This is the RB whose video was posted on an earlier thread. His freshman and sophomore footage are just sick. I have put that in front of many major college recruiters and told them before I hit play it would be the best they had seen. As they watched the footage all they could do was shake their heads. This kid has a bench in the 350 range and a power clean of 300. Unbelievable skill. Some bring up track times which is ridiculous. This kid probably runs faster with a set of pads on and with a football in his hands than what he runs on a track. His quickness out of his cuts is immediate and he hits full speed instantly.
I would love to see him under Deion's care, even if it means him moving away from Florida.

WTF!?!?!?!?!??! thats kinda both, good and bad, if Devine moves to Texas, he will likely move to Dallas, if he moves to Dallas, Sanders will LIKELY send him to the best school in the Dallas FW area.......and who are they?????? thats right, the SouthLakeCarrol Dragons.... so i guess its good news for SLC and bad news for EVERYONE ELSE IN Div II 5A.....WOW!!! i cant wait to see how this transpires...

i realize that track times are ridiculous.....but they are necessary when comparing ppeed, dont get me wrong...i think Devine is a BEAST, track times or not

Here is why track times in my opinion are of little importance.
Very rarely does a football player ever run a straight line 40 yard dash. Whether it is a WR being jammed off the line, or having to run 40 yards in the form of a patter. Or whether it is a RB waiting for a hole to open to hit a burst for 8 yards before having to break a tackle or make a move. Or a LB having to pursue a ball carrier through traffic. Very seldom does a straight line present itself and it is at this time, being able to accelerate out of a cut or off a bump or through a tackle is of much more importance. How fast does this "transition" take place.
Here is Noel's Sophomore video:
http://sunshinepreps.net/clips/Noel%20Devine.wmv
Take a look at the second play for example. Noel covers 20 yards before he gets on a "straight line". While his game speed is incredible, it is his quickness and acceleration out of his cuts that is most lethal. It is during this first 10 yards or so that straight line speeds means very little. It is also in this first 10 yards that make or break a long run.
I am not trying to diminish the importance of speed, just want to emphasize game speed is much more important that track speed. The ability to use your speed at maximum potential. I see plenty of fast kids who need to up their game speed in a big way.

I wonder where Deon's house is in Dallas. I would imagine Southlake.

That would be amazing!!
I'd love to have him in Texas.
Is Southlake the only viable option as to where Deion's house is in the area??
Any other crazy rich areas??

Deion has a very large home (at least he did a couple of years ago) just off of 289 between Prosper and Celina. You cant miss it. It's like a 50,000 sq. ft. house just off to the right a couple of minutes South of Celina. I think it falls in the Celina ISD.
Just a guess on my part, but I would imagine that if Deion does in fact bring this kid to Texas, you will probably see him enrolled a Dallas Jesuit.

Dieon was talking about Sat's so I guess he wants a nice school district.

yeah, possibly Dallas Jesuit, its not the best school to play football for, but they do usually have some bigtime athletes.....i would imagine the kid would wanna play for the best though so in that case, it would be the Dragons.

But how would he pull that off???

06-04-2005, 04:18 PM
cmon, its Deion!!!! its done all the time, kids play where they want all the time, all you need to do is give an adress or Deion could help out as SLC and he's in......you see this type of thing all the time at higher profile schools..

I think a school like Jesuit would appeal to Deion. A Christian school that is going to give the kid all the academic tools he needs to succeed while at the same time allowing him to compete at the highest level in the state.
Another possibility would be Celina HS. It's a small school with a good football history. Being small and further removed from the city would keep Mr. Devine away from the "negative things" Deion is trying to remove him from. Just a thought.
The only way Devine plays for SLC is if Deion buys a home there. From what I understand, the only home he owns in the Dallas area is the home in Collin County.

Deon home was on the edge of Garland that last time I saw his home and it was a dang castle. Maybe he has moved " I dont know." Its been a few years since I was there. Sander and Aikman has homes about one block from each other. Tom Cruise has a home about 2 blocks away also.
Speed ??? alot of RB's need more than just "Speed" to become a great back. They need , " vision & balance." I also think with most good backs the 40 times is a waste of time. The start up and 20 yard speed is more a factor. I call it explosive speed.
That's what RB's like Benson and Emmitt Smith have. "Vision, balance, some power and explosive speed.
40 yard speed is a good indicator to judge all the kids you want to put on the punt and kickoff team.

