I realize its turf, but if it rains a lot it does get sloppy as far as cutting, traction and even holding onto the ball.
I still think SLC pulls away in the end and takes this game handily.

turf doesn't get sloppy. one of the best, most precisely played games in the 02 season was during and after a monsoon of 3-4 inches. no fumbles on ints and 300 plus yds passing.5-8 mph winds are predicted so weather appears to be a non-factor.

i dont think there will be anyone anytime soon that will be able to replace matt, but our new kicker is pretty good. he's been hurting since week 3 or 4, something with his hip, but it doesnt get talked about much because he hasnt missed any time, plus that position is very underrated. he's not another matt but he's more than adequate for the job.

and yes turf does get sloppy, it is pretty damn slick when it gets wet

MANY MANY moons ago, when that wet stuff you refer to as "water"?? fell from the sky, the turf at shotwell (the same as the new turf everywhere else, and at fcs) gets prety slick, not as slippery as playing on grass and mud, but you will see problems with footing tonight if it rains.

Though Abiliene went down tough, they made it this far and should be proud. Had it been another team on a different night with different conditions Abiliene might have won. O well always next year!!!

Simply put this game was a blowout from the start. I said it previously and got my head ripped off by one of the Warbirds but this Abilene team was a shell of who they were last year. SLC beat them in all phases of the game and beat them badly....this game was a joke!!

Prediction of the Plano/Midland game:

I believe Plano will blast Midland & set-up a SLC/Plano match-up at Texas Stadium. The score.....

several phases of ahs' team this year were significantly less than last year. the defense didn't have the dominant, sideline to sideline lb. the offense didn't have the stud rb. the kicking game didn't come into play, but it wasn't as good. leong was very good, as was potts. twasn't enough.

We drove from Corpus, full of turkey.....I left at 8 minutes to go after Riley threw his TD...& I did'nt have to ride that "stretch Limo with movies" you guys were on...:D DMN said 33,000 people at the game..pretty good for a one game event! I would agree that 20,000 was Abilene, great fans..tuff drive home...

If the Abilene Eagles are the best of west Texas then there are a whole lot of very very poor teams in west Texas. I have already forecasted that Euless Trinity will slaughter EP Franklin, I wish to revise my prediction for a close win for Plano vs Midland – Plano will slaughter Midland. District 3 a tough district? I think that question has been answered.

Well, here it goes: Congratulations, SLC. You guys were awesome, or else Ab. stinks--prob. a little bit of both. I was sitting w/ some Waco friends before the game and explained to them how good I thought Ab. was before the game--most crow I've ever had to eat during a game. SLC's off. & def. lines are very good; passing game is awesome. SLC could have just heaved the long pass on every play & made it 100--0 if they had wanted to. Ab. couldn't even score against the SLC reserves. Good luck to the Dragons the rest of the way. I can't imagine anyone beating this team. They have improved greatly since the game I saw w/ Lee & the game w/ DR on tv. I'd posted on here previously that the Ab. pass def. wasn't very good, but I honestly didn't know that it was that bad.

One bit of advice fm. an old Permian fan to some of the SLC posters & fans: You should try to exercise a little sportsmanship on your posts. I'm here to tell you that all great programs eventually go down (I know); & so will SLC's. There will come a time someday (if you're lucky enough to follow your team along time), when you will have to sit through ALOT of disappointing seasons, then you'll be able to recognize crass, classless posts fm. arrogant fans of winning teams. Until then, though, enjoy the ride; I know that most of the SLC fans aren't represented by the few arrongant ones on here--"we" (Abilene) have some stupid jerks, too, but they don't represent all of us. Good luck to SLC; you deserve the high rankings, & "we" didn't (I'm a Per. fan, but there's a very close tie among our dist.'s teams & fans). I'll be @ the sta. in a few min. cheering for Mid. I don't know if I can take 2 blowouts in 24 hrs., & I'm afraid I may have flashbacks of bad experiences when I see those Plano uniforms again. :)

Good post mojo & so true..I honestly don't see a lot of chest thumping by Carroll posters, but what we do see is a lot of testy responses to people taking shots at Carroll regarding quality of opposition, Tre Newton can't run tuff, McElroy is overrated, defense is weak, etc. We've been winning for a long, long time and know that there are ups & downs with any program. I've praised the Abilene faithful on here but they were totally overwhelmed last night. Its time to move on to the 4th round! Good luck to everybody & be safe..

honestly there are only 2 i have seen and they rarely post; and no i don't think its my place to call people out; but as the previous poster said our less-than-classy posts usually come as a response to attacks from other school's posters "ie mc sucks or ur team sucks since u nearly lost go gvine"
