I'm going to call my shot now. After a lackluster performance that was aided by a punt block and 2 punt returns to score a TD and set up another, Alabama will not be #1 in the BCS standings when they come out. 'bama might still be #1 in the Harris and Coaches Polls, but they will lose points to Tech. 'bama will also be hurt in the computer ratings by playing Mississippi State.
Tech will be #1. There is almost as good of a chance Florida passes Texas for #3.

IMO, Bama should not be #1 even though they are unbeaten. I just don't think they are the best team in the country. I think Tech, OU, UF or UT would beat them.
Florida has a good chance of jumping Texas in the BCS polls. They have been very impressive, in fact, they might be the best team in the country. If they continue playing they way they have been, they will beat down Bama in the SEC title game and play for the NC.
I think it will be Florida vs. whoever survives in the Big 12 (OU, Tech, Texas) in the NC game.

I don't understand the lust for style points.
I also do not understand the writing off of the impressive road wins Bama has this season.
I think with the schedules they have played, Bama and Tech should share the #1 ranking. Texas should be #3 and OU should be #4.
The way people talk about the BCS has very little to do with what actually happens during the season and a lot more to do with what happened last week.
Very shallow, but so is our society...:D

Thank you.
OU deserves to be ranked #4 IMO
OU losing at a neutral site in a close game is overlooked but everyone just acts as if Florida just lost and nothing more.
They lost to an unranked team....AT HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very shallow, but so is our society...:DIn light of future events, I don't consider wins over Clemson in Atlanta, at Georgia, and at LSU to be impressive wins. They could've been impressive if they had won by more. I consider those wins and what Florida has done to be a pretty good indicator that the Gators are going to put a hurt on the Tide in a few weeks if they don't let down.
'bama just hasn't played as well as a #1 team should and that's been almost every game. The SEC is a lot weaker this year than normal. I'll use comparable matchups.
Texas Tech vs. Alabama- Tech
Texas vs. Florida- Tossup
Oklahoma vs. Georgia- OU
Oklahoma State vs. LSU- Okie Lite
Missouri vs. Ole Miss- Mizzou
Nebraska vs. South Carolina- Nebraska
Kansas vs. Vanderbilt- Vandy
Baylor vs. Kentucky- Baylor
Kansas State vs. Auburn- Auburn
Colorado vs. Arkansas- Arky
Texas A&M vs. Tennessee- Tennessee
Iowa State vs. Mississippi State- Mississippi State
Some SEC team is going to get murdered in the Cotton Bowl by the Big 12 South team that doesn't make a BCS bowl. The Holiday Bowl won't be much better and the Alamo Bowl will also be a mismatch.

Give it up.... Bama won and should remain #1 . You begging for them to be #1 should bump Tech down to 6 or 7, IMO. Just pitiful if you ask me. Be happy that for once in our lifetime Tech is actually relevant, and are ranked as high as they are at #2.

I agree.
i am not worried about being #1 until January.
If Tech wins out and does not play for the MNC, then it is a worthless trophy any way.
if Tech loses a game, then the really nasty discussion starts to include us. I don't want that to happen because Tech's success this season will be overlooked by talking heads that like the teams that are more traditional powers. The MNC is a season award, not an era award. If you are only looking at this season, a one loss tech team should be included in any National Title discussion. Their only flaw is losing the latest game in the season of the one loss teams. I know the Red Raiders know this and only our beloved team can stop us from getting bent over in the whole deal.
Tech just needs to take care of its business and let everyone else argue over 2nd and 3rd place.

I'm not begging for anything. I'm just saying what I think will happen. I said nothing in the post about my opinion.

Ask that to the AP and Coaches who voted that today.

Hey, Rockland.
I finally broke down and bought some gear. I've been meaning to buy some Lubbock High stuff for a while and I got a hat and t-shirt at the mall before the Okie Lite game last week!:D
For those wondering why I'd buy that stuff, besides the school being in Lubbock and me always feeling bad for them never making the playoffs since 1975, it's also the alma mater of Charles Hardin Holley, Class of 1955.
Maybe, I'll be good luck for the team. They sure need plenty of it!:D

Lubbock High is in one big and mean district. We may not make the playoffs again until we drop in classification.
Alas...I best not hijack this thread.
We'll see who the new No. #1 is but that would suck if Florida jumps over Texas or OU!

Yep, Alabama needs to put up 50 or 60 on everybody so they can be good like Texas Tech...
Somebody in for some major heartache..

'bama couldn't do it if they tried. I watched their game yesterday. They're not one of the top 5 teams even though they deserve to be ranked as such at 11-0.

The rankings should just show who is the BEST TEAM NOW, and imho that is Florida. Here's snowman's Super Not So BcS rankings for the top 5:
1. Florida
2. Texas
3. OU
4. Tech
5. USC
notice no 'bama in my rankings--thatd be because I don't see them as one of the best 5 teams in the nation. If all the undefeated teams should be ahead of the 1 loss teams then we've gotta throw Boise and Utah in there too along with Ball state and no one wants that. The best team playing RIGHT NOW is Florida.

KU might be around the 23rd best team. Because of their record, they don't deserve the rank, but they've lost to good teams.

My point was that for all the talk about how good other teams are playing, they're by and large not going on the road. Texas lost their only road game against a Top 10 team. OU has not played a great team besides Texas and they lost. Florida is playing great, but that's a lot easier when you don't have to play great teams on the road.

They didn't just lose, they were pounded. If they can't even be competitive against ranked teams that shows me they don't belong.
45-31 Oklahoma
63-21 Tech
35-7 Texas
They also lost to 6-4 South Florida and 7-4 Nebraska.

And my point is that a win over 6-5 Kansas on the road is all but meaningless now. Sure they were ranked THEN but so was Clemson at the beginning of the season and we all talk about how much that win is worthless for Alabama.
Out of Texas, Oklahoma, and Tech the only team that has gone on the road against a GOOD team is Texas... and they lost. Oklahoma and Texas played at a neutral site so it isn't exactly a home game but not exactly a road game either.
