31-0 before the half, Abilene Cooper would be more competitive at this point!

it sucks that its already a blowout, looks like we'll have to wait another week until we see if anyone can knock SLC off

Plano/Midland won't stand any more of a chance than the past 3 teams have. To tell you the truth the best team that the Dragons have played so far is I-Mac, and they were a great football team that probably would have beaten Abliene and Plano.

Well your talking about an I mac team that barely beat a SGP team who beat ET and Plano beat SGP. So you can make a case for the SLC vs. PLANO/midland game if Plano makes it there.

I think it will be more of a game if plano wins and plays SLC. Midland doesn't stand a chance against SLC but they can beat Plano though.

I guess some of the weeks topics can be put to rest..the weather would'nt have mattered..Tre Newton left footprints all over the AHS D. The question of who is the better QB has been answered....And the Dragon Defense made a serious statement...To the great fans of Abilene, who outnumbered the Dragon faithful..hope you appreciated the show..good luck next year!

Alright so I said that Greg McElroy would be the best QB in the state of Texas in like June or something like that. Every single person on this board said I was crazy and hated on me. My comments have been answered for the whole state of texas tonight. The king has rissen.

it is amazing how with all this pressure he has, and yet it seems theres nothing there, hes just going out and playing football with the ability he has and it shows hes one of the best

How many dropped balls (td's too) did we have tonight? And what a joke call that was on Renfro for Pass interference. Refs hate us more than the other posters do. When you are on top, everyone wants a shot, even the refs.
I felt they were trying to keep it closer than it was. No call went our way, every spot was against us.
Can't believe I am whining after a 52-0 romp, but I just get sick of us having to play the refs every week too. Sorry, it just gets old week after week.

hmm one dropped td smiter i belive it was, he HAD that and just dropped it, there was another one where fentriss? i think it was he got one foot in called incomlete, i have always wondered in HS is it one foot or 2?? and that renfro thing, from where i was sitting renfro did push off of him it appeared, the man in coverage did push off renfro first then renfro pushed him back, i was on about oh say the 20 yard line roughly, so it was a pretty clear view, you couldnt see it in the replay..
that reminds me, thats gotta suck for the refs, when they make a wrong call and then they replay it and show it as being wrong, you can jsut tell they didnt want to look at the screen at all!
also abilinie folk, just curious, what was the dragon logo for, i saw it sitting on your bench before the starts of the game, curious what you did with it during the game

1 foot in HS, that was clearly a TD. I saw the contact also with Renfro, but he was slowing down for the underthrown ball, and like you said, the defender was bumping into him with his head down. That's when Clint push off. He was making space to cathc the ball since the defender was already running into him.
AHs fans are just getting home about now. Long drive I'm sure.

so that means the band probally wont get home for at least another 45min...thats what sucks about being in band, you get there early, you have to wear a uniform that makes you sweat like crazy, and your one of hte last ones to leave, thne oyu have to go the school then leave from there

I was on the field and Renfro clearly pushed the db, was definately the right call execpt the ref blew it dead, that was the wrong part. Fentris catch was definately a td, did anyon see Michael Irvin on the SLC side, he's freaking huge in person, nice guy though.

I was on AHS's sidelines tonight...
I'll give SLC something...They are fast...extremely fast. The whole team!
I'm not saying this as an excuse at all, but overall the officiating was bad. There were several plays the whole night that the officials blew the calls.
AHS's first kick off return, the ground forced the fumble...and then...
SLC's pass attempt to the back of the endzone should have been a TD...but they called it out...
Bad officiating...I pray the officials are betting for y'all throughout the rest of the season.
Good Job SLC, Go win state!

