2. SA MacArthur vs San Marcos @ Texas State in 06??? (as u can tell, im horrible w years) 3 or 4 OTs

3. Converse Judson vs. SA MacArthur when i was like 9...also 3 or 4 OTs

the last two games were cold as HELL, so we were hoping for someone to mess up so we could go home...didn't matter which team it was!

2 OTs, we won, laudable offensive performances (on both sides), and i got the best view of all...:D

also it was slc's first loss in district play in 5a so i like that we were the ones to do that

The best game I ever saw would be impossible to pick....I've seen so many.

The one that ment the most was Garland's victory over Highland Park in 1987, the next to last game of the season, in a rain storm, the whole game, that put Garland into the playoffs for the first time in 9 years and broke a long losing streak to HP.

We hung on, big underdogs, all game, and held HP drive deep in our territory, we scored late to make it 20-17, then held on for the win......the 1000 or so Garland fans there will never forget that feeling...because the timing and who we beat made it very sweet.

1.) & 2.) Abilene Cooper vs. Abilene High in 2001 & 2002 aka "The Showdown at Shotwell" I & II.

3.) Abilene Cooper vs. Midland Lee in 2000.

Jordan Neal (All-State QB) vs. Cedric Benson (All-State RB). Record setting Classic game!

4.) Abilene High vs. South Grand Prairie in the 1999 playoffs @ Texas Stadium.

One that I had to listen to on the internet:
5.) Abilene Cooper vs. Midland High in 2002. Cooper beats the Dawgs 45-42 in 3 OTs.

the 2 best games I have ever seen...

1 - Wylie vs. Woodrow Wilson (Round 2, 2004)
Wylie was down 31-3 at halftime, and came back from 28 points down to beat Sergio Kindle.

2 - Denison vs. McKinney (2008 regular season)
65-64 win for Denison in which they went for a 2 point conversion upon scoring their final touchdown to win the game. DJ Jones also got the single game rushing record for Denison, eclipsing the mark by nearly 100 yards.

Best Games i have seen
1. Pearland vs. Cy-fair 16-15 Pearlands' all running offense scored with 1 min left after an all passing drive and holding Sam Mcguffie under 100 yd's.
2.Pearland vs. Cinco Ranch 34-31 3OT. 4th and 15 Pearland needs a field goal to tie and a touchdown to win. QB Sam Proctor runs it in all the way for the score.
3.Pearland vs. Austin Westlake 32-35. Pearland was down by alot. Almost made a comeback by scoring off of a onside kick. but barely missed the second onside kick and the clock ran out.
4. Pearland vs. Northshore 21-14. North Shore went up 14-0 then Pearland shut them down and scored 21 unanswered.

1) Longview 45 vs Lufkin 37 3OT, 2008, Lobos win in triple overtime against their long long time rival. Lobos down 20-7 at the half, come back hard in the 4th to take the lead before Lp ties it up as time runs out. Then the Lobos and Pack answer each other back and forth until Longview puts Lp in an unreal 4th and 34753453476535234512987423762389 situation (lol) and the Lobos win it.

2) Southlake Carroll 37 vs Lufkin 30, 2004, Lp was down big at the half in the Semi-Finals, but came back and tied the game late. But in typical Dragon fashion, SLC came right back and scored to win the game.

3) Longview 43 vs Evangel 26, 2003, Longview trailed the Eagles 26-14 at the half, and even 26-20 after 3. Then the Lobos exploded for 22 points in the 4th quarter to be the nationally ranked Eagles.

4) Southlake Carroll vs Euless Trinity, 2006, Unreal atmosphere that saw two heavyweights go back and forth. All I have to say is...stupid fake punt!

1 Trinity vs SL Carroll two years ago...huge crowd, great game, unbelievable talent on the field

2 Jesuit vs Lake Highlands, 2004...double-overtime in front of a packed house at LH...if Jesuit wins, they are district champs their first year in UIL...if Jesuit loses, they are out of the playoffs...Jesuit is up 14 late before LH scores, converts an onside kick, and scores again...Jesuit scores a TD in the second OT to win, and the student section mobs the Jesuit players on the field

