No problem. How do I change my screen name without creating a new account? I don't want to be known as a poster with multiple screen names. The current screen name is not meant to be a joke or offensive. If you met me you'd understand.
However, I will change as requested because I can see yours and KJ's point.
I just reed to know how to change it.

Thank you.

Send a Pm to KT2000 and tell him what you want to change it to. That way you will still have your posts just a different screen name.

Elite Coaches in the Metroplex:

Joey Florence
Brian Brazil
Joey McGuire
Kenny Perry
Jeff Dicus
GA Moore

Just off the top of my head and very quick. I am sure I missed some.

The rest of the discussion I will send to you via PM

Had to edit, Lineweaver of course, I always forget him because he is so low key and it is just a given, he is at the top of the list.

I have 2 of the 5 on my list.

There were only about 10 folks at practice tonight.... last year maybe 55 for same practice. Was it b/c of the 8th grade game or lack of enthusiasm?

I think the town is doing a poor job of marketing this game! We should have signs similar to election signs stating time and date of game up and be sure local paper has a real spread about th where and when. The booster website should open to a full splash page about the playoff game...

I will volunteer to help if someone in a leadership position on CISD staff, Booster Club, Council, etc points in the direction.

I used to enjoy this forum stuff but this thread is beyond stupid now and a waste of everybody's time. The negative opinions of a few sound ferocious.

All this stuff starts in Pee Wee football and other rec leagues as parents start believing their kid is the next Peyton Manning and it just gets escalated when they begin playing in the school programs. When a real professional coach (as opposed to a Pee Wee football coach or dad) has a logical unbiased evaluation of a player the parent gets upset if their kid isn't a Daxx Garmin, a Paul Stevenson or a Kenny Hill. The kid makes some bad choices or has had some bad parenting, the kid doesn't get to play, or doesn't get to play in a position he wants to play, so he just quits. The parents get pissed because Johnny is upset, has hurt feelings or his chance for a scholarship goes up in smoke. And instead of accepting that maybe this is just life or the coaches are right, they vent by blaming others, primarily the coaches. They do more harm to their kids by telling their kids they got shafted by the school and the coaches instead of teaching them a life lesson and helping them grow from their setback. The kids are told they have been victimized!

I know my son is above all this stuff. He recognizes some parents are screwed up. He knows some kids make bad choices or are not the best teammates. It has no impact on his game face or his ability on the field.

SLC has a no cut football team which I support. A lot of kids get great pride of putting on the uniform even though they know they won't step onto the field on Friday night. They all make contributions during practice and the game.

These coaches are better men than I. They work hard for the pay they receive. They need to be tough to tune out the garbage that some parents throw out. They do it because they love the game and they love the kids.

This years team (players, coaches, trainers and assistants) are a little like our Vietnam Vets who came home from an unpopular war and were not thanked by many. Our Vietnam Vets were warriors who did their best. This years team (including the coaches) need to be thanked for fighting through all the crap that some screwed up parents and so called Dragon faithful have created.

Hope you all saw the article regarding Austin's (Romero) recovery! My son and I stopped by and saw him really briefly as my kid wanted to give him some seashells he picked up at the beach a month ago... he is a heckuva good young man. God bless him (and his MOM!) and his determination and fight... he is a DRAGON through and through...

For those interested on how former Dragons are doing, Jackson Richards was named the Scout Team Player of the week for Texas Tech. We look forward to him having a big role in upcoming seasons for us.

From my understanding, he is red-shirting this year. So hopefully we'll have 4 years of him getting some good PT and making big plays.

I typically attend the Carroll practices, but I had to be at the Stadium this afternoon starting at 4:30pm for the 8th grade games between Dawson and Carroll Middle. In addition to those games this evening, the basketball team was playing this evening in a scrimmage. Also the girls were playing their third round match against an excellent Marcus team. So I wouldn't read too much into any lack of attendance at the football practice this afternoon.

For those interested, the games at Dragon Stadium this afternoon and evening turned out to be defensive-oriented, despite some impressive offenses. Each time a team got near the goal, the defenses tended to come up big.

