Berkner QB Johnson NO SHOW FOR GAME!!

I can see why Berkner scored only 7 points today in their loss.

I saw on the DMN that QB johnson did not play due to 3 broken facial fractures suffered on Wednesday?

Anyone know what happen? Was it a non-football injury>

That might explain why Berkner couldn't move the ball so well, but I don't think it would have made a difference. Consol was playing w/out their starting QB and RB. Berkner was the worst looking 5A team I have seen as far as passing the eyeball test. How big was their left tackle. He looked like he was about 5'8" and 165 lbs. They played hard and had some speed on defense but lost to an average ACM team. Consol is playing well up front though. I think if Berkner were in 13-5A they would have come in next to last ahead of Temple, but they weren't and it seems like they had a great season. Congrats to both teams, but only one moves on and that's the Tigers.

Hey, Heights was an average team too. Oh yeah, reflect back on the teams that yall played and compare them to the teams the other 13-5A schools have played. Worst Woodlands team in 10 years, Pflugerville 6-4 and Berkner...please. Every coach I know wants to be in Div 1 because it is usually an easier route and Div1 in region 2 is defenitely weak. Despite the unlucky injury and outcome, I have to give a lot of kudos to Jim Ledford and all the players for an outstanding year!!!!! As a long time Plano fan, I thought I would see Berkner put together a great season, much less get to the 3rd Round EVER!!!! Jim Ledford started with a team that went from bottom to a real contender. I hope Ledford builds on this season and gets some momentum for 2006...............HATS OFF TO BERKNER!!!!!!

HB2Kyou don't know me. You really ought to keep your opinions to yourself regarding who I am and what I do.

As for Ross Rogers and the team in 91, I haven't a clue. Any team that gets to the finals or final 4, for that matter, has to overachieve at some point during the season.

As far as our coaches, they do a fine job. I'm sure they are plenty happy to still be playing and not visiting stadiums to watch the other teams in their district that are still playing.

If you wish to call us average, that is certainly your right. If you wish to prop Cove and Lufkin, that's cool too. They are both good teams, neither of which I'd call average. Certainly not since they are both still in the hunt for a championship You gave Lufkin a close call, but still you lost. You gave Consol a close call and still you lost. You gave Cove a great game and still you lost. Average? That would make y'all Below Average and I don't believe that for a minute.

We appreciate your support and all of the 13-5A support. I don't mean to pick specifically on you, because the sports "know it alls" all have us pegged as the underdog in every game we play. It's a team game. If one player goes down, the team shouldn't just fold and go home. It doesn't say much for your coaching staff that they didn't a good plan for a back up QB. If the best you have to come in hadn't played QB since Jr. High, something is very wrong with your program.

I am sorry you didn't have your best QB. I guess I could also go so far as to say if our number one TB hadn't blown out his ACL, we'd have won by 40. (rubbish, huh?)

I knew going into this game that it was going to be a field-position battle. The fact that our offense was crippled didnt help us in that aspect at all. I'm not saying that Justin would have won or lost us the game, especially the way your defense was playing, but he would have kept us in a position to at least compete unlike what happened tonight. Seemed like Consol's offense played with half a field the majority of the game. It also doesnt help when your offense cant hold onto the ball for more than 2 minutes at a time. Especially against a clock-controlling offense such as Consol's. I'm curious to know what the times of possession were for each team.

But thats the sad part about it, we dont know for sure either way. Sucks to have it end on an injury, but thats the way the chips fall. Had we been at full strength this game would have been the best matchup of the week. Congrats to Consol and good luck in the semi's!

Check your history, plenty of average teams make it to the third round and even the 4th round. WF Hirshi did it a few years ago with a 3-7 record. It wasn't only Berkner without all its all offensive firepower...A&M Consol's junior RB Daniel Palmer was also a no-show. Palmer was a unanimous 1st Team All-District selection last year as a soph and Consol's leading rusher when his season ended during the Bryan game.

After that, the team had to pull its collective fat out of the fire on more than one ocassion. Consol won games that they probably shouldn't have. But, it's the mark of a way-above average team that they can pull that type of thing off. The game is never over when you play consol. Don't just play 47 minutes or you lose. We've earned that reputation

Now in the playoffs, we've earned the reputation of smash-mouth offensive football. Cramming it down the throat of 3 good defenses. Our defense has continued to play incredible. When we were making all those comebacks, the defense kept us in those games. Now at the end of the season, they are like running into a brick wall.