3 HP vs Plano many years ago...HP makes a huge comeback to win late at Texas Stadium in the playoffs

wow..so many great games to choose from.
For me though, one of the absolute best was a 1993 4A Quarter Final matchup between #1 A&M Consolidated and #3 La Marque in Pasadena. ACM had been domintaing 4A the past 4 seasons playing in 3 State Title games and wining the 1991 Crown. La Marque was rebuilding their program and had gone undefeated in 1992 till getting blasted in the quarterfinals 32-7 by ACM. The 1993 game was an absolute classic! Back and forth, ACM scored the go ahead Touchdown at the 3 minute mark on a bomb from Jeff Watson (Baylor) to Troy Walters (Stanford, Viking, Colt)..La Marque then storms backs and on 3rd down from around their own 40..they pull off a hidden ball type play where the QB rolled right and somehow snuck the ball to the tailback from behind..he just stood there for a few seconds then took off down the left sideline for a huge gain..Bryon Evans (Univ of Minnesota) scored the winning Touchdown on a 3 yard run with 13 seconds remaining to lift La Marque to a 36-34 win. La Marque went on to lose to Art Briles' Stephenville Yellow Jackets led by Brandon Stewart (Tennessee, Texas A&M) in the State Title Game. La Marque would go on and play in 6 consecutive State Title games, winning 3 Tiltes. The 1993 ACM game got them over the hump. ACM moved on to 5A the next year and in their first 5A game, defeated #7 Odessa Permian 23-3!
Sorry that was so long...but when I start thinking about that game....just cant stop talking about it!

I have 2 from the same year. 1992 and Lake Highlands.

1. LH beats Richardson in a game forever known as "jersey gate". Phil Dawson hits a 52 yard fg to beat Richardson 19-17, I believe was the final.

2. LH beats Nacadoches on a last second Phil Dawson 53 yard fg in the playoffs. Nac leads in penetrations, game was tied, so if Phil misses, LH is out. But everyone knows Phil doesn't miss. He never missed...that's why he's the best kicker I've ever seen. Real solid guy also.

'78 SLC 32 Farmersville 27

Farmersville was ranked #1 in the state and had a lineup loaded with all-stars. The QB (Bobby Bishop) already had a full ride to OU locked up and the RB was super quick behind a large and dominating O-line. In those days only 1 team advanced so the game was for the District championship. To date SLC had only won 1 district title and that was in the 60's. There was an overflow crowd at the old old Dragon Stadium (now a lacrosse field or something like that...) to watch Dragons take a big step that night. The game it self was a thriller right down to the end.

Wasn't Arl. Sam Houston one VERY close play away from upsetting Carroll in 2002 or 2003?

I was not there, but have seen the film on that one. Don't bring it up to Kenny Perry -- he is still convinced Sam got robbed :).

One of the fastest players (Sam QB) "let" the slowest LBs on the field strip the ball from behind. The ball went through the endzone and out of bounds. Perry and Sam crowd thought it went out of bounds before the goal line. Zebras didn't see it that way. SLC ball.

Oh and CW struggled throwing to the sidelines in that game and the previous PO game in TS.

And did I mention that the Sam speed and blocking gave the D all they wanted and more!

3 HP vs Plano many years ago...HP makes a huge comeback to win late at Texas Stadium in the playoffs

hp v plano in 77 was better than the 00 rematch. 29 unanswered points in the last 16 minutes with the final score on a 55 yd flea flicker and a 2 point option play. if you've ever wanted to see 15k scotties struck speechless, that was the time.

I remember going to a game when I was a kid back in the mid-to-late 70's with my dad and uncle, my brother and a couple of cousins. It was Plano and Highland Park. Plano won state that year, but they were down 28-0 at halftime in this game and had to come back to win 29-28. That was an exciting game...very hard fought. It was one of those momentum things you could just feel, though. Plano got the big mo and never let go. :D

This game was absolutely rediculous. It was Vincent Youngs last season at madison before going off to texas. I think the two offenses combined had like 1100 yards of offense and the scor ended up being like 60 something to 50 something. i was there and i will never forget that game

the 2 best games I have ever seen...

Wylie vs. Wilson in 04...Man that was a GREAT game!

I would also add this years Plano vs. Wylie game...Wylie "D" stiffens (sp?) and it looks like the Pirates are going to pull off the upset of the #2 team. But Plano pulls out the "W" on the back of "Superman" with 1:36 left in the game. Thought my kids were going to have to find me a defibilator! :D

2.) For the most pleasure, the 2003 state final between the Woodlands and NorthShore...23-7 NorthShore.

2007 AMC vs Kileen Ellison, Ellison jumped out to a 20 point lead (blocked extra point) in the first quarter, AMC came back but missed the extra point, then scored again and faked extra point to make it 28-27, Ellison was driving with under a minute left but AMC sacked them on fourth down to clench it

2001 Abilene High vs. Abilene Cooper

Both state ranked, AHS down 10 with less than 1 min left. AHS scores a TD, have to go for the onside kick and recover it with less than a minute left. Can't move the ball very far and JB Gibbs kicks a 40+ yard field goal as time expires to force overtime (first time in AHS-CHS rivalry). In over time AHS kicks a field goal and as Cooper lines up to attempt a short field goal for the tie, David Salas flies in to block it and AHS wins the game in extremely dramatic fashion. Watching the fans leave and come back was like watching the tides go out and in. Amazing game.