In the C team game, it was CMS over DMS, 6-0.
In the B team game, it was CMS over DMS, 12-0.
In the A team game, it was a tie between DMS and CMS, 13-13.

The Carroll girls put up a great fight against Marcus, a top ranked team in Texas, but regretably came up short in a five game match. After falling behind 2-0, Carroll girls came back to take the next two games, forcing the match to a final game. Marcus eeked out the win in the final by the narrowest of margins, 15-13. :( Bummer.

But we should all applaud these girls for an absolutely fantastic season this year. :notworthy

For those of you unable to attend, you missed seeing some future stars... The youngest Agnew is a pretty special athlete, and Parker Fentriss is a future bonafide stud.

It's unfortunate that CMS's Hunter Summy was unable to play last night. He's a special QB.

"I am a friend of HW as well as many, many coaches across Texas and the nation.
Yes, I was here for state championships and I have a few rings of my own."

Why are we listening to someone that lies about their own credentials?

First, if your so called beloved HW is truly your friend why hasn't he got your son a scholarship yet or if you are friends with so many Texas and national coaches like you say I repeat the same question?

Number 2, you have never played football and I didn't know they have rings for rec center sports. Wow!!

By the way, you are very similar to the used car salesman you are referring to. A SELFISH PARENT, ONLY WORRIED ABOUT WHAT HW DOES FOR YOUR SON (or lack there of)!!

This is about the community of Southlake and what is good for all the kids!!

GO DRAGONS FOREVER!!!

Go do good kids, beat FM, we are trying to get you some justice!!

We want a coach that is for the kids not one that has to cheat OR make the kids feel like they are inferior to other teams when they lose as an excuse for the parents. Ask the players who they would you rather have HW or TD? We know what the answer would be hands down. IT’S NOT ABOUT THE PARENTS AND THEIR POLITICS!! TD has done 10x more for our young men and this community than HW has even done where ever he has been. Mike Hunt you want a solution to everything, the answer is TD!!

TDreturns2SLC,

How do you know that TD will be better? Did you play for him at SLC? or have a son play for him at SLC?

Or are you just speculating that everything was always just 100% peachy in the locker room when he was there?

I am just trying to understand where your opinions come from...

No we can beat them in 80 degree weather with no wind, let's not give them any excuses. I do not care if they score 70 on us(as long as we score 71).

Bring your stadium chairs this one could take a while, if it is a short game would be a bad sign, would mean they are completing too many passes and we are not controlling the ball.

Either way, Dragons win.

No I don't think you are at least the ones I know and hope not anyways.

I give Carroll the edge on Defense (a big one) and the mental edge. We have to first and foremost get the 1. It is playoffs can we win a game and 2. We play Carroll and we have never beaten them out of our heads. Then we can focus on the game.

I give us the edge on offense and special teams. How all of this plays out or develops on the field will be determined on the field.

Can we win yes, will we ???

Can you win- yes will you ???

Man it's quiet on here today...Glad tomorrow is game day!

I heard today that next weeks games will be played at Jerry World. If all the stars align, we would see a Carroll vs. Heritage match up in the 2nd game (2pm) of a 4 game ticket. The first game (11am) could be an interesting match up...CHill vs. Guyer.

None of this means a thing if we don't take care of business tomorrow night against a tough and hungry FM team.

I believe the blondes in black pants will rise to the occasion! Go Dragons!!!:heli:

The rain blew through west texas without any sighting of rain, thus you all will probably get the storm out in the DFW. Apparently another front coming through tonight on the plains. Ya'll probably won't get that til Saturday though.

Marcus a tough out, would have been a real challenge. Guyer escaped.
Jaguars are the real deal, they will stretch us all over the field. They have yet to win a playoff game and that hump as well as defeating the Dragons after the loss last year has to be in their mind.

It is now time for the kids to have fun, pull out the stops, and play like there is no tomorrow. I think a lot about the Katy 30 Draw play. It is not just that it works, but also that the kids love it, and love how it fools the other team. I saw Coach Joseph use it when he was coaching in the N/S game last year, and all the kids on the sidelines were laughing and loose.

