For me I'd have to say:

Robert Griffin, QB, Baylor- Heard some people call him mini VY for the way he runs. Just threw his first pick of the year yesterday! I believe that's a new NCAA record.

Trent Hunter, S, Texas A&M- Wasn't as highly recruited out of high school as some, but has more than proved that he can play. Had two picks against Colorado and had double digit tackles in two games this year (I believe).

Thoughts?

I'd say that I agree with your list! Griffin and Hunter, have both stood out alot but, due to the chaos going on in the Big12 South, there hasn't been many headlines for these guys.

I'd also like to say, that Georgia WR AJ Green has also been very impressive this year, right along with Oregon State RB Jac'Quizz Rodgers.

I haven't seen a whole lot of AJ Green, but I've heard he's a beast. I watched Quizz tear up USC. Makes me sad that he and his brother left the state to play.

I may be mistaken, but isn't Julio Jones, Alabama WR a true freshman? He has quite a range...very imposing figure.

I agree with Robert Griffin and Trent Hunter. Two great athletes in the Big 12 south showing what they are made of at a very young age.

This is more of a homer pick, but I'll also throw in Cyrus Gray and Jeff Fuller. Gray has over 1000 total yards on the season now and Fuller is the leading the Aggies in TD receptions.

Gideon would have been on this list if it were not for his droped ball last night

I would agree on Gray.

It's a tie...

RB-Jacquizz Rodgers (Oregon State) - He has 1176 ttl yds and 9 tds. He shows up in big games (Penn State - 127 ttl yds/2 tds) (USC - 213 ttl yds/2 tds) (Utah - 120 ttl yds/1 td).

=

QB-Robert Griffin (Baylor) - He has 2100+ ttl yds/21 tds. He also shows up in big games (UCONN - 250 ttl yds/4 tds) (OU - 180 yds/2 tds) (Mizzou - 300 ttl yds/3 tds).

Both of these kids will be exciting to see, for years.

Heck, Pryor just as much as anyone. We all knew this kid was good coming out of high school, but Ohio State fans are very demanding and this kid has really stepped up since being moved up to starter. Can't wait to see him play next year and the next.

Please believe, that Green is a beast!

As for Quizz and his older brother James, I'm also upset that they left the state. It would've damn sure been nice to have either one of them here in Fort Worth.

Just another reason for everybody else to hate us, and be jealous of us.

Take your pick of the Miami freshmen. Sean Spence (LB) is a beast.

i still vote for Blake Gideon. the guy has been very impressive all season. he does not look like a freshman out there, even with the 2 drops this past saturday. the drops are why he plays on the defensive side of the ball, but he can hit and he's a good cover safety, too.

I played against Trent Hunter last year, and he was a beast. This yea I have watched him every game, the dude is a heat seeking missile on the collee level as well. I see a very bright future for him, possibly a future all-american.

Julio Jones for Alabama is great too, I think he is going to do big things in the years to come

And played on opposite teams in the Div 1 State 4A finals last year. Griffin on the losing team as QB and Rogers on the winning team as the Second Half Game Winning Wonder. I came away from that game thrilled to have seen him play in spite of watching him shred our team in the second half. He is going to prove very valuable in the years to come. As will Griffin.

When UGA decides to use him right and actually have him apart of the game plan, AJ Green has been the best freshman I have seen this year. Then again its asking too much to use him as a deep threat and actually throw him the ball more than 4-5x a game.:Censor:
