-20, etc...

I can see the economy crashing from Texas and it is only going to get worse with current democratic congress. You voted for change in '06 and here it is and now you voted for more change and here it comes. You asked for the political statement with your avatar.:D

I'm going to have to ask you to move these types of comments to the political sticky.

Thank you for your cooperation.

or pennington east or carrols stomping grounds for the last 6 years. Who has won the most since 2000. Im more than sure that wasnt plano and would guess SLC. who cares how many times you played there how many times have you won there ?

Plano has not only played their the most Plano was won the most games their as well I believe it stands at 35 wins. Even SLC & Trinity can't even sniff that.
