Maybe someone will take advantage of the deepest talent pool in Texas then.

Yeah, because Outlaw has just underachieved...

As a Southlake fan, you should know that much more goes into winning championships than pure talent. Many things have to merge together. Some of the better coaches can go an entire career without winning a championship at any level.

I believe Outlaw is the winningest coach in the history of the LP program, but I could be wrong on that.

how young is coach outlaw? he's been at the helm all around the sw for quite a while. coaching is taxing and it wouldn't surprise me to hear that he'd hang'em up. this could be what the pack needs to drive thru the po's.

Wow? Sakatha obviously knows nothing about Coach Outlaw's record and his state championships?? She obviously does not know what the Lufkin program was like right before he arrived here either? Outlaw is responsible for turning Lufkin into a average to good program to a top notch program that routinely goes deep in the playoffs every year. He is great at building programs and he has proven it over and over. He also brought Lufkin their first state championship. We could not ask for a better coach trust us sakatha.

Well........now we have a taco and a dancer spreading rumors........and the dancer is a mythical soothsayer who can project three years in to the future based on what "Everyone at school" says.......sheesh!! Taco, can you take Dancer out to Ray's for a taco salad and squelch these unfounded rumors?!......and don't be startin' any more!!

Did Outlaw tell you?......if not it's a rumor, and they have no place on this board.

Actually, my cousin who had coach Outlaws wife as a teacher, said that she told them they he might be retiring after 07. Dang, why get so offensive about the whole thing. It's just rumors, don't take it personal! GEESH!!!

Exactly.......we went through this on the board before. If you know something for a fact bring it to the board. If you want to spread rumors keep it to yourself. I know you and taco think you are doing a good deed by breaking some news, but it has no fact basis.

First, John Outlaw is 52 years old. As far as retirement, I guess that is up to him and his wife. My feeling is that as long as Roy Knight is the Superintendent of schools in Lufkin, Outlaw will remain HC and Athletic Director at Lufkin. He could coach 10 more years at Lufkin as far as I am concerned. By the way, rumors just like this have floated around ever since Outlaw won the State championship in 2001. Of course they have never been true.

Coaching has to be one of the most taxing jobs around, i recently saw on the news that a number of coaches either retired or were having heart problems from all the pressure that comes with coaching, i would probably go into cardiac arrest after two losing seasons.

You are absolutely correct about *most* of that.

I went back and looked at the D1 prospects in the past 10 years of HS football here in TX according to Rivals.

Lufkin is #1 in D1 production. I guess I am saying that 1 state title isn't enough. :( This year in Southlake, we have produced more D1 prospects than any other singular year in our history. That being said, almost all are still 'small' D1 schools. No powerhouses. No UT, Miami, USC, LSU commits(or any other top 15 programs).

Lufkin, year in and year out, produces several MAJOR D1 recruits along with a slew of roll players that are stars elsewhere.

Dodge might not be a fair comparison, but witnessing the 2 contests over the past 3 years, Outlaw was ridiculously outcoached.......

Dang pack97 you are wrong!! :) Hey pantherpridedancer, i happen to be married to a former lieutenant who is good friends with your new instructor who was also a lieutenant on that same drill team. They graduated together. My wife came up 2nd to Lufkin's previous instructor after applying several years ago. She did not apply this time because we have too many dang kids. ;) I am sure you know my niece? She is a varsity cheerleader at Lufkin about your age. Anyways, pack97 was just messing with you and yall do a very good job right pack97?? I will have to tell my wife that a drill team member is posting with the guy's about football. That is cool! My wife does not have a clue about football and i have given up trying to teach her. She has no interest.
