Although Diggs ultimately picks Hebron to win, out of respect for Bell he is making sure to cover his bases - here's an excerpt from his Bell/Hebron pick:

Hurst L.D. Bell (7-3) vs. Hebron (7-3), Saturday, Texas Stadium, 1pm -- This game doesn't seem as cut and dry as one might think. LD Bell is a much better team than the record has shown. They are really a team that just hasn't put it together for 48 minutes. If they can put it together, I think they can take Hebron four quarters, and if a break or two goes their way - they will win this game.

Good to see Bell getting some well-deserved recognition. Matt Diggs though.....he kind of makes me want to beat my head against a wall most of the time.

We will be there with our black and red on, but we will be supporting the blue raiders all the way. My son went to Bedford Heights with several of the boys, so I will be yelling like my crazy mom self!! Go Cameron :D

Texasprepinsider.com (now at scout.com) released their #21 - #65 rankings for teams in the DFW area.

Matt Diggs, their DFW head writer sees 5-5A this way:

26. Fossil Ridge
30. Grapevine
33. Colleyville Heritage
36. Bell
39. Northwest
41. Central
46. Keller

You can see the whole list at http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=378&f=3518&t=2567805

I'm surprised GV is ranked that high.

As for CVH, Irving Mac is 32 and PESH is 28. Looks like the Panthers have to upset some people to enter the FR game at 3-0.
Maybe his post season picks are better than his pre-season picks.:)

Fossil Ridge had a brutal schedule but Grapevine and PESH were just terrible.

After seeing Bell against Colleyville Heritage I would agree if they can put together 4 good quarters they have a chance.

You gotta keep the Hebron QB in the pocket and make him become a pocket passer. The RB is quick and shifty.....Hebron runs a lot of screens and quick stuff to the outside. The QB has been making plays outside of the pocket lately....

First off who ever said Matt Diggs is great is an out right liar. Seocnd if he says Bell is better then record shows then why does he pick Hebron to win? What an idiot.

Great would not be a term I would use. The bozo had Trinity ranked 9th last year...................in the area.

If you can keep Hebron's QB in the pocket, you will be the first team all year to do it.

He runs linebackers down and puts track marks on their backs.

Let's not turn this into a personal attack thread, Diggs included.

We don't roll like that over here.

When you're making predictions on hundreds of teams, you're bound to have a few misses.

I know you weren't asking me, but I see about 25 to 30 games a year. I think that is beside the point though. Diggs has got his gig over at Scout and that's great. I think it reflects poorly on folks when they want to trash him here for his picks. Just like I think it reflects poorly on Diggs/folks on Scout to Trash the KTs for their DFW analysis here.

They both do what they do and their end result is a product of Much much effort. It is obviously harder for the KTs to be small fish in a big pond vs Diggs being a "Big Fish" in a small pond. Diggs record for DFW Metromess should be much better than KTs. I don't know that it is?

Cheers, :)

You can't count the Plano East stuff against him though. Every analyst has some Homer in him and Diggs is about as "BIG" of an East East homer as there is.

Hope springs eternal!! :D

Diggs' is about 80% picking on the year... and that's picking over 1000 games. That's better than everyone on the DMN. I'm not saying that he's God... although I do call him that frequently. I wasn't speaking of you dog, I know there are several people that see games frequently. Personally, after Saturday I will have seen 40 different teams live this year. And that doesn't count TV games, and I have seen 5-6 on TV this year.

It just irks me when someone publicly calls someone out when it's a second job and that person puts at least 60+ hours of work into his articles. I appreciate the work that the KT's of the world do and I will never call them out publicly. On occasion, I have said something about picking Wylie last in the district... but that comes with the territory. If I were to try and pick Houston teams... yeah, that wouldn't be cool!

Actually, I believe Diggs' has picked against Plano East every week this year until the last week...and that was a 3-0 game for those picking games over there as everyone picked East that week! :D

He recognized Plano East's potential early this year. I don't remember him picking the Panthers to win much.

I'm a little late to this but I agree with Diggs. Bell was a deserving playoff side. A relentless front 7, and a better than your average Bell offense. I scoffed before the Bell game when I read an article that Bell would be a difficult out for Trinity...and they weren't wrong.

Bell, one of my suprise teams of the season

Matt has a passion for HS football - no one can deny that. He knows his stuff most of the time, but he also realizes that a big part of his job is to generate discussion. He does that very well... here we are discussing him on a totally different site...

I'm coming around to that quite happily. He does have an eye for the game, I may subscribe to his site