What about Mackay Jacobson’s disallowed touchdown. I could see it was touchdown from 30 yards away, even Mrs Toonman said it was a touchdown, the reply showed it was a touchdown, but the official who 5 feet way could not see that the ball was caught with one foot still in the endzone.
That was 2 touchdowns called back - it should have been 45 at the half.

the early td mis-called was fentress' in the back of the endzone. mckay's miscalled, disallowed td was on the reverse. he clearly stayed in bounds at the 2, where the blind/crooked mice spotted it, and got the ball well inside the pylon while he went by.i think we scored later on in both situations, but a team shouldn't have to remake great plays just because the officials were inept, or worse.
the clock control was a little fishy too, but i guess that's to be expected. late in the half, after adding in an extra 2 seconds that were completely wrong, potts stood in the pocket for several seconds before throwing a pass in the flats , and only 4 seconds ran off the clock. turned out all these made up, erroneous calls were for naught, but one day having to overcome biased officiating as well as an excellent team will be our undoing. afterwards the refs can get together and quote the old commercial, "and i helped".

I am getting so sick of having to beat the officials every week also. When are they going to call an honest game? I know it sounds rediculous to complain about refs in a 52-0 rout, but one of these days, it will change a game. It's just not right - these kids work too hard to have to beat the refs too.
Even with the knowledge that their bad calls were going to be on "the big screen" these guys still blew it repeatedly. either they just didn't care, or they were just that bad.

I was laughing at some of the calls. What was up when Abilene lined up in a funky formation, I'm not sure if it was a swinging gate, but anyway they never ran a play out of the formation, somehow T. Potts got to converse with his coach, and they were not charged a TO. I was flashing back to the SLC/Plano East game. It seemed like Abilene had 6 timeouts for that first half. I thought there was a pretty bush league play when C. Renfro got behind an Abilene db and it looked like he was going out of bounds and the Abilene db gave CR a pretty hard push out of bounds.

They're human and can sometimes have a bad game. With that being said, you have to take them out of the equation as you guys definitely did last night. Great job! I'm not excusing them for making bad calls, but different crews call games in certain ways. They're looking for certain things like advantage-disadvantage. In little league, I tell my players to concentrate on their own play and not focus on the refs. So you just have to stay focused and do what you know to do.

he was 2-3 steps out of bounds. no harm, no foul i guess. poor cb for ahs got run by more than cheap panty hose in an old maids cat factory.

no kidding their fans were def awesome. They were incredibly loud, chanted together, and generally seemed much more into it than we were. however i thought it was funny when they were losing 31-0 and some of their fans displayed a CARROLL sign towards our stand and then ripped it to shreds. lol maybe in the future do that before you're down 31 points. maybe they intended to burn the dragon logo thing you're referring to but realized it would be silly? i was again amazed at how many fans they brought. also 2nd worst officiating i have ever seen and thank goodness it didn't affect the outcome of the game.

i would have loved to hear the conversation between head stripey and dodge about the "interference" call, the inadvertant whistle(after which he was obligated to call it on renfro) and the explanation initially of how the play had to be returned to the los and repeated("oh yeah, never mind, i meant to mention the penalty would be assessed too-sorry"). and what's up with getting a free time out because you don't know how to get into the stupid swinging gate formation? seems that should have been practiced before the game, not during. luckily, the refs didn't mind letting ahs have a do over, when the hc called kings - x.

i only saw one cheap shot. on tre's long td, renfro got cracked on about 20yds behind the play, of course it was about the only time the ahs defender got close enough to him to hit him, and when clint retaliated wrongly, they both were flagged.

Concerning the swinging gate play, the announcers said the play clock never started so the refs had to stop play. That was part of the problem on that play.

well, if they were trying to run out the clock, then not having a playclock isn't really a bad thing. i looked and it showed 25 seconds. was the play designed with the playclock somehow involved? after having a chance to reconsider, i noticed the vacant lot swinging gate was ditched. the biggest concern i had with it was that our cb's got crossed up, leaving the wrong one one in a one on one situation with the eagle best receiver, with no safety help.

Keep in mind I was listening to an Abilene broadcast. The announcers said the play clock never started, so the refs stopped play. Coach Warren of Abilene then threw a fit with the refs because he was trying to catch SLC off guard, and stopping play gave SLC an opportunity to adjust/make substitutions, whatever. So it ruined the surprise element of the play, so Abilene decided to scrap the play and run something else.

that actually makes the most sense of any other explanation. in my mind, any reason to not run a swinging gate play is a good one. as it it turned out maybe they should have gone to the swinging gate as their basic offense.