It has gotten mighty serious in these parts, with a lot of talk about a lot of things. I hope our staff can get these kids to relax and have fun, it would be great if we had a play like that. This is possibly the last game for many of them. If they are able to enjoy it and still deliver, they might get 1 more. And then perhaps 1 more. and so on.

Let's use a 24 hour rule tomorrow how about? Win or lose, we honor the team and the players.

Per the Dallas Morning News--If the Dragons beat Flower Mound, they get the second game at the Boss Hogg Bowl:

11 a.m.: Cedar Hill-Hurst L.D. Bell winner vs. Denton Guyer-Flower Mound Marcus winner
2 p.m.: Colleyville Heritage-Mansfield winner vs. Flower Mound-Southlake Carroll winner
5 p.m.: Allen-Justin Northwest winner vs. Euless Trinity-South Grand Prairie winner
8 p.m.: Duncanville-Irving Nimitz winner vs. Coppell-Plano winner

Great job by the Dragons and the coaching staff tonight. I was a little concerned running Kenny a lot when the game was at hand but no harm no foul. I really wanted to see Randy Williams get a touchdown and screamed for a timeout at the end, I know I know I just wanted him to score, had no intention of being a poor winner.

He will be built like Vince Young in a few years. 15, think about that and how he handled it all. WOW, just WOW. 15 of 17 and like 150 rushing. Huge upside, Huge. I've known the Hill family since we've moved to Southlake 8 years ago. Not only is Kenny an athletic specimen, he is very respectful kid too. It's great seeing him succeed.

If any of ya'll have seen his dad or know his dad, he is a tall guy, Kenny is still growing and I wouldn't be surprised if he was near his dad's height. He'll def continue to grow and get better. It's going to be scary for teams lining up on the other side of the LOS his senior year. Yikes.

Doc - The parents of the band, belles, cheer, crew etc are already shelling out $$$$ to make sure we have a strong program, as funding cuts are an unfortunate way of life right now. No doubt given current funding environment, this will be an ongoing issue, for Carroll and many other area highs. (As an example, I understand the props alone for the UIL show at another high school (not SLC) were > $30K..paid for by the parents). The Band Boosters, and other parent organizations are looking at other opportunities to maintain necessary funding for these programs.

The proof is in the half-time show - I LOVE seeing a football field full of kids doing the lawnmower, beating on trashcans etc. Great fun for hundreds of growing dragons!

I did some research regarding Robin Hood and fundraising options relative to the local school budget and sent it to a couple of folks in CISD. The percentages are interesting and there are ways to raise funds that benefit the district heavily that I found. Anyway... not the right place I know but PM me if interested and Ill email you what I found. None of the extracurriculars at Carroll should be at risk... they are much too important to the well rounded students the district turns out... the Band, Belles, etc show was absolutely GREAT last night!!

p.s. funny re the Real Estate comment '-)

Unfortunate, but I fear that even more will be required as other reductions are made of necessity, given the state funding mandate does not appear to be very high on the legislature's agenda. The district still must find an additional $2 million plus in expenditure reductions and/or revenue increases.

I know it is playoff time and this is not a great time to discuss finance and I will not beat my head against the wall about Robin Hood, that is an offseason topic.
I am no economist and for all I know we are already doing this.
Let's look at payroll companies business model. Ever wonder how they make so much money charging minimal fees? Short term very safe investments, mostly overnight loans to large brokerage houses. They have the luxury of holding onto to our medicare deductions as they only have to submit them quarterly. I do not know what our revenue stream or how district finances work or how much cash we have on hand but these companies are making hundreds of millions of dollars in overnight investments. I am not in the payroll business but have a number of them as clients. That is where they are making the bulk of their money. They get to hold onto federal and social security withdrawals for 48 hours before they submit to the IRS.
Again maybe this is being done or possibly may not be legal because we are a school district.
2 million dollars is not a huge sum of money to a district of our size and I am not saying due to our wealth base that we need to raise taxes only send more to Robin Hood especially in this economy but there has to be a logical way to raise additional funds that are not subject to Robin Hood. Does the district employ a granter writer? We have a very intelligent student base, is their research that we could be doing? Just thinking off the top of my head.
Dr. Ed is the financial wizard so I will sit back and wait for his response.

