Just listened to a post game interview with J. Lane and he said something interesting. When asked if he had any wishes for the A&M team next year, he replied that it would probably be best if he kept that to himself. This amid continued reports of player unrest at A&M. So the big question is does A&M get a coaching change this year and at which level?

Also, who would you like to see as the new HC at A&M?

I think Torbush may be out, but any new head coach is better than Fran...he needs fire in his belly instead of little debbies...

A lot of players have completely bailed on this team and it's coaches and they are led by Reggie McNeal. I can't really blame them for wanting to give up on those coaches.

maybe A&M can just forgo a football program like Rice wanted to and just let UT use their players for a scout team

I'd say a complete overhaul of anyone brought in by Fran. What a waste of the phenomenal talent that Reggie McNeal possesses.

I have a doubt whether Franchionne still in place will satisfy most fans. I suspect a wholesale change is in order to get this team back on track. Most feel that similar mistakes by other programs were corrected by paying the money and getting rid of mistakes in hiring. You really have to look no further than Texas and OU to see this. Other notables are Alabama and Notre Dame that have recently had this problem. Should be high-drama in College Station in the near future.

im still trying to assess what exactly went wrong with this team... I mean you have the money to do things, you have a large fan base, etc... I really do think this comes back to being sandwiched by OU, UT, and LSU in recruiting. Thats why if you look back at aggy past, they have only been good in years where the NCAA later investigated them. Plus, rivals.com is garbage, how they rank players is completely moot

aggy has developed a habit of picking up one or two good recruits in a class and then surrounding them with marginal talent.

but jtk I heard that those marginal talents fit perfectly into the coach franchione system. I mean just because the kids only other offers were from div 2 schools and SMU does not mean anything. Recruiting services don't know anything about football and nobody does less with more than Mack Brown. ;)

The problem lies deeper than recruits. A&M has the talent to compete with the Big 12 but the overall problem with the program starts at the top with Franchionne and continues down the chain to the players. Bad schemes on both sides of the ball, incredible amount of injuries, lack of player support and failure to adapt are the primary problems. When players have no faith in coaches then you have a problem with your team. The secondary, especially the safeties, is a good starting point. A&M's safeties make the right read on the play but they always choose the wrong receiver. This allows the big pass play to the always open reciever that should have been covered by a safety. Instead of correcting and coaching or replacing a safety with a better player, the current coaches chose to scream and rant or change the scheme. Strangely, the safeties are making the choices based on what has been presented to them by the coaching staff. Kind of a vicious cycle, ehh.
