Driving down with all of the rush hour traffic from Denton County will take you at least 1 hour.

Dallas is no different than Houston - no wonder they have distaste for each other - sounds like a good 2 hour commute to me much less the time to park.

I-35E coming into Dallas, especially at LBJ is a :Censor:. 75 is no better. It took me almost an hour to get from the Turnpike to downtown via 75 and that was about 9:00 this morning.

Central Expressway is far worse than 35.. I travel Central every morning, I use the HOV though...

I got stuck on LBJ the other morning because traffic on 35 was backed up so bad. Took me damn near two hours to get from North Dallas to Las Colinas. As bad as 75 and 35 are, I think LBJ is worse.

635 is the king of misery in the DF DUB...west in the am... east in the pm.. And the problems with the 35 split when your on 635 is that the idiots in the far left lane want to head north on 35 and the idiots in the far right lane want to head south on 35... then you have everyone else trying to stay westbound on 635.. That area is a horrible spot... I work right of Marsh Lane in Farmers Branch, and every morning the FB Fire dept and ambulances go flying by headed for that area between Hillcrest and 35..

HOV lanes = win.

HOV lanes = win until some idiot in a minivan slams into the barrier because he is too stupid to know what an HOV lane is. 635 can EABOD. Fortunately, I don't have to get out much during rush hour.

Dallas sucks for driving. I listen to no complaints about Austin traffic from anyone who lives in the Dallas area.

That is all.

I've seen both at their worst and Austin is worse by a mile. I remember navigating 75 during the High 5 construction and that was a joy compared to some of the crap I have sat through on 35 in Austin. Austin's lack of a serious East/West thoroughfare makes it worse as well.

I've sat for outrageous amounts of time trying to get to Denton from 35E from Austin. I've learned to take 35W now but the traffic sometimes gets petty awful in Fort Worth as well.

This thread is exactly why I keep saying I want no part of living in the 4 largest metro areas (DFW, Houston, SA, and Austin). The other 10-11 million people in Texas thank you for living there!:D

That's what I love about my situation. In the AM, i am going north to Conroe/ Huntsville cruising past the suckers going 5-10mph into Houston. In the evening, I'm going the speed limit driving home while watching the north bound traffic look like a parking lot.

Friday afternoon if I leave the office after 3PM, I can just plan on traffic being backed up with folks from out of town headed into Houston. We just plan around it. There are certain roads at certain times, you just know you shouldn't be there or you're gonna be sitting there for a while.

Austin traffic is much worse than Dallas, imo and Dallas is pretty bad.

Not as many alternative choices of ways to go in Austin. Less major roads stacks up to more misery.