My group is planning on a 'Pot Luck Dragon Brunch' tailgate. Well get there no later than 10am...

I hope that we have specific direction as to lots. Last year for the Allen game we got there so early that by the time Dragon fans started arriving our lot was not letting people in so we had a 30 person island.

I would love if we could get that lot the Boosters secured last year for the CH game...

Long story short you are more than welcome. Ill update specifics later in the week.

might be at the SLC game next weekend, anyone tailgating?? :notworthy

Hardly an expert; just try to keep up (sort of) with the very strange world of Texas school finance. You're right; this can wait until after the playoffs, but just briefly, Carroll has access to an additional $0.02 in tax money for operations and maintenance expenses that can be collected without shipping the additional funds collected off to Austin, never to be seen by us in the district again. That would generate approximately $1m additional for the district annually. It would require a taxpayer ratification vote, however. Any additional over and above the incremental $0.02 on the current tax rate would be required under state law to be shipped off to Austin at a marginal rate of about 50%!!!
Carroll gets very few dollars from the feds, although we do receive some. I believe the new schools currently under construction do benefit from some energy programs, but otherwise, for the most part, we are simply not eligible for most of these grants.
Carroll does engage in cash flow management and funds are invested, although state law does limit what can be done, as, of course, does prudent management of taxpayer funds. (We are not talking about federal/congressional style recklessness here with our money.)
There are ongoing efforts to come up with additional sources of funding not subject to Robin Hood, so any thoughts are always welcome.

The problem with investing the money is, you could end up like Xerox State. Being as Boone Pickens runs the O$U athletic program from a financial standpoint, he wanted to control how his money was invested, which could be dangerous if you're donating it to a school. So they invested the money they were using to build all their new athletic structures, and when the economy tanked, so did the fund where he invested his money, leaving the school in debt and very short on money to pay for the buildings. Granted now, I'm sure he just wrote a check to cover that, but being a high school we don't have a luxury like that. So I'd be very scared of investing money like that for a public high school being as the risk to turn bottom up is very dangerous.

As far as your research kjones, I'd appreciate that pm from you. Granted I'm not in that field academically, but finance still interests me and I like reading stuff about that, especially economic stuff.

No negatives tonight how about? We are all Dragon brethren right now.

Agreed. I like the tone of this thread since Friday night. It will be amazing what the team accomplishes when the boys and coaches know that the entire community supports them. The boys do read this thread and it's great to see everyones positive thoughts.

All the finance talk is hurting my head.

Planning a send off and a tailgating area at the stadium are real important at this stage in the season and a lot of fun.

What if we could have hundreds of parents, fans and kids at the sendoff at the field house with everyone then jumping into their cars and then immediately getting into a caravan without going home and following the busses to the stadium, and then heading directly to the tailgating area. Even if you cannot get out to the stadium for the tailgating, please get out to the send off. That means a lot to the team, players, coaches and assistants.

I would guess the team might leave the field house around 10. The team will probably sit in the stadium watching the first game till around noon and then start their normal two hour pre-game routine. The caravan would arrive at the stadium around 10:30 or 10:45 and would allow at least a couple hours of tailgating. The Dragons would not likely even touch the field until around 1:00 at the earliest.

A tailgating set up crew could go earlier but I don't want to diminish a great send-off at the Sr. High. Now with a little bit more coordination, we might be able to get our busses to go right by our tailgating area at the stadium like last year. That was fun for those fans already at the tailgating area and great for the kids to see as well.

This is easy to coordinate. Fran Drescher could send out a blaster email to the team parents, the booster club and the school could do their parts to communicate beyond the player parent group.

Beyond helping or paying for a tailgating party, the easiest thing and most important thing everyone can do is get to the send-off on time, all packed and ready for some partying and a great Dragon playoff win.

