Dear president Bush, thank you for having your oil buddies lower gas prices this week - it really makes up for the past 8 years.

Interesting to note that when gas was $4.00 plus, all we heard was supply and demand, we don't control that, etc. from the oil execs.
Has it all changed to this degree in such a short span?

Speaking of Bush, nobody in the media talked about this article that proves Saddam was working on WMD's in Iraq.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25546334/

Of course nobody in the media also talks about the trail of corruption and terrorist ties of our President-elect, either. I'm not saying other politicians don't have skeletons in the closet; I just don't know that we've had any that were so far socialist to the left and at the same time looked to have more loyalty outside the U.S. than inside the U.S.

Yes. It is largely a result of changing conditions on the demand side rather than on the supply. Changed driving habits, substantial reduction in incomes and the dramatic wealth effects kicking in over the past two months have led to a rapid and substantial shift in the entire demand function for gasoline, with the subsequent reduction in price.

LOL? thats not a WMD or anything close to a WMD.

There are no terrorist ties to the president-elect, and there is no corruption tied to him. Stop getting your news from the McPain Stalin campaign. I guess its bad that he is supported more inside the U.S. than McCain and more outside the U.S.

I don't know DrE. I'd agree that supply has basically remained unchanged, but everyday usage comes about more of a necessity than choice.
Curtailed road trips by families certainly, but I can't really see enough changes to affect the price at the pump by more than half currently, and still headed down at least for the time being.
And, I wouldn't think that demand in developing nations has dropped to any substantial degree either.
I tend to believe that the speculation crowd has and is dumping and we are rocking back to some actual level of realism.

Not complaining, just wondering.

Certainly the speculative bubble has decidedly burst and that was a major component of the demand side as well as on the supply side. But it is also true tha Iraq, at the moment has calmed down somewhat, and that certainly releaves some of the tension in world oil markets. It also appears to be the case that demand in the developing countries has been significantly impacted by macro conditions. China has been subsidizing gas prices and suddenly has to worry far more about its own financial systems.

Is it really the demand side? I know I haven't changed any of my driving habits whatsoever, neither has the wife or parents. I'm just having trouble taking that. I still see people driving like maniacs and act like I-10 is the Texas Motor Speedway at rush hour...

So, since the price of fuel has gone down.... shouldn't all the products that had price increases follow? Like milk? Logistic/transportation companies?

You need to get yourself a costco card....it's usually about 20 cents cheaper than other stations.

And I was wondering when someone would start a thread about this. It has literally dropped half in a month...it's insane. I like it though. Now when i'm at the pump I don't go ":Censor:70 bucks for 15 gallons? :Censor:" nope. Now it's "28 bucks? :Censor:ing SWEET!"

All I'm saying is Exxon Mobile does not NEED to make 200 billion dollars and pay their CEO 30 million a year... Whats wrong with profiting 50 billion and paying your CEO 2 million a year... They are using the consumer because they know they can... That to me is GREED..