Hey now, don't take shots at Florida. :) Lance Leggett faired pretty well a few years back when he went out there dind't he?
Seriously, there is little difference than football played in Florida Texas and California in terms of talent. While Texas definitely has bragging rights on the passion the fans bring, a kid in Florida getting it done can get it done anywhere, and same goes for getting it done in Texas.

Ya, I agree some with you. I'm from Texas but live in Miami now. I've been to alot of games here in Miami to see teams like Carol City and ect. They have just as much talent as many of the powerhouse Texas 5A's and some Texas 4A schools. The fan support is "pathetic" to say the least however. Going to some games is like going to a "wake."
But, the only major difference I personally see between the two States. I believe that the Texas teams are "ALOT" better coached in teaching the kids techniques and team chemistry. In Florida it looks like alot of kids survive on just being a better athlete than the kid across from them and 95% of the time they win.
The best team I've seen here in Florida is Jacksonville Bolles. They are a very solid team and well coached in all areas and have solid talent.
PS. Clarence Ward was a 4A Texas All-State football player his junior year at Lamarque. Then he went to Pensacola High his senior year and was All-State in florida and had a nice game in the Cal/Florida game.

oh, no dont get me wrong, Florida has some great athletes, but what is Texas known for????? aside from our Bar B Q, we are known for some GREAT HS Football.....im sure there isnt much difference, but we hold our football on a much higher scale....hence the movie "Friday Night Lights"

I think tackling is an issue in Florida. Maybe the Defenses aren't as good, or the talent to choose from. A 5A school, if he goes to one, will truly tell him just how good he is.

Ya, they are a private school that pretty much dominates the Florida division they play in most years. They have good talent ( usually 4 or so kids go major D-1A every year) and they have very solid coaching to go with it. Plus, you can tell the kids are the type that learn the "first time" and you dont have to tell them the same thing over and over.
From what I saw last year. They were the #1 team in Florida. No matter what any so called mythical National poll says.

or he could buy a house and go to SLC....i dont think SLC is really hurting for a RB since they do got Tre Newton..but you knwo how it is, most schools would love to have one of the top RBs in the nation fall into their laps...

KT, if Devine transfers to Texas you may need to move someone up in your Top 25 , unless he goes to Southlake. What a stroke of luck for SLC if that were to happen, Luna graduates and what do you know a Devine miracle shows up to take his place. You know their thinking about it and I bet they will have a couple of casual conversations with Deion to see if they can help the boy out and give him a good school home as well.

Almost every other state in the union is dominated by private schools.
There is only two Texas Private schools in the (UIL): Dallas Jesuit and Houston Strake Jesuit and they have only been UIL members for a year now. It was a major issue with the Texas Coaches Assoc to allow these two Texas Private schools to join the UIL because of possible recruiting issues and ect.
I think the jury is still out about it all but it looks like they are here to stay. There may even be a few more Texas Private schools become UIL members before long.

I don't know about that, Section8Sheriff ;) . I think that the majority of the state champs in America are public schools.
Many of the states that aren't as known for their football (South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, for example) are dominated by public schools, as are many of the football-savvy states such as Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, etc.

Well...
Pennsylvania, Ohio, NJ, NY are all dominated by catholics. Mass.' best team is Catholic.
Your state is dominated by catholics.
Florida is now too.
DC catholic.
California has Mater Dei, De La Salle. Kentucky...St Xavier
This is all off the top of my head.

I think the fact alone that he is going to be going to Prosper shows that Deion is really doing this for the kids sake and not his football sake. There may be more scouts in Prosper for the games now than fans. I wish the best for this kid and Deion as they start a new adventure in life together. One question though...How is Deion going to spend much time with this kid since he just signed another contract with the Ravens?
jtk1519

Devine doesnt have to worry about being recruited or scouted because most of the scouts have already seen him. He isnt your typical "unknown" kid coming from a small 2A school.
