Floridas win looks more impressive then Texas'?
"If 35-7 against Kansas on the road isn't a good enough win for someone, we'll just go wherever they tell us to go," said Texas coach Mack Brown.
The Red Raiders, Sooners and Longhorns (10-1, 6-1 Big 12) could wind up in a three-way tie for the South title, which might mean the tiebreaker would be BCS standings. Those, of course, could be influenced by "style" points, including things like how they did against common opponents.

I don't know if I would say it was more impressive since USC was on the road and literally handed Florida at least 21 easy points, but it was a damn good win for UF. It wouldn't surprise me if UF jumped to #3. They are already ahead of Texas in the Harris and Coaches polls, but Texas has a very big lead in the computer poll which may be enough to keep Floirda at bay.

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Note to the American Football Coaches Association Division I-A voting members:
When you open your sports section, check the Internet or watch Saturday's highlights, remember that fellow voter Mack Brown played it straight here on Saturday. He was a gentleman, coached the game the way it should be coached. The score says 35-7, Texas over Kansas. Maybe not overly impressive in stark agate of the Sunday paper, but it could have been worse. Much worse.
Considering the burden of fighting the Jayhawks on the road, a gusting 33-mph north wind, a 26-degree wind chill, snow flurries and your screwy poll, dear coaches, it was good enough.
Texas went into Saturday as the highest-ranked one-loss team -- third overall in the BCS. But with their only loss to No. 2 Texas Tech, the 'Horns find themselves in that dreaded landscape late in the season when they have to ask themselves, "How much is enough?"
In the end, Brown sat on 35 points after three quarters. Shut it down. Polls be damned, and the coaches' version should be considering it is the only one of the three BCS components that has Oklahoma (fourth in the coaches' poll) ahead of Texas (fifth), the team that beat the Sooners on Oct. 11.
Colt McCoy completed two passes in the fourth quarter -- throwing none that would be termed downfield. A bunch of mutts were in there on defense when they stopped Kansas during a late goal-line stand. All that was more of a message to the AFCA ethics committee than to the coaches who have failed in their duty to, well, pay attention.

I don't really care. Texas has played lightyears beyond what anybody expected this year and they are in the national title picture. They didn't take care of business in Lubbock so they are not in control of their own destiny, but I'm happy with this season so far and hope for a good bowl game matchup.

I think the more important question is if OU beats Tech, will THEY jump Texas? The Big XII South tiebreaker is BCS standings, and with a win over the #2 team in the nation, I think OU WOULD jump Texas. I don't think they should, and they won't in computer rankings because a computer doesn't take in WHEN the loss took place and humans do.
It will be interesting, I know that much.

Florida jumping Texas in the polls tomorrow is the least of their worries.
IMO, the only chance Texas will have to get into the NC game is if Tech beats OU and then loses in the Big XII Championship.
If OU wins, I will almost guarantee the voters will put OU ahead of Texas for a late season win against the #2 BCS team, and they will easily beat Mizzou in the Big XII championship, leaving Texas outside of the picture.

Some good news for Texas... Texas jumped Mobilhoma and closed the gap on UF in the coaches poll. The computers also look favorable. Sagarin (can't remember if they are a part of the BCS formula or not) has Texas ranked #1 and ELO Chess has the Horns #3 with UF at #5 and Mobilhoma at #6.

I really don't have any. I truly love this run that Tech is having, but I hate this BCS bullsh:Censor::Censor:!
Style points? Wonder why coaches run up the score on a totally inferior team?
I said it before and I'll say it again...I will never fully embrace college football until they have some type of playoff. Whether it is an 8 team or 12 team playoff. Hell, I'll settle for the plus+1 setup because it looks like it might be needed this year.
No way that USC should leap over ANY Big XII contender. Glad that Penn State lost...well, no. I take that back. What if Penn State would have stayed undefeated and Tech would remain undefeated. Tech had already passed Penn State in the BCS. I'm just saying...the Big 10 would be behind a playoff system then.
Maybe...

I'd rather have Tech beat OU and then lose to Oklahoma State the next weekend.

if there is a three way tie, the team with the highest bcs ranking gets the nod.
if there's a two way tie, tceh gets the nod.....
you REALLY want mobilhoma to win out the rest of the year.

I know I don't want OU to win anymore games. Still, they can lose to Okie Lite by 100 points for all I care, as long as they lose to Tech. :D.