I choose to ignore the 2002 AHS-Cooper game because AHS lost;)

1986 Reagan vs Willowridge at Memorial Stadium, area playoffs, down 26-0 half way through the 3rd, Big Blue storms back to win on penetrations 26-26.

1988 Reagan vs Westlake first meeting, at Chaps Stadium. Big plays and excitement, Raiders took the lead late in the 4th on a TD pass from Butler to Green. Chaps drive the field in last seconds aided by a Saxton pass to the TE down the middle, that sets up the winning FG. Great game in first meeting between the two schools, the old Austin vs the new. 3rd play of game Raider's QB Ritchie Butler takes it about 80 yards, Saxton gets a long run later. Brian Wilson rushes for 150, and Butler tops 100 also, but the Raiders fall, 23-21 or so.

1990 Judson vs LBJ, Nelson Field Rockets were ranked #1, but a very talented LBJ squad lead by Cedric Shaw, Demo Odem, Kendall Toliver and Mario Freeman among others. Jags had went 0-4 vs the state's toughest schedule having played Arlington, Jay, Tyler Lee and Reagan, but they dominated Judson for nearly 4 quarters and held on vs late charge.

1990 Reagan vs LBJ, Nelson Field. Reagan's first year in 4A, the NE Austin rivals face off in game #1 at Nelson. The Raiders trailed 12-0 most of game before coming back to win 14-12 on two TDs by sophmore Greg Bell.

1990 Reagan vs Kerrville Tivy, Memorial Stadium. Both teams were 11-0 and both had beaten eventual state finalist Westlake. This was a hard faught game, with the Raiders winning late 21-17 in classic.

1994 LBJ vs Killeen, Reagan vs A&M; 1997 or 8 at Westlake vs Judson 35-31 at Westlake, year Judson won state vs Mojo? 2001 Reagan vs New Braunfels area 21-19; Quarters vs Bastrop 41-38? Trimble Tech vs. Lewisville-first round of 1989 5A playoffs: Tech pulled off the upset against a damn good Farmers squad by a score of 18-13.

Trimble Tech vs. LD Bell-second round of 1989 5A playoffs: Led by All American defensive tackle Henry Ford the Bulldogs pulled off an even bigger upset after defeating Lewisville the week before, by beating the Raiders 21-14.

Carroll vs. Vernon-1992 3A playoffs: I was 10, going on 11, when I witnessed "Big Dex" take on the Dragon Machine in front of an overflow crowd at Pennington Field. This was a game that you just had to be there to witness it.

Everman vs. Forney-2001 3A D1 playoffs: Another overflow crowd at Pennington for this one. Number 2 Everman defeats DaBryon Blanton and the number 1 ranked Jackrabbits, 21-17. Blanton is one of the fastest guys I've seen on 2 feet.

Lufkin vs. Spring Westfield-2001 5A D2 playoffs: Westfield leads 19-0 going into the 4th quarter, but, Lufkin had a guy named Reggie who, well, long story short, Lufkin won 26-19 in overtime in "The Dome".

Carroll vs. Sam Houston-2002 5A D2 playoffs: see every other post about this game in this thread. The Texans give Chase Wasson and the Dragon passing game fits all game long. But, sophomore Aaron Luna had a big day against the Texans, and the Dragons pulled it out 19-16.

Carroll vs. Miami Northwestern-2007: this one needs no statement.

Unfortunately I havent seen as many games as yall have so:

1) Memorial vs. Westfield 2007... Down 7-0 at half we came back scored 10 points held them 1/2 a yard short on 4th and 3 with like 1 min left and they had the ball on like our the 17 yard line... We got the ball back and they had enough TOs to take us to 4th down... So our QB ran around in the end zone for a good 15 seconds (took em a while to figure out what we were doing) we gave them the safety (10-9) and then their hail mary was picked off with 1 second left... Great game...
2) Memorial vs. Stratford 2007... Heavy underdogs... They had all the (Andrew) Luck... We werent going to playoffs they had made 2nd in district... After having a 6 play goal line stand (all the plays were within the 2 yard line) we went into halftime up 14-0... We dominated them 21-7 - they didnt score till LATE 4th quarter
3) Memorial vs. Nimitz 2006 and Memorial vs. Eisenhower - back to back games and similar endings mean they should be together... Had we lost either game we wouldnt have gone to playoffs (we lost in 2nd round to Katy)... Nimitz had their homecoming that day... We were down 2... We drove 80 yards in 2 mins (and that was before we had a real passing game - we were very one-deminsional) and kicked a field goal as time expired... Eisenhower we were down 4 with about 2:30 left... Drove down the field (same fashion - passing) and scored a TD with 23 seconds left...