There is nothing average about this team. This team just knows how to win.

Am I proud? You bet. I've watched these guys practice from 2 a days until now. They've pulled together like no other team I've watched or coached. It is damn impressive. And, I contend, it certainly isn't average.

You need to know what you are talking about before your start running your little mouth. The '91 team that won State for ACM was PREDICTED to be an average team. They were preseason #3 in district. Go back and ask Ross if he thought the '91 team was average during district play and in the playoffs..b/c I gurantee you he will not agree with you. During that stretch ACM was lightouts in every phase of the game..a very complete team. Average teams dont win semifinal games against the likes of #1 Austin Westlake 38-6..and dont win state championships. At one point in the year was this ACM team average..yes..are they now?...in no way

Heights Boy, this years Heights Team was not just an average team. They were probably much better than the Heights 2000 team in fact. They just had to play in the big leagues this year is all. Some kid that graduated in 2000 calling someone else Junior is a bunch of BS. - Get over yourself and support your hometown son.
And it doesn't matter which Division that your in when it gets down to the final Twelve 5A teams in the state of Texas (D1 & D2 combined) and if your still out there practicing come December. Its basic math (which you must have slept through) Every team still playing is above average at this point in the season. Just ask the 1100+ teams that are back at home trading in their football pads for basketball shorts.

I very seriously doubt that this years Consol team could have beat the 2000 Ozen team, but we'll never know that and that's a weak argument I admit that. Calling me "Son" is a bunch of BS. Like I said it does matter which division you get into. Division II region II had 4 undefeated teams in it, how many did Division I have. In Division I many teams you end up playing lesser quality teams ask your ACM Coaches, they'll tell you. BTW I graduated college in 3.5 years, am working on my masters degree and I own my own computer repair business. So yeah, I slept through basic math because it was too easy. And for the last time, CONSOL IS STILL AN AVERAGE TEAM!!!!!



Heights Boy, this years Heights Team was not just an average team. They were probably much better than the Heights 2000 team in fact. They just had to play in the big leagues this year is all. Some kid that graduated in 2000 calling someone else Junior is a bunch of BS. - Get over yourself and support your hometown son.
And it doesn't matter which Division that your in when it gets down to the final Twelve 5A teams in the state of Texas (D1 & D2 combined) and if your still out there practicing come December. Its basic math (which you must have slept through) Every team still playing is above average at this point in the season. Just ask the 1100+ teams that are back at home trading in their football pads for basketball shorts.

I support them and am very proud of them, but I am also realistic. Average teams tend not to have FBs (Clif Groce) that go to Texas A&M and the NFL with QBs (Preston:signed with A&M and Watson: signed with Baylor) that are Dave Campbells 1st Team Super Team. "If" Rogers is telling you the talent at Consolidated was average when he won State, then maybe he is also wanting you to believe he is a great coach since he took average talent and won a State championship. I believe Rogers to be a good coach, but he had more than average talent.

The current Consol team is well prepared and well coached. Just as important, the Consol players are coachable and believe in themselves as a team...every player on this team has heart and purpose.

What the hell. You win. I'm crazy. Yep, I'm homless too. :) I'm one of a very few people on this board that make my identity known. I always think twice about what I post. No matter, it never results in name calling to some unidentified person a few hundred miles away. No personal attacks, just football.

My only point is that we are far from average. That is the only exception I take with your comments above. 59 or 48 minutes, you get my meaning just fine.

I can't predict how well we'll do against Trinity or Franklin, but I'd venture to guess their coaches aren't sitting around telling their kids how AVERAGE Consol is. I can only dream that they will. :)

too bad every consol parent LOVES his pictures. You know how many kids use those pictures for a computer class to make a collages every week. That's the one thing a lot of kids and parents look foward to, those pictures of them and their kids. So next time you wanna critizice a parent who is dedicated, look at yourself, maybe your jealous. He's an awesome parent, and I love his pictures!
So don't you dare diss parents, because they are the backbone to high school sport teams these days.
