That's right folks. Some guy at Free Shoes University mentioned Judson in his thesis about dominance in sports!

I've been wasting my time posting here when I could've been working on a Master's degree!

Judson has been winning since 1977 when coach Sanders came to Judson ever since then Judson has had a winning program. Then coach Arnold came in 1981 and his first season with the Rockets they still went 6-4 and then the next season 82 they went to the semi finals and lost to west brook 28 -12 and the in 83 Judson wins its first state title.

Your one year off Rocketman, Coach Arnold's first year at Judson was 1980. That was also Judson's first year in the same district with the NE schools. They did have 6-4 record that year, 4-4 in district. The following year, 1981, they were 7-3, 6-2 in district, which was good enough for second place. The following year, 1982, the UIL started including the 2nd place teams in each district in the playoffs. Judson finished 14-1-0 that year, losing to Beaumont Westbrook 27-12, in the state semi-finals in the Astrodome. Of course the next year, 1983, Coach Arnold and Judson won their first state championship. Coach Arnold then became the AD and Coach Rutledge was promoted from defensive coordinator to the be the new head coach. Coach Parker, who was the offensive coordinator, left to become the head coach of the Marshall Mavericks, in Marshall, Tx. Word was that he was angry that he didn't get the head coaching job at Judson. The rest is history. Go Rockets!

I'm glad they took D.W. and not Parker. In an oddity, Marshall had the same helmet and uniform colors as Judson when Parker was the coach. I don't know if that's still true or not.

Where have you been for the last quarter century? Obviously, not following High School Football in the state of Texas.

Ask North Shore or Aldine Eisenhower who Judson is.

no need to school me on history. i am one that just gets tired of seeing all the judson, slc and katy posts about how great they are and how they get no respect. it begins to turn you off towards the programs after awhile. please see it from our side. it just gets old after awhile. "oh, we are so good and nobody can compete with us and no one ever respects us". the posters get so "old" after awhile.

after the playoffs are done, i want to start a real thread. about private schools competing in uil. then we can have something to talk about.

I myself believe on any given weekend you can lose and respect your opponent, even if it is culinary arts certified high. My feelings on privates in the UIL is not a positive one, but we can discuss that in Jan.