Now I didnt see this game but it deserves an honorable mention... Elsik was beating Taylor 28-7 in the 4th quarter in week 10 this year (winner made playoffs loser was out)... Taylor came back and tied it on a last second hail mary (21 points in the 4th quarter)... And then won in 2OT 38-31

One of the most emotional games I have ever been to. I cried for weeks, and I wasn't even on the field. That was one of the toughest loses, I seriously would be working and just out of nowhere I would start crying. With it going into OT I think is what it made it so much more emotional. It is the greatest high school football game I have ever seen.

Agreed, that was very refreshing and despite what is said on this board from time to time, both teams have a lot of respect for each other.

Katy- Westbrook 94'

Katy- IKE 97'

Katy- Humble 02'

Katy- Elsik 03'

Katy- SLC 03'

Then theres the cy-falls saga.

I forgot about that crazy game in 2003 against Elsik! We have had our share of troubles against the rams through the years.

Yeah, I wholeheartedly agree that team negated a ton of talent because it was a turnover machine.

Tell me about it! Atleast 3 of those turnovers that I remember, happened in Carroll's endzone. Williams threw 2 picks, and then, there was the very controversial fumble that Williams had on Carroll's goalline after making a beautiful run.

Turnovers were a big reason why Sam finished 5-5 during the regular season that year.

I know they've been mentioned, but here are mine:

1) Hebron/Desoto - 2007 Area Round 4 OT's
1a) SLC/Trinity - 2006
2) Plano/Trinity - 2007

But it looks as though if I would have witnessed last night's CHill/PW game, that may have trumped all of them.

CH vs. Garland in 2006...back and forth with some serious college talent....we get stopped inside the 2 3 straight times...what heartbreak...next week CH takes Cy Falls behind the woodshed...the CH vs. Garland game in essence was for the title...

1994- John Tyler vs. Plano East is hands down the greatest High School football game in Texas. 3 minutes left it was 41-14 JT. Final 48-44. That is 37 points scored in 3 minutes. Amazing.

LOL :D...What made that game great was seeing the shock and awe on the Tech players faces. They really had a good team, but were just not ready for Mojo that day.

Waco @ Copperas Cove 2001

Waco drives down the field to tie the score up @ 34 with a dramatic TD with 34 seconds remaining. Looks like its headed to overtime,
Then Leon Johnson returns the ensuing kickoff 100 yards and Cove wins 41-34!!!

Cy Falls v Katy 2006 (no need to explain:))
Cy Falls v Katy 2005 (didn't like the outcome but what a comeback!)
Cy Falls v Cy Fair 2006 (winning with a 2 pt conversion w/seconds to go)
Cy Falls v Stratford 2006
Cy Falls v Strake Jesuit 2006

Of course then there is every game I ever saw at SB - loved those Bears. But the two that stick out the most are the only two games we won in 1984:

SB v Stratford - there were like 50 people in the stands (not kidding - it was pouring) but we finally beat Stratford! There were no cheerleaders so we lead all the cheers (Imagine that:rolleyes:)

SB v Memorial - We hadn't beaten our arch rivals in I don't remember when - we had 30 kids on varsity - all small - they had huge boys and about 65 players. Tully was sold out. I was in the locker room for the pre-game speech. Coach's speech made me cry - I'd been going to their games since I was like 2 years old. I got to go on the field with the team thanks to my husband being on the staff. I spent the first half on the field with the boys and the second half in the stands with so many of my dear friends - all of us crying and cheering at the same time. It was the last and most special game for a very proud and historied program. We won with a field goal with the clock running out. Tully was rocking that night - even more than the Cy Falls/Katy 2006 game - put that one to shame!!

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->wasnt that in 3 OT?

2001 was 1 OT. All Cooper had to do to win the game was run out the clock, but they got greedy and had to score one more TD on a long pass. That's the only way Abilene was going to get the ball.

1. Plano East vs John Tyler (1994) - 'I feel sick for those kids'

Here's video from the ending. If you haven't seen it or don't know what happened, it's well worth the 4:37 it takes to watch. There have been many fantastic high school games, but I feel comfortable saying nothing like this will ever happen again.

Posted this a few year back. It still applies...

Koy Detmer quarterbacked the 1990 Mission team. Got to see he and his team play a reg. season game against Alice earlier that year at Tom Landry Stadium in Mission. Landry's also a Mission boy. One of the best games I have ever witnessed. A kid named Herman Arreallano from Alice outgunned Detmer and led the Coyotes to a dramatic 50-49 win. Just awesome.

Misssion won a rematch iin a 5A regional playoff matchup later that year

The best games I've seen in person are Hebron/Desoto in the 2007 playoffs and Carroll/Plano in the 2005 playoffs. Plano was in the lead at the half but Carroll came back.

I can understand why the three below are favorites here because I listened to them on radio. Great games!

Plano East vs. Tyler John Tyler 1994
Lufkin vs. Southlake Carroll 2004
Carroll vs. Trinity 2006