You cannot always count on playing in the playoffs and certainly you cannot always count on playing in Cowboys Stadium. This is a great Dragon Tradition which if done right will be a memory for our kids as long as they live and it really helps pass that tradition onto to future Dragons who will one day want to play at Cowboys Stadium.

Plan ahead, get their early, and lets rumble!!!!!!!

Two reasons to watch this game. Watch CHill beat Guyer and to watch the CHill half-time show.

Go to the send-off at the field house and then go to the CHill game. You have time to do both.

Where are you haters?? 643 yards offense. Good night.

A very unusual post to make from someone who has stated that he is an experienced coach and knows many high school coaches personally. Such comments are more of someone considerably younger would post. This is The Carroll Thread; where most posts are by Dragon Fans, who by nature do not 'hate' the program. Then your sign off is very curt.

I understand that you have issues with posters you deem unqualified to make comments about the program - but to deem them 'haters' is an equally irrespective comment. I feel that you are now being equally extreme in your criticism of non-complaint posters.

I am sure that there is not a single a Dragon Fan who did not have great evening last Friday watching a very well coached team, execute a very creative game plan to perfection. I have given my accolades to Coach Wasson, the Coaching Staff and Players on a superb performance last Friday in another thread.

I cannot thank enough the coaches and players for giving us another Dragon game to watch this weekend.

As I posted elsewhere. I do hope that the Stadium folks do not attempt to seat Guyer and Carroll fans on the same side, given the schedule and order of teams playing Saturday. Wouldn't necessarily anticipate trouble in the stands, but I am sure not going to be cheering for Guyer, even if they are in 7-5A.

Little History...... The "send-off" is a MUST-DO activity for all players parents, siblings, grandparents. It occurs before each playoff game!!!! It is ESSENTIAL to get this word out via email, text, phone, bullhorn, smoke signals.... unless things have changed, its paragraph in the back of the Parents Handbook and required duty

Senior Parents, this is your final assignment and its one that gets the underclass parents in the correct frame of reference come playoff time.

So why is this so important you may ask.....

1, This is "tradition" worth savoring. It is a fact that your senior sons are nearing the end of their high school experience, and it is one of those moments where parents can make your own personal assessment of your son's commitment to their teammates and focus for excellence as a member of the Dragon football program. For those few seconds that they leave that locker room and get on the bus, you get to see it up close and personal.... and it is something you will not forget after your boy leaves for the next step in their young life. The most overwhelming fact..... is its probably one of the last opportunities you will see your high school senior in competitive athletics. Don't miss it just to get a few rows down in JerryWorld... there are 90,000 other good seats too.

Secondly.... love the "GO DRAGONS GO" signs alongs 1709 this time of year.... only there needs to be about 5 times the number this week. Not fussing.... only educating.... this is the uniqueness of CISD..... it sends a strong message to our neighbors who travel through our city that we are a unique community that supports our kids.

By the way I only have 17 "Go Dragon Go" signs which I plan on putting on 1709 on the way out to 114 Friday night or Sat Morning. We have lost many over the years to city maintainence picking them up for "sign ordinance violations" and wind and other mischeivious friends from other communities. I don't know if I can get a replenishment number done in time to do to have them everywhere on the road out. I will see what we can do though.

Game of life

To coach Todd Dodge and the entire family: Thank you! You are the ultimate winner. You have won the respect and admiration of players, parents, coaches and fans around you. You taught college students to wake up, walk away from destructive activities and instead take advantage of the opportunities provided to them. You challenged and won the minds of student athletes who previously felt they could not achieve academic success. You were the champion of grace in difficult times and taught our sons to shoulder responsibility rather than blame others. Your leadership in promoting academics won back scholarships. When injuries mounted, you showed those waiting in the wings that they, too, could be winners.

In a tremendously challenging time, you demonstrated tremendous integrity. Your efforts built an atmosphere of honor. You made UNT a place where noble young men would want to come and where their parents were proud to send them. We are honored to have shared this time with you.

Many make headlines for a day, but leaders who build the character of young men make a difference for a lifetime.

