I was just wondering why it's written that Smithson Valley and Judson have no true tests until later in the season. I mean don't they play Pflugerville in their preseason schedule and is Pflugerville not in the top 25? Also didn't Pflugerville overtake Smithson Valley in the preseason last year with a dominating rushing attack? Don't get me wrong Smithson Valley and Judson are very strong teams, but I don't agree with Pflugerville being overlooked by these teams especially with ther perenially explosive rushing attack and a new offensive scheme in the mix. I still believe they will be a test for Smithson Valley and Judson

I don't think anyone is over looking Pfluggerville. The problem you guys have is that you are in Region 2 and not Region 4. Your talking about non-district games with Smithson Valley and Judson. Playoffs are different and I think that Pflugerville would have a better chance to reach a regional or semi-final playoff game in Region 4. You and all the Austin schools should be over in Region 4 anyway and more of the northern Houston area schools moved into Region 2, it just makes sense.

Part of it may be that P-ville was ranked number two in the state last year before the season started but didn't live up to that ranking. I don't think the SV loss to P-ville last season has any bearing on the outcome of this year's game. SV was ranked twenty-fifth in the state and had a very young team on thier hands. This year they are ranked third and have a very experienced team with a whole lot of talent. If you think you're being overlooked you'll have a chance to earn some respect next year with that schedule of yours.

I agree with Packattack, the way you all will gain the respect you think you deserve is to make some long runs in the playoffs. Stop being cannon-fodder for the Region 2 powerhouse's eg. Lufkin, Longview etc. and last more than 2 rounds, then people will notice and respect you.......... :) :)

The problem with that theory is that Leander and Pflugerville can end their season in the second round every year and still be one of the best 5 teams in the state.
SV and Judson no matter how good they are will always be somewhere around the semifinals and it makes them look better than they possibly are.
When you got a team from Region II who has to roll through tough opponent after tough opponent starting in the first round, and these guys don't have to face anyone good until the semis, well...3 easy games and then a tough game makes that tough game much easier in my opinion.
We've had this debate in NY for years about toughness of sections(districts to u guys) based on state playoff finishes.

While I can agree that this could happen in any one year, I would very much disagree that a team could be eliminated in the 2nd round of a 64 team playoff year after year and still be considered a top 5 team in each of those years............ :)

The relative strength of the districts and the regions is an ongoing argument every year in TX also......I would agree with you that Region II in most years is a harder road to the finals than Region IV....... :) :)

Most years, yes it is the toughest road. But last year, Southlake Carroll's road to the championship was by far the toughest ive ever seen. I'm not quite sure of the order, but Allen, DR, Abilene (thought this was the game yall would lose last year), Lufkin, and Smithson Valley (i may be missing one, but you get the point). That road gave me all the respect in the world for this team.

Thanks LL.......Our first playoff game last year was against Irving with Jamal Evans, but the rest you mentioned are right. Nobody could accuse the Dragons of backing into a championship last year...... :) :)
