Who do you like in this Round 1 matchup? Neither team has ever played the other.
I don't believe there are any common opponents this year, except Hebron scrimmaged Keller to open the season.
Bell fans don't be shy. Tell us why you will beat Hebron.

Can we get some insight on Bell from the 5-5A perspective? I, like many other Hebronites, don't know much much about 'em. Tommy Maddox is the only Bell player I know of, but I think his eligibility has run out.:D

No doubt Hebron is the favorite -- if Bell plays the kind of game they played against Keller, they will have more than a shot in this one -- Bell is coming off a respectable 10 point loss to Trinity where Bell wasn't close to firing on all cylinders -- some of that caused by Trinity...

Bell has a very good QB who runs well and has a good running back who could be sophomore of the year. They have a pretty good receiver who gets them out of trouble at times. They just don't have enough to beat Hebron.

Both teams come into this playoff game with identical 7-3 records. There are no common opponents between the two.
Bell's opponents are a combined 42-48 with the win over Keller being their only win over a team with a winning record. Their record against playoff teams is 1-3 with wins over Burleson and losses to Heritage and Trinity.
Hebron's opponent are a combined 58-41. Hebron has wins over five teams with a winning record (that includes Marcus's 5-5 record as technically that is not a losing record). Hebron's record against playoff teams is 4-2, which includes Abiline Cooper although they are 4-A.
Just on the strength of schedule, it looks like Hebron should win. But everyone knows it's more than that. In the trenches, Hebron's O-line should open up the holes for the Iwuji/Staten running game and give Iwuji enough protection for his 15-18 pass attempts to be efficient. The defensive front has been very physical the past month and the linebackers have also stepped it up.
Bell's strength is their running back, qb, and defensive front. Are their strengths better than Hebron's strength? I'm going out on a limb to say no.
Most everyone is predicting Hebron to roll in this one. But this could be one of those "anyone can beat anyone on any given day" kind of games. If Bell comes out and gets up on Hebron early and gets the momentum, it could be close game.
I expect Bell to come out fired up and keep it close early, but Hebron's offense takes over in the second half and Hebron wins 35-14.

Who are the key Bell guys on both Offense and Defense ?
The key guys for LD Bell are Lehi Tonga (QB) and Kenneth Farrow (RB) on offense. They have some solid playmakers at WR but how goes Tonga and Farrow, so goes the offense. Tonga's a very smart QB with the ball but does force a throw or two from time to time. That was the back-breaker against Northwest. When he finds a lane to scramble though, watch out. He's quick and can reel off a 10-15 yard run in the blink of an eye. Farrow is bar-none the best Sophomore I've watched on the field this year. If he gets just little gaps to run through, he will run all day. He's also a great blocker in the backfield and that's helped Tonga a lot this season, because as you'll see below; they've needed him to be a blocker. The fact that he's a Soph. makes it all the more impressive. Bell fans should be tee-tee-ing their pants that they'll get to watch him play for two more years and I think he's going to do nothing but get better. Bell's O-Line is their achilles heel. They've had some solid performances but aggressive Defensive schemes have kept them in check. I'd say Bell can put up a good 28 points on almost any defense.
On the defensive side of the ball, Bell is pretty solid all-around. They're not really a create turnovers and wreack havoc sort of defense. They are aggressive, but they like to sit back and wait for the offense to give them a turnover as opposed to forcing one them themeselves. That's not a knock on the defense because they're very good at forcing a short series for the opposing offense and will pile up a good amount of sacks throughout the game. They prey off 3-and-outs and short drives with just one or two first downs. Leki Uasike (pronounced like Leaky Weesocky) is their primary playmaker on the defense. He's aggressive getting to the ball-carrier and is the guy that's usually in the middle of every play. Their linebackers overall are probably what makes the defense. They're good on the pass rush and cover the TEs and RBs well. The same can be said for the secondary. They don't intercept many passes and do get burned occasionally but still defend the pass very well and numerous balls end up hitting the turf because of their ability to cover.
I don't know Hebron well at all because one of our crews gets them full-time. (the p-b-p guy's son plays for Hebron) So having said that, I cannot give a true prediction of the game, but I do think it will be a good one. Hope that helps, Hawk fan.

So, I was so shocked that we were playing Trinity that I just read the rest of the brackets. This should be a good game.
I would have to pick Hebron in this one, based on their size and speed.
I think Bell with hang with the Hawks for awhile but, will get worn down by their defense.
Hebron by 14. Go Hawks!

I think that Bell has come a long way this year and is a team on the rise, but I think they may come up a little short against Hebron.
On offense, Bell has a very good quarterback (Lehi Tonga); very elusive, tough runner and decent passer. He has a great, huge tight end (kid also is an excellent defensive end) to throw to. Trinity pressured Tonga all night but he is very slippery and tough. They also have a very good sophomore running back named Farrow. Good size and speed, very hard to bring down with one guy.
Defense, their front seven played Trinity very tough. They got a little run down towards the end of the game when Trinity lined up and ran right at them on a 9+ minute drive. They seemed a little weak against the pass.
I like and respect Bell, but I don't think they are quite ready to beat Hebron. Good luck to the Raiders though and I hope both teams come out of this injury free.

Hebron is on a roll. I do not see how LD Bell has a chance in this game. Hebron is playing well at the right time and they are focused on the task at hand. I would like to say Bell has a chance, but they don't. Hebron will quietly take care of bidness and move on to the next round.

It's not a question of talent for Bell versus Hebron. It's been an issue of consistency with Bell this year(Northwest and Fossil Ridge games come to mind). Not to mention Bell always seems to follow up an emotional game with Trinity with a lifeless stinker in the playoffs. Hopefully Bell can change that this week but it doesn't help that Hebron is hitting its stride.

That is saying a lot about Farrow because Tevin Williams at Trinity is phenomenal.
I just do not think Bell is in the same class as Hebron and the Hawks win this by at least two touchdowns, possibly a whole lot more.

The only Bell game I saw this year was the Trinity-Bell game last week. Tonga got 0 yards rushing and Farrow only got 60 yards rushing. If Hebron's defense can stop Tonga and Farrow, Hebron wins.

In looking at these two teams, they are very similar. Both have talented QB's who like to run, and do very well in that respect. Iwuji leads Hebron in both TD's and rushing yards, and Bell's QB pretty much mirrors that. Neither QB is a big pass player, but both have quality receivers when needed. I see a pretty close matchup here, but give the Hawks the offensive edge due to the talent on the line. Defensively, I think Hebron will also have the edge, both physically and mentally. They are pumped right now, and doing a great job of getting pressure on the QB. They just have to remember not to get too aggressive going after Bell's QB, for fear he will get loose up the middle like Iwuji likes to do, and rip off some good yardage. As long as Hebron doesn't allow the big gainers, I think they will wear down Bell's offense over the course of the game.
I see a fairly even, low scoring game.....Hebron 28 Bell 24

I've been purposefully covering teams that are not Trinity this year, because Trinity is not one of our schools. That way, it's easy to be an un-biased broadcaster. Therefore, I have not gotten to witness Williams in person this season. Hence my statement.
