Football Referees

How does one become qualified to referee football, HS, JR High, Peewee? Is it necessary to start at the peewee level and how do you become certified?

Try looking up your local chapter on the net. They are always looking for good men and women. Most use a point system, you will more than likely work Chains and down markers for awhile gaining points then move up to Jr High and Sub Varsity, before you ever sniff a Varsity field. I know around here the pay is awful, the travel is really long, and the abuse you have to take is worse than most foreign prisons, and you have to give up just about every Friday night for the rest of your life.

Yeah, my dad went to a class. That was it... he said most of the guys were in there 20s... it takes a while to get to the next level... you start at peewee and than Jr High.... I would guess that's for a few seasons...

It's a point system and I think it's like 2000 pts to maybe get into NCAA? Not real sure.... but the pay is scrappy... don't make it a living.. more like a past time...