OU will probably be ahead of Texas in the BCS if they win out and there is no guarantee Tech won't if they pound Baylor.

Texas is still #4 in the new Harris poll and widened it's lead over Mobilhoma.
Floridas win looks more impressive then Texas'?
It doesnt freakin matter if Florida passes Texas in the BCS... as long as we are at #2, they can have #1... Who cares...

I guess it wasn't more impressive. Texas is still #3 in the new BCS maintaining it's lead over UF and widening the lead over Mobilhoma. Future schedules to not work in Texas' favor though. UF has Free Shoes U. and Bama while the dirt burglars have Tech and Okie Lite.

Big XII championship would be great but I would much rather play in the BCS Championship.
Tech loses the second to last game of the season they are virtually out. Unfair? Yes, but the pollsters will drop them way too far to recuperate even with their high BCS numbers. That will leave Florida/Alabama, Texas, and Oklahoma. Oklahoma loses the last game of the season they are out. Just leaves Texas and the SEC champion.
Either way I like our chances of NOT being passed by Florida.
Tech wins out it will come down to Florida and Texas. I like our resume against theirs.

Tech fans,
Let's get a head start on next week!
How can Baylor and Mizzou beat Tech and it help Texas?:D
I'm not saying OU can't beat Tech because they're definitely good enough to do so, but I think it's foolish to automatically assume OU will beat a team that beat Texas, who beat OU by 10.

I think Tech will get a big head and this is the game where they start to fall apart. my .02

If Tech can go into OU and win, then they just flat out deserve to play for the National title. Florida will beat Alabama in the SEC title game. And if the Gators crush them like I am thinking they will, then they deserve a shot at the title as well. Texas and Florida could play for the marbles of Tech and Bama both go down. I don't see the how OU could leap frog Texas based on a potential home win over Tech when Texas played them in Lubbock. We all know the system is a fraud as designed, and that would only serve further confirmation (OU potentially jumping Texas).

OU beats Tech and Okie St. They will jump ahead of Texas in the BCS and play for the Big-12 South.
What's hurting Texas is a win against Tx A&M gives them nothing late in the season.
My question is this.. Texas Tech beat OU and then loses to Mizzou in the Big-12 Title Game.
Can this push a #3 Texas (BCS Poll) into the Nat'l Title game ?? I think this is the best hope for Texas to play in the National Title game IMO.

The argument for this is that OU won't jump Texas because of the head to head. Supposedly the human voters will vote Texas before OU because of that 10pt loss at a neutral site...and supposedly a win over Tech at Norman doesn't trump a Texas loss at Tech.
who knows....
The chips will fall where they will fall...im hoping for a BCS bid...NC, Sugar, or Fiesta.

Texas is pretty much a lock for a BCS Bowl. The only thing that could honestly take a BCS Bowl away from Texas is them (Texas) playing in the Big-12 Title game and losing to Mizzou. (ie. Mizzou last year ) coming into the Big-12 Title game #1 in the BCS and losing to OU and then getting a Cotton Bowl bid.
I guess the whole question is will OU bumb ahead of Texas if they (OU) beat Tech and Okie St ? It's going to be close.
If OU beats Tech but its a close game then it probably saves Texas some style points.
If Texas Tech beats OU and Mizzou then they totally deserve the Nat'l Title game and I honestly think with their offense they can beat either Fla or Ala.
These last few weeks are going to be totally crazy.

I highly disagree with that statement. If they were to get a "big head" it would have shown a long time ago...most recently, it would have been against OSU at home 2 weeks ago.
I don't care who you are, nobody goes into Norman with a head too big for their helmets. They will confindent of their ability to compete with OU, but they won't lose the game because of overconfidence.

Yes, Texas can play for a title against Tech. It all comes down to 'bama losing a game and Florida not getting much of a lead vs. UT in the polls.

Well this feels strange to say because this conference is always dangerous but the SEC is kinda weak this year. So Florida couldnt afford to lose a game to Ole Miss. Texas has played Oklahoma, oklahoma state, MIZZOU and texas tech all who were ranked top 10. Florida is blowing out Teams who were giving big rankings early then began to struggle like Georgia, who is playing trashy, and south carolina who was ranked 25th lol. Tulsa is ranked 24th and they got dusted by unranked U of H. Its not how much you win by, but the quality of the team you won against and Florida unluckily has played .......nobody hot and Texas has. They maybe evenly matched but because of schedule strength Texas is still in the Bid for the National Championship.
