I caught the tail end of the TTU game but had the privilege of watching the best ACU team in my lifetime whip the Hoggies in Kingsville. After suffering through 20 straight wins by the Hoggies, this was sweet. ACU clinches a share of the LSC for the first time since 77. Thanks, coach Thomsen.

Billy Malone sat and Stewart played a great game. You could tell the scaled back the offense. Scott had "only" 160 yards or so and is the best player I've ever seen in D2.

To the Hogs-- great game. Man, times have changed. When I was at ACU, it was ridiculous how much TAMUK outsized and outran us. The tables have turned. That ACU line is mammoth, biggest I've seen in D2. We have two tackles at 6-8 and 6-7, both over 300. I can't believe this is a Wildcat team. This team can take home all the marbles. Good to see Billy resting for the POs.

Up next-- Midwestern.

BTW, Maroondog, I was a bit shocked at the attitude from some of the band there members.....

I sat next to the A&I band and was walking back up from the concessions in the 3rd and I heard them yelling at me...I just figured they wanted to give me a hard time as I was sporting my Wildcat gear and one of the few ACU fans in that section.

They said "thanks for beating us so we don't have to travel in the playoffs." Pretty piss poor spirit IMHO. The rest of your fans were great, the guy I sat next to was knowledgable and die hard.

Great game by ACU. I listened while watching TTU. As I figured, the Hoggies just are not in the same class with ACU this year. Hope the Wildcats can take it all the way to a national title and represent the conference in a big way.
The Javs look like a team coming back from the dead though.

Sorry about the reception from some of the fans. You know how it is, there are always "some" in every crowd. They can get a little overzealous down in the brush country.

Hey, thanks for referring to us as A&I! I've never really been able to embrace the A&M label. Just a die hard I guess.

I had no problem with the way they treated us, class all the way around. I was disappointed that the band seemed not to care whether or not the Hoggies won, and were in fact glad we beat them so they didn't have to go to the playoffs.

MD, don't take this the wrong way (as I am from the valley myself) but y'all need to do some recruiting. There are way too many valley kids cluttering up your roster. A&I used to do well in Houston, SA area but that seems to have fallen off.

It was just flabbergasting to see the role change with these teams. The Hoggies used to line up and out size and out talent us at every postion, but this ACU team is the biggest DII team I've ever seen. There was a total mismatch at every position on the field save QB (as Billy Garza, a valley kid, was a legit DIA prospect and still has "it"). The ACU OL towered over the Hoggie DL and the ACU DL was faster, more athletic, and bigger at some positions that the Jav OL.

Anyway, the Hoggies have some solid talent at skill positions (quick, slippery RB and some speedy recievers) and have turned things around after the Harms era probation, but you need to get your trademark Javelina size back on the offensive and defensive lines if you want to come back to your traditional power status.

Still a great game and great atmosphere. Javelina Stadium has seen greatness and there is just an aura about the place. It's good to get some payback. You had your 20 year run against us.:p

I couldn't agree with you more. I haven't been real close with whats going on in several years except for the coaching changes which didn't please me.

Back in the day we had players from Houston, Beaumont, SA, and all points inbetween. I guess its just one of those things that happens and once you start falling off, its difficult to get back on an even keel. You have got to exhibit some success to get players to want to go there.

I was looking at the Javelina Hall of Fame listing and saw that there are 129 members in all sports now. When I was there, 22 of those members were there at the same time as either players or coaches for football alone.

I do believe the commitment is there once again to restore the program but it will take some real time and effort. I.E RECRUITING.

Once that happens, maybe we can get on another nice little run against ACU. In the meantime, yer boys look like a steamroller and I really do hope they take home the trophy because that will only be a positive reflection on the entire conference. I think the LSC has taken it in the shorts long enough. :)