Many make headlines for a day, but leaders who build the character of young men make a difference for a lifetime.

td has changed many lives here and elsewhere. with or without the wins, he has been successful in ways seldom fully appreciated from afar. while the purist will say he has failed at 4/5 of his stops and i can't vouch for anywhere else, but i doubt his behavior or standards were much different either before or after slc. in my eyes, and likely in God's too, he is seen as an asset above and beyond anything gleaned in the win column. i echo the thanks this letter portrays. he has made a small part of the world a better place, and that is never a bad thing.

TD is a great leader of young men. We were incredibly fortunate to have him the years we did. We definitely enjoyed the wins, but he brought so much more than the wins. He was very consistent in his treatment of all players, and made them all feel valued. It will be interesting to see what is next for him. I echo the sentiments in the Star Telegram open letter, and dragondaddy's comments. All the Best!!! :notworthy

The girls volleyball banquet was held this evening in a most pleasant setting. The young ladies in their dresses look like very different beauties than most of us are used to seeing them on the court. Thanks for the invitation folks. Too many awards to summarize, but the record these young ladies achieved bears repeating:

Varsity.........41-6...13-1 in district.....coDistrict Champions
JV...............36-2...14-0 in district.....District Champions
Fr Black........36-1...14-0 in district.....District Champions (A level)
Fr Green.......24-3...12-0 in district.....District Champions (B level)

All this with but three seniors on this year's varsity team.

Wish we could be heading to San Marcos this weekend, but still a pretty good year for the Lady Dragons in volleyball. :notworthy

We are planning to set up shop in LOT 10 in the NW corner. Unfortunately it is close to impossible to be sure we will succeed. I would prefer lot 4 but think that is considered a lot for the opposing teams. Anyone know?

Anyway... Lot 10... enter stadium through Gate H.

Why waste times on days like tomorrow. A group of writers should have a ranking of the teams they think are the #1 and #2. Then these two teams with the most votes should play for the State Championship. Much easier and far fewer games to play. College Football has got it right, so High School Football should follow the lead of College Football. After all we want to prepare the high school players for what playing in college will be like. Also if this system had been adopted by the NFL – the Dallas Cowboys would be playing in the Superbowl next year.

What's your call on this one toon? No points, just W/L and who?

I haven't seen Heritage this year EXCEPT for the Hebron game, not a good representation of them for sure. I have heard various things from various folks, but to me it sounds very much a toss up game, with mistakes making the difference.

I posted in the Game Predicition Thread that this will be a close game to call, but that has never stopped me making a prediction.

The records of each team are very similar, but gives the edge to Colleyville Heritage, but I cannot help think that all the 'intangibles' favor the Dragons.

Such as the Dragons being 11-0 all time against the Panthers and speaking of Panthers, the Dragons are 15-0 all time 5A against all Panther teams. Like it or not there is the mental aspect of playing the Dragons that Colleyville has to overcome, not mention Coach Fuller's record against the Dragons. With more of the same as last Friday, I am going with the Dragons finding a way to get it done in the play-offs again - Dragons 33-Panthers 24.

If you go down 360, you can exit like you are going to 6 flags or Division. If you exit 6-flags, take road to 6-flags to Randol Mill and turn right.

If you exit Division (which is further but faster), turn Right on road to 6-flags, then turn left on Randol Mill.

Take Randol Mill to lot past stadium. (Corner of Randol Mill and Collins - Lot 10). Give yourself some time because there are alot of people going who don't know the area and that always backs things up.:(

Congrats to Colleyville on a good year. Great 2nd half effort by the Dragons! Very impressive for a team with 20 new starters and a couple of guys going both ways. I don't think I can remember a 1st half when the Dragons did not score a TD...Observations: Quietest Carroll crowd I've ever seen. Colleyville's QB who was very fast and I'm sure is a great kid, was chucking and ducking on most of his passes.

if i was a CH fan, i'd be a little frustrated as to why fuller didn't stick with calvert running the ball most of the game...though we can say the same thing as to why CG wasn't calling the effective QB draw in the first half like he was in the 2nd half. similar situation to last week wasn't it? love the play of the defense...outside of that huge QB run, they played fantastic.

he completed nearly all of the passes that were called, like 14 of 16 for 110 yards. he had one bad one, and that was the one that got picked. the other incompletion was the shovel pass (probably ill-advised). other than that, KH did all that was asked of him and played a great game. what a nice TD pass (and catch) to Hoagie.

