Plano by 2 TD's and a stunned Midland crowd saying "what the F*** happened."

I do not know much about the current Midland Bulldawgs, but as a former Arlington Lamar Viking in the late 80's early 90's I remember having to travel to play Lee and we lost to Permian twice that would have sent us to state.
Although Lee and Permian are down, I have much respect for West Texas Football and although I am rooting for Plano and think they will win we should not take this game for granted.
Midland losing a close game to Abilene itself tells me they are a skillful team that came up short...it happens. In addition at this stage of the playoffs it takes more than luck to advance to the third round.
This game will be a good one and I will hold off making any pre-game predictions I advise the same for my fellow Wildcat Fans and players. Stay focused and play your game and the scoreboard will tell the story at the end.
At least it will be a road trip and thats half the fun.

Good post Wildcat fan. You obviously have years of wisdom behind you! Good luck and be safe if you are planning to come to the game. I really believe that the bulldogs are going to take this one. They are very familiar with Shotwell and will have as many, if not more fans than Plano. :)

Well obviously we will disagree on who will take the game.. touche' and I agree you probably have a slight advantage at Shotwell.
I do disagree, and think you will be quite surprised on the Plano Fan turnout. This is a progam that has won 7 state championships with decades of tradition and still holds the record for crowd attendnace at 49,000 at Texas Stadium.
We will more than exceed the capacity in Shotwell and I think you will admire our fan turnout even if you don't admire our team.
Good luck and safe travels to you as well.

I have NOTHING against Plano! And I am NOT a Midland High Bulldog player or fan (well maybe a closet fan!). I just know that they are well coached and very physical. Please I bear no ill will towards the Wildcats. If you guys do upset the Dawgs next Saturday ( ), I won't lose any sleep and the sun will still rise the next day. At least I hope it does!

Plano beating Midland is not an upset. Plano beating Midland is expected.

For you, yes. You are a homer. To me, it would be an upset. I am not a homer though! ;)

I love ther fact that Plano is going to Shotwell. This is for all intents and purposes a home game for Midland High. As anyone knows who has lived in West Texas. A 2.5 hour road trip is a walk in the park for WT Natives. The logistical familiarity of playing a 3-5A travel schedule vs a Metroplex schedule will be in Midland's favor. They do it every year, going to Shotwell, sometimes twice a year. I'm sure that the Midland faithful will be there and outnumber the Plano Bandwagon Fans at least 10 to 1. A three hour trip to West Texas doesn't compare to a thirty minute drive to Texas Stadium. Midland will win this game because of Baron Batch and their crowd. Go Dawgs --

Don't be so confident on that one. Plano has a long history of playing West Texas teams on their turf. The Plano fans will be there in droves. Plano D will shut the Midland offense down, and the Wildcat fans will be waving their maroon and white paws right behind them.

No question Midland will bring more fans than Plano. Even in their back to back state years. When I saw them play Permian in the 87 semifinal Plano brought at most 6,500 fans. 1/3 of Ratliffs vistors side had mojo fans.
Still a good turnout but not the huge mass that people thought.
For Saturdays game I expect no more than 5,000 max to drive out to Abilene. The game will be sold out with the rest being Midland fans.
Plano plays better when they are the underdog in a hostile setting. If Plano commits no turnovers they win.

Midland High travels every bit as well as Abilene High. I expect the Midland crowd at Shotwell to be at least 15K.

Plano Wildcat fan: I respectfully disagree. Midland is not Odessa Permian. This is not Ratliff stadium. And it is no longer 1987. Much has changed since the 80/90's in West Texas including the status of their football programs. I do agree that Plano plays better under pressure, though. Just my opinion.

i would definately have to agree with that this year. when we were under pressure in games this year we blew em away by 5 or more touchdowns. but when we take it easy against favorable wins such as Flower Mound and DeSoto, we have not played very well and came away with close wins

Plano is 3 point underdog. That is good for them.

I did not know Creekview was a pressure game

calm down all im sayin is that when we'r not under pressure and play the "easy teams" that we havent practiced as hard as the other weeks and that led to some pretty close games (DeSoto and FM). and i have played in every single game this year exept for keller and lakeview bc i broke my foot. and i probably wont be playing this week bc i hurt that same ankle at the game on sat. i might not start but theres no reason to be a jackass. and you cant honestlyt say that we havent played better under pressure this year

Marcus-we won by 21, East-won by 17, is that not good enough? i would say that thats playing pretty good football against good teams
also consider we beat
Rowlett 35-7
Allen-45-7
WEST 45-7
in all of these games we were under alot of pressure, practiced extremely hard all week, and showed up to play on friday night and whipped em bad
and just a question... what do you mean by "I did not know Creekview was a pressure game"?

That's interesting #27. Usually, a player is out for about 6 weeks with a broken foot like Nathan Dick from Allen. You were only out for 2 games?

You should be worrying about SLC and not Plano. Could be an embarrassment for Abilene.

Sounds to me like there will be 2 good backs in Batch and Jordan.
I know Plano's D is good and i understand MHS's D is good. These two better have their chin straps on tight, eat their wheaties.....sounds like they will need it.

Your right this is not 1987. Plano had better support back then then they do know. You might be to young to remember but I do. Plano always sold out their home side and them some for every game for years. My family has had their season tickets at Clark Field since the stadium opened in 1977. All I know is their were alot of empty seats under the pressbox for last 5 years. Where before their wasn't Only time their wasn't this year was for East and West games.
They had a good turnout Saturday night. Saw alot old teammates from the 80's. I believe Plano pulled in close to 10K on their side Saturday night.
Hopefully I'm wrong and Plano has larger than expected attendance on Saturday for their first big road test. I will be one of them.

No. Actually I was in high school in 1987. Plano's fan base dwindled after the opening of West and the effect on the Plano program. But, judging from the turnout on Sat, I know Plano will have a large turnout in Abilene this Sat, too.

No hate intended and certainly not trying to degrade you. Just curious #27.
