this is the best defensive team in the Big 12:

54 Texas Tech 616 plays 3146 yards 5.11 per play 24 TD's 349.56 yards

and this is the best offensive team:

2 Texas Tech 676 plays 5034 yards 7.45 per play 58 TD's 559.33 yards

maybe, just maybe they're the best team and might get lucky enough to beat Okie Lite, OU, and Baylor.....

if they get lucky!:D

Actually, the best defense in the Big XII is Texas followed by Okie Lite. In just conference play, the best is Okie Lite followed by Mizzou.

Racked up 466 last year. Still lost by 16. Until they change the rules, outcomes of games are not determined by yards gained or allowed.

not one to tout stats over substance, you know that, but my post was in the context of the thread...Lonny's thread.

OK, OK, I recognize where I went wrong...:o

Yard-wise, it's Tech on both accounts. We could argue the merits of skill and all that, but I was just reporting pure numbers. It's not like Tech doesn't do well in almost all the important offensive and defensive categories.

One could make an arugument that after they play Ok State/ou and perhaps Missouri, the numbers might look different.

Each one of them has given up a bunch of points so the numbers might just get better

That's possible, but KU and Texas didn't do nearly as well the last 2 weeks as they average. The last 2 weeks make my year-long theory look pretty valid. I wondered if Tech was holding back on D for the good games and that appears to be the case. It started in the 2nd Half of the A&M game and hasn't stopped.