I thought SLC mentally controlled both playoff games, especially in the 2nd halves. They ran the ball down FM's and CH's throats and took away any chance of either team getting back in the game. I thought the play calling was outstanding both games.

This team and the coaches have as much character as any of the past Dragon teams IMHO.

AHS fans have said almost weekly that their secondary is the weakness of their defense. Look for KH take more shots downfield this week to open up the running game.

Being as our team is so young (i've only seen one game keep in mind) I feel like running the ball benefits us in ways that are being overlooked. By us running the ball AND scoring, that not only eats up A LOT of clock, it also keeps our defense off the field. It keeps them well-rested, allows them to be coached up even more, and it also allows them to "pump" themselves up per-say to give the ball back to the offense.

Granted, we could just be running it because we have a young QB, but I feel like it is a mixture of both. Getting Kenny experience and confidence is huge and will pay divends in a game against the defending state champs. Like it has been noted, when called upon Kenny has come through. I'm beyond proud of Kenny and next time I see him I will be sure to let him know.

Yes the passing game is by far much more fun to watch, but whatever helps the Dragons win is what I'm for. If we win 3-0 or 65-7, I am happy either way.

Keep up the good work guys. Ya'll are making your friends, family, and alumni very proud to be a Carroll Dragon each and every day.

this team and coaches;
- 1 returning starter
- lose projected d1 committed qb before season
- given little to no chance of making playoffs
- have equaled the longest playoff run since the championship runs
- dealt with fans yelling for hc's head
- dealt with individual(s) within the community with let's just say, "ulterior motives"
if adversity builds character...

----- IMPORTANT NOTICE -----

Thanksgiving break is upon us.... and many, many former Dragons, visiting relatives, the traditional Dragon playoff crowd, & others will be venturing to Dragon Stadium - South to view the 2010 Dragons..... some will even be viewing their first Dragon game of this season....... they will be expecting to see the traditional fast break, pass-chunking offensive show............many simply will not recognize the 2010 version.......... you will need to below notes to help educate them.....remain calm at all times......

Here is your cheat sheet----
1. Yes, a two-back set has been in the playbook all year.... it is not new.... it is not a gimmick for this week only.

Nice win today Dragons!

SLC over all looked very good. Only saw a few things that bothered me. But looked like they got corrected during the game. So good job by the players and coaches to make adjustments.

I thought the roll out passing plays were very nice. Gave Hill a chance to see one side of the field and better passing lanes.

It was also very big to hold them to a field goal after the interception.

Man CHHS, 0 - 12 against SLC.... Dang! "We ready, we ready, we ready for ya'll" , haha, guess not!

I want to tell any Dragon players, coaches, parents, trainers, staff, administration that might be reading this how very very proud I and probably most of the Dragon nation is of you today. Overcoming adversity, executing the plan, achieving WELL over expectations (THIRD ROUND!), these are life lessons. And it is a message to us fans, NEVER stop believing in the capabilities of your kids.

I think Abilene will be a heck of a challenge, but I also believe we can win this game. Whether we do or do not, however, I thank you all for this season.:notworthy

I have several quick hitters.

First, to all of the coaches and players associated with the 2010 Dragon Football season I would simply like to say that the distance you've come since game one is nothing short of amazing. I'm an alum and have seen every team since 1986 play. Your growth is second to none of these squads. All any of us ever ask of you, despite what you may read, is that you learn, play hard, enjoy the game, love one another and respect your opponent. You have not failed to deliver. I knew this season was going to be an interesting ride. God bless each of you as you continue working out your dreams. :notworthy

Next, opinions about Coach W aside, I think we need to admit this has been as job well done. I also think we need to revisit the reasons why the early games were closer than we'd like. Have any of us really given credence to what it means to have two new coordinators, with one installing a brand new scheme and the other making some major tweaks to the other? Couple that with the youth of the squad and the summer controversy and I believe any dissatisfaction some may have felt in the first four weeks should be completely eradicated.

As to Hoagland playing some offene, this pains me, but I told you so. You put your best weapons on the field, period. If this helps the team achieve their goals, so be it. Every week that passes fewer boys are still playing this game across the state. Do what you must, Dragons!

I like the running emphasis. I think it's brilliant, especially with a young quarterback, regardless of talent level, and a defense that is playing so well. The game is four quarters and if you control the clock and field position your opportunities will present at some point. I love what they are doing.

Keep it up, kids! We'll be listening this week as the holidays us take us to Tulsa. Best of luck. Don't play for us. Play for you. We're already beyond thrilled with each of you.

I find myself agreeing with much of what you have stated. While l have not watched as many Dragon Teams as you have; I still feel qualified to comment in view of the number of games I have watched over the years. I think the 2010 Dragons can stand shoulder to shoulder with any previous Dragon Team. Never has a Dragon Team which promised so little and has delivered so much.

I have been able to witness some of the early season 'hapless' performances (and to deny these were hapless is to truly see the program through green tinted eyewear - of note in this respect are the Bell and Berkner games), to the polished and accomplished performances of the last two weeks.

Once again these 2010 Dragons have delivered beyond expectations. While the facts point to an Abilene win in the next game, it would be no surprise to me to see the Dragons win again. There is a resolve and determination in the 2010 Dragona; that will be remember by all for years to come.

Also I want to make a huge shout out to Shaun Hoagland – the player of the season in my mind. Also credit to the coaching staff in identifying a player who can add value to the Offense; as well as being a great defensive player.
Once more, may I congratulate both the players and coaching staff on a job well done last Saturday.

It's important that someone note this for the record.

Toon catches alot of grief, far too often, for some of his opinions. I actually find him to be sincere and passionate in his love for the kids and the program. For those that believe otherwise this is just one example of how Toon does care.

Well said, sir.

Once again.... its' the kids' demonstrated achievements that have, again, taught so many "true lessons" of HS athletics.

There are a huge number of "lessons learned" from this season.

And that discussion is appropriate on here after January 1, 2011.

As for now.... everyone needs to keep their seat belts fastened.... this ride is looking more and more like an "E" ticket at Disneyland

Did anyone see Nebraska's HC verbally dress down his starting qb Saturday? I was mortified to see this happen. Then I started reading reports that the head coach has been getting complaints from the kids' dad about playing time, etc. It's also being reported that the kid texted his dad from the locker room after he was getting his injury checked.

I'm saddened to see the head coach from a great program act the way he acts. I'm also saddened to hear reports of parents meddling in a program.

It makes me very proud to see coaches handle similar situations with patents and kids, like the one being reported in Nebraska, with class and professionalism.

2. The QB is not 13................... he is 15....... (years old, that is)..... & mom has to take & pick him up from practice

In fairness, I was critical of Guyer when we played them at Dragon Stadium, but the team I saw play on Saturday was much better. But to the point on this thread, several members of the Guyer team wished the Carroll players good luck against CHHS as they were leaving the field and Carroll was entering. Good for them.

I know all the Carroll fans' minds are on the upcoming game with Abilene and Thanksgiving, but the Dragons are still playing basketball this week. Tonight, the girls will be at North Crowley for a 7:30pm start. If you aren't of a mind to head south this evening, the boys are playing at Carroll this evening against Plano West. Both teams can use your support, so if you've got nothing else going, head to one of the Carrol games.

Justin Drescher's number will be #47 and he is supposed to be on the sideline with the Saints on Thursday at Cowboy Stadium. I know the whole Drescher family is proud as is the whole Dragon Family of his signing. How great is it that we have three former Dragons on the same team. Seems like Sean Payton didn't forget what he saw when he lived in the area when we was with the Cowboys and saw the Dragons play many times.
